I’ve read quite a lot of album reviews already and I’m really excited to hear the album! I don’t expect another Padam / Tension but still the songs are set to be amazing. As for the sales, I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t get to 60k. Loads of formats, now signed CDs, a big hit, a minor hit, and also her own pop up store? Not to mention inevitably increased streaming. 60k is the least I expect for the week.

It is in fact on 22.8K vids on TikTok, but it indeed doesn’t convert to streams. I saw some sort of a make-up challenge with Tension, with the snippet starting from ‘Every day and every night’ and not going until the actual chorus. Maybe that snippet isn’t too attractive to convert to streaming. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I'll most likely have to skip this time, as I'll be travelling A LOT to and in Serbia during the finals and I don't think I'll manage to submit a quality vote in the finals time. :cry:

It is doing WELL on TikTok, up to 20.6k videos, up more than 10k videos in just 4 days (Padam is currently on 36.4k). Seems like there’s some sort of a make-up challenge going on there. But this just doesn’t translate to streams. 😭

All of the recent BMG releases I remember went on Thursdays or even Wednesdays in the past years.

BMG is a good label, I think they treat artists the best and really know the drill how to sell the physical albums!

From what I have read, 'Hold On to Now' and some other emotopop tracks from the album should definitely appeal to Kylie's core fanbase!

Frankly I am more than happy with Tension’s week 2. I still feel it might recover, and even if it is just stable in the 50s-60s region until the album release, it’s more than fine by me. So far it is doing exactly like I thought (the positive scenario would have been a HH add and lingering in the low top-200 in the UK Spotify, but alas). And it is still on track of being a big Kylie streaming hit and easily outdoing her other BMG ventures, Padam aside. Also I’m fairly sure of a silver certification, just not a quick one. I think Padam rose our hopes and expectations a little bit too much to be honest.

Gained around 1.3k videos on TikTok in the last 24h. Overall 7.8k videos. So far on that metric it is really on par with Padam, but it doesn’t convert to streams (yet).

I think Tension will have far bigger pre-orders than DISCO due to these two factors: 1. The consumption behaviour gears even more towards the pre-ordering than in 2020, even despite going out of COVID. Also Tension had one extra month of pre-orders; 2. Obviously Padam Padam’s and Tension’s success, which both got much more attention than Say Something and Magic, has generated extra pre-orders for Tension (the album). I can see it starting with like 45k on Monday and going to around 60-65k by Friday.

This is after 3 days on Spotify. Excludes the single mix of Magic. On day 1 all the tracks started on 100-200k streams, then fell a bit. I think the album tracks will do 200-300k this time around the first day. PP + Tension + the focus track should do more. I don't think it's over over yet for this one anyway! We'll have the album release, and even if it is a sleeper hit on 200-300k Spotify streams per day, it is still more than good!

I’m actually not sure they’ll be bothered to reduce Tension on iTunes! BMG are about profit, and Padam is the marketing cow of this era. Not sure they want to have more profit losses in exchange for a higher visibility in the sales charts. And we already got CDs at a reduced profitability anyway, along with a very healthy peak. Now if it doesn’t take off on streaming, they may prefer a number 49 with 99p on iTunes to 46 with 59p there.

Am I the only one who got surprised that PP went up 18% in sales, yet only rose 3 places? I mean it doesn’t really matter whether it is at 67 or 72 at this point, but still to me it is a bit of a weird chart outcome! Regardless, I’m happy it’s pushing it to Gold a bit faster — hopefully that still happens this year and it still looks like that!

351 917 streams for Tension yesterday, that means a significant decline day-to-day. But still, we had this week and hopefully it will still stabilise at over 300k next week!

I think I’d love to see a YTD / YE chart without the singles that were on ACR all year. That was we could get cleared of the deadwood on passive streaming, highlight the hits of 2023 without forgetting old tracks that took off too (Cruel Summer, Dog Day Are Over etc.)

Easy one for me, very distinctively: 1. Tension — 10/10 2. SMFF — 8,5/10 3. Magic — 5/10 — I really don’t feel that song at all.
