Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [03/17]
And this is how the top-20 looks with Saturday-to-Saturday comparison. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j211/Arrs-/w2w%20ed%20change.jpg Ed's songs mainly fell 20 to 26%, with the exceptions of Galway Girl which actually rose, and some songs which fell further, led by 'Eraser' (-35%). Jax Jones joined the "got higher than the lowest Ed Sheeran album track" block, and it seems him and Stormzy should break other songs than 'Save Myself' soon too, maybe tomorrow!

OCC: "We will look into the way charts are compiled"
That's a bad idea, as digital sales will die out sooner or later and will not represent anything what people like out here. They don't represent it already, they only represent only part of people's musical habits these days.

OCC: "We will look into the way charts are compiled"
But it's not a real trend. Right now songs which are listened as an album are counted to the singles chart. It's like if you bought an album in iTunes all of the songs would get the "singles" sales. People listen to the album as a package, and these streams are counted to the albums AND to the singles, which is far from "original" and "real" trend.

Should the Album Streaming Chart Rules Be Changed?
This is what they do in Scandinavia, so the technology already exists.

Should the Album Streaming Chart Rules Be Changed?
if a person played 3 or 4 tracks from the album then he quite probably picket them up out of the whole album. So a user played those 3 songs and not the album as a whole, and therefore it should be counted in the singles chart. However, if a person played like 8 tracks from the album consisting of 12 tracks then most probably he listened to the whole album not picking up certain choices. Therefore, those streams should be counted to the albums chart.

Spotify Monthly Chart Thread [03/17]
'Big for Your Boots' also broke the Ed Sheeran blockade, but neither Stormzy nor Chainsmokers haven't broken the Ed-only top-15 yet. Next Friday I expect only 'Save Myself' to get out of the top-20 for sure. Maybe Bibia be ye ye and Eraser but if we're lucky.

Dance Chart Number Ones 2000 - 2009
I absolutely LOVE the song you are talking about, it is one of my favourite songs ever and one of the signature songs of 00s in my opinion.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 10th March 2017
The Steps song is horrendous to my ears BUT I love the fact that it's very different to everything else in the chart and that a group from 90s can get to iTunes #1 in 2017. Although I wish it was All Saints getting this #1 spot with their splendid comeback last year. :(

Should the Album Streaming Chart Rules Be Changed?
Yep, these are pretty much my thoughts too. I get that it might take a lot of calculating regarding the second option (and therefore demanding some investments), so if it's too expensive for OCC it should be the 1st option instead. But I'm against nominating the tracks (it will be messy and artificial) and changing the streaming ratio again (this will only be temporary, you can't stop the streaming taking over). Also I'm against bringing the radio airplay to the chart, as this is where it doesn't depend on a person buying / listening to tracks at all.

Should the Album Streaming Chart Rules Be Changed?
I think this is worth a separate thread, as this is discussed in several threads already. I gathered all of the options which I saw had been suggested to solve the Ed-xclusiveness gate. I think I will send the poll results / this thread to OCC reps too, because why not? The decision will obviously be made by the record labels but maybe they won't think of some obvious solution we might think of.

Official Charts to become Ed-exclusive next week.
It's not the only way, I'm actually against nomination because it's going to be extremely artificial. I'm for a way when a user listens to most of the album, those streams don't count in the singles chart. Most of these 500k+ streams won't count then. But the individual sales and streams will still count.

Official Charts to become Ed-exclusive next week.
This is only temporary, what would you do when digital sales fade away completely?

Official Charts to become Ed-exclusive next week.
I'm not saying any songs should be disqualified. If a person listens to one, two, three, up to 50% of the songs from the album they should be counted in the singles chart but not in the albums chart. However, if a person listens to most, if not the whole, album, it should be counted towards the albums chart, because a person is listening to an album, not to certain songs! This means the album tracks will still chart but only if they are standing out enough to be listened as tracks, not as part of an album. It's not about me liking or disliking the state of charts either, it's just about of trying to make it a fair play and excluding the double count of streams. They should be counted in one of the charts, not in both.
-
Official Charts to become Ed-exclusive next week.
Yep, this is my point either. People consume albums in the streaming era listening to all of the songs from them, but that doesn't mean they don't consume albums. We have an album chart for a reason.

Official Charts to become Ed-exclusive next week.
This is why, I insist, there should be a rule that if a user streamed more than a certain percentage of tracks per album all those tracks should only count to the album chart.

This is pretty much a Chainsmokers sound! I wonder will it help them go back to mainstream though...

LOL @ the new Linkin Park song. I get they decided to change the direction (and probably get some ca$h), but it's so trend chasing...

Sugababes ● General Discussion
I've read somewhere that Heidi now has an office job in Sony. Regarding MKS the legal battle over the Sugababes name is not over. Even more so: there is another query now regarding the fact that Crown didn't use the Sugababes name for 5 years now, which can be a cause of its withdrawing. Regarding the leaked tracks: I hope the ladies are not damaged by them, or at least not damaged too much. But even if they were, those tracks are like 3-4 years old! They will definitely to record new material anyway. And while I liked/loved all of them, unfortunately I didn't see THE SINGLE out of them. Everything would get the same #50 peak like 'Flatline' did unfortunately. I like 'Drum' the most instantly, but it got old the most quickly out of them. The biggest grower was 'Love in Stereo', while the best song for me is 'Summer '99'.

Technically 'none of the above' has won last time. :P I thought we'd declare null winner in that case.
