The same song in the chart twice
Leona Lewis was number 2 with 'Better in Time/ Footprints in the Sand' and number 25 with 'Footprints in the sand'. (w /e 16 March 2008). If both versions counted together she would have been number one ('Mercy' by Duffy was number one).

Virtual Book of Hit Singles - "M"
Liz McClarnon's single should be listed as Woman In Love. Great work as always ... many thanks!

Virtual Book of Hit Singles - "K"
Had a look through my old British hit singles books - the last one was number 18 - and it doesn't have any additional info to what you have listed. I checked Discogs and they have no more info - they do list the writers for Devotion, though. No joy on the members of the act.

Virtual Book of Hit Singles - "K"
Great resources, as always! Under KWS, their debut single, 'Please Don't Go', is usually listed as a double A side along with 'Game Boy'.

2014 World Cup
Really enjoyed the Costa Rica match - and the tournament so far. BBC Football reporting that there's been 22 goals in the 6 matches so far compared to 8 goals in 6 matches in 2010. Which means England and Italy will draw 0-0.

Irish Chart Thread 2014
Thanks for putting the background information up and for adding the charts week to week. I started following the Irish charts last year after coming across Pop 4 on my Sky programme guide. It seemed to go off air last summer - has it moved channels or times? Or simply stopped being shown?

Fantastic resource, fchd! Will make it easy for me to check off my own database. Thanks also for the mini biogs as well.

The Suedehead Chart Commentary
Brilliant column as always, Suedehead2. Just to point out that 21 has fallen out of the Top 75 for two weeks earlier in the year (chart dated week ending 6 July, 2013).

Streaming Sales
But the UK chart is not representative of what people are listening to - and never has been. It's representative of what individual tracks people are willing to pay for.

The End Of HMV
There's only going to be one HMV still standing in Northern Ireland, and that's the one in the city centre. Oh well, I guess one is better than none. Am I right that there are no music retailers left in Northern Ireland, except for Belfast? I can't think of any.

Premier League / Football League Thread 2011-12
Good wins for Spurs and Everton ... not much else to comment on, then. Just a few points about the whole Evra-Suarez incident ... 1. I would've preferred Suarez to have shaken Evra's hand, if only to 'draw a line under the whole thing'. I do understand why he didn't do it and believe Suarez shouldn't be made to shake hands with Evra. 2. The British media have kept this whole scenario running ... to their advantage (after all, it's an easy write up). They could 'draw a line under the whole thing'but choose not to. 3. There's footage on youtube of Gary Neville refusing to shake Peter Schmichael's hand - Schmichael was playing for Man City. Did the media highlight this -Schmichael's 'crime' being playing for City? Did Ferguson label this 'a disgrace'? 4. When Cantona 'Kung Fu Kicked' a Crystal Palace fan in the mid 90s did another football manager label this a disgrace? Or Rio Ferdinand missing a drugs test - was this a disgrace? Was another manager calling for them to be sold? 5. When a manager of a top football team refuses for years to speak to the BBC because of a documenatry investigation into his family, was this a disgrace? Was it petty? Was it a petty disgrace? 6. On Monday night Gareth Bale simulated (which, when I was a child ,we called cheating) by falling over thin air. No media hysteria. How woluld this have been protrayed if Suarez had simulated? No media hsyteria? 7. Has there been a reaction from those great fair minded moralists of our age on Twitter? Those pair of paragons of virtue Wayne Rooney (who cheated on his pregnant wife) and Rio Ferdinand (who missed a drugs test). (I geneuinely do know since I'm not on Twitter).

WWE Hall of Fame 2012.
Think Mil is Del Rio's uncle. He wrestled at the Royal Rumble in 1997 ... I also think he was the first masked wrestler to wrestle at Madison Square Garden.

Premier League / Football League Thread 2011-12
If Suarez is banned for 8 games, will the FA consistently ban every player who makes offensive, racist remarks for 8 games? I've heard people talking about sending a message ... how this will act as a deterrent ... again, will this be consistently applied to every footballer who makes offensive and racist comments? For example, if the exact same incident happened in a League 2 match, would the player be banned for 8 games and fined £40,000? If a player insults, for example, Craig Bellamy using 'Welsh' as an insult would the player be banned and fined for insulting him?

Gary Speed has died
I echo the thoughts of everyone on here ... was watching the Football League Show on Sky Plus earlier today. Stopped it just to check out the BBC Interactive page and stunned at the news. Couldn't bear to watch the rest of the show or interested in watching the Liverpool-City match. As has been said in some posts, such tragic news puts everything onto perspective. Rest in peace, Gary Speed.

Virgin 'Top 40' Charts Book - November
Finally made my through this book - only took over a year to do it. I know it's a minor criticism but Kylie was labelled as a debuting artist on Spinning Around and Billie Piper was labelled as a debuting artist on Day and Night. They weren't of course, just a different credit. Also, I always assumed it was Beyonce (sole credit) on 'Crazy in love' in the UK and Beyonce ft Jay-Z in America. In the book it's credited to Beyonce ft. Jay-Z.

Radio 1 Chart Show - ways to improve it?
An album chart show would be good - Radio 2 had one on Monday nights in 2002 hosted by Simon Mayo. Was very good. Not sure when it stopped, though. Jo Wiley would be a good presenter for it. Slightly off topic but Radio Times is listing Radio 1 DJs playing a Top 40 on Monday 27th-Thursday 30th (Reggie, Fearne, Greg and Jo are hosting on individual days). Anyone know what format the show is? Personal charts?

Radio 1 Chart Show - ways to improve it?
When Mark Goodier hosted the show I could set my clock by it - 4-4:45pm positions 40-31; 4;45-5:30 pm positions 30-21. The album chart was read out at 5:30pm (Top ten) then positions 20-11 were from 5:30-6:15pm and the TopTen would be in the last 45 minutes. I miss that - the album chart rundown (which I agree should be a Top Ten) seems to move about alot. Do a recap of the Top 40 before the number 1 (I'm guessing they don't do that to encourage people to check out their website). When recapping positions 40-31 (or 30-21 etc) tell us which singles climb, fall, stay the same or are new to the chart. Personally I'd prefer the presenter to be neutral - I still recall being annoyed that JK and Joel slagged off Crazy Frog getting to number one. Thousands of people bought it - who is the chart show DJ to rip into those people. Same with their tastes in music - I know Reggie likes urban, grime,r n b etc but I don't need to know this - I had no idea what music Mark Goodier liked. I know Reggie has a man crush on Michael Buble - he tells me every time Buble is on the chart show. Mark Goodier could have had a similiar crush on Ritchie from 5ive but I didn't care - just read the chart and know your subject matter. Finally, if you're firing Reggie (I do like him as radio presenter just not so keen as a chart show host) get Scott Mills or Greg James to do it.

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 24th Dec 2010
Kylie was on at the very start of the show, before Michael McIntyre did his welcome.

Current longest consecutive singles chart runs
Who's buying them? My theory is children who were 6-7 years old when Chasing Cars was first on the chart are now 10-11 years old and at the age where they download music. They hear the song and buy it. Rinse and repeat over a number of years leads to years of people buying the song for the first time.

Football Discussion [old]
I've no idea why Liverpool fans kick up such a stink about it, they should be thankful because it took all the attention away from how god awfully p***-poor they were in that match. From what I remember Rafa on MOTD said that Liverpool were poor and he wouldn't use the beach ball incident as an excuse. If it happened to a certain other manager ... make that managers they would have thrown around words such as 'travesty' and 'absolute joke'.

Up-Dated UK Million Sellers - On BBC Radio 2
Any ideas who's hosting the show? Is Mark Goodier still a presenter on Radio 2?
