I think I’d love to see a YTD / YE chart without the singles that were on ACR all year. That was we could get cleared of the deadwood on passive streaming, highlight the hits of 2023 without forgetting old tracks that took off too (Cruel Summer, Dog Day Are Over etc.)

Easy one for me, very distinctively: 1. Tension — 10/10 2. SMFF — 8,5/10 3. Magic — 5/10 — I really don’t feel that song at all.

398,411 streams for Tension yesterday. Slightly down, but overall stable! Shame it doesn’t do just a little bit more to be visible in the UK top-200!

Well, on TikTok it’s already been used in 3.6K videos, it is roughly the same speed as Padam! So far it doesn’t reflect in the music charts that much (yet), but it definitely reached out to some extent!

21 in midweeks, top-20 is on lock once the CDs get counted.

Despite (quite predictably) falling out of the top-200, Tension actually gained in overall streams yesterday! Unlike with SS, which fell on Tuesday. @1699473946649694588 Hopefully it stabilises at around 400-500k for the time being and gets back to the UK top-200. I compared it with Say Sonethung because it showed a classical trajectory of a fanbase single. So far it looks like Tension in terms of the bigger audience reach will be somewhere between that and Padam, which is awesome, if you ask me.

This is how the first 5 days of streaming go for Say Something, Padam and Tension Padam at this point overtook Tension in daily streams, and Tension basically had the same recovery as Say Something on its 5th day (both grew by around 7% compared to Sunday). Hopefully that's not a sign of further decline of Tension and it can be stable, especially with the Capital airplay kicking in. Let's see how it goes tomorrow.

They might save the discount for another week to give stability. Especially given thousands of CDs will be added to this week’s sales.

Tomorrow's Spotify update will be a sign of the trajectory it's going to take: if it goes back up, then we are probably in for another, even if minor, streaming hit. If it falls out, then it's probably it for streaming until the album release at least.

63 in midweeks, i expected significantly bigger given the rise on Spotify, but it looks like the Spotify influence on Padam isn't that big (which was proven by the fact that while it was in the 100s on Spotify and ACR, it still ended up at 74 last week).

This cover is so much better than the digital one! By the way, Tension is already on 1.5k vids on TikTok, doing roughly 400 vids per day. I don’t think it will fall out of Spotify in tomorrow’s update. I really don’t expect the success of Padam x2, but should do marginally better than anything else released with BMG. Looks like at least 2 weeks top-40 (another on album release) and possibly even more!

Despite Tension predictably falling, Padam actually climbed to 64 on the UK Spotify! Very healthy chart rebound incoming! The previous Saturday Padam was 133 in the UK, and streams are up 32% Saturday-to-Saturday.

Yup, top-40 is on lock with it being high on AM and downloads still! Top-20 would be a stretch this week, unless it picks up quick on Spotify, but top-30 is not out of question, especially if they release something on her website again on Wed / Thu!

I don’t know, I love the video! From BMG videos it is the best to me on par with Dancing (and I think I prefer it do Dancing now), and other than that, it is the best since… Timebomb I think! I kinda believe shoddy green screen editing is intentional, it all makes some weird sense and definitely has the replay value to me. And people have found or assumed so many references and analogies, some really wild ones haha. Kylie’s team has done pretty much everything right for this debut push (except for the announcement I’d say and lack of availability in some download platforms and apparently Tidal).

Voted too! To be honest I felt that most of the contests of this year were stronger than this one, but I loved my top-3!

This is not exactly accurate, as we compare Tension’s second day (Friday) to Padam’s third (Saturday). Friday-to-Friday it is not much of a difference, as on the first Friday Padam did 618,697 streams. I think the confusion comes from that some accounts don’t count Thursday as a first day of streams, starting the count from Friday, with Thursday being sort of a day 0. But still very good debut for Kylie — hopefully it doesn’t fall off on second week much, but we’ll see.

With Tension already being top-50 on Apple and obviously number one on iTunes I can see a top-40 this week! Especially given last week’s number 41 only generated 8,319 sales units. Whether it is a top-40 or a top-30 will depend on Spotify figures now.

Thursday release got them on top of Apple’s New Music Daily playlist for a couple of hours, and then the downloads, including the pre-orders, were released on Friday. I can’t believe I’m saying it — but it was a perfect strategy!
