BBC Three moves online
Internet TV is the future. If you already have one.It won't be a problem. Streaming will soon be the way forward with all TV & Radio. It's not really problem. Anymore than going digital was.

Radio 1 Age Policy
Noi the Radio One age range does not require adjustment. It's always been a teenaged station, with DJs that have the mind of teenagers aka Blackburn, Stewart, Travis, Savile meets Wright, Campbell, Powell meets Ball, Evans, Mills, Yates & Cotton. The Pirate stations should never of been forced to close in 1967, & the BBC should never of been pushed to do something that they didn't really want to do i.e. being stuffy nosed pillocks. Radio 2 needs adjusting & needs to get it's celebrity presenters axed. Get in some knowledgeable presenters, that can operate their own desks & generally keep their gobs shut & play more music, instead of "now here's some travel news", "here's another 5 minutes of news" & "let's prattle on about a load a bollocks for another 10 minutes" & most of all, get rid of idiots like Blackburn, Phillip Swern etc & use their own sources instead of paying enormous amounts to production companies, run by ex-members of Capital flipping Radio.

'Skipped' UK Top 40 Hits
In March 1976, the M & O band were never played, as the "Do The Latin Hustle" single had stolen the same backing track from Eddie Drennon & The BBS Unlimited. In the same week Eddie was #20 & the M & O band rip off at #16.

whats a double A side?
Try telling him what a maxi single was! When you had 2 tracks on one side & one on t'other, because BMRB would not allow EPs in the charts in the 1969 to 75 run. So, artists got around it by putting max singles out. Jethro Tull, Clodagh Rodgers, Family etc. Then came 1976 & bosh, in came the EPs again via Demis "The Singimg Tent" Rousos. Imagine EPs were still not allowed in 1976, then "Forever & Ever" would of been a lost number one. Some records were released as EPs, but were not recognised as such & only one or 2 songs were listed on the chart. Kiki Dee "Loving & Free" was one. "Paul Nicholas "Grandma's Party" another. Funny times. Bre (& others)....Boney M's record did not start out as a Double A side. DJs began to play the other side in July 1978 (fed up with "Babylon"). The public were not all aware that it was on the other side of "Babylon" & some people, actually bought it twice, as the A & B side were flipped. There is an equation of a split side. It sold 1.151 before it was flipped over. "Brown Girl" then took over as A side, until the end of it's run & got 476,200. Of course, as it was the same record, all these had to be added together for a en of year chart. "You're The One That I Want" was the most popular song of 1978, really. It achieve 1.6266m in Panel sales, by the end of 1978. The Beatles do win the equal amounts in popularity of Submarie/Eleanor Rigby. Though, they also had equal exposure on Top Of The Pops, as most of their "B" Sides were also feature on said programme, when they were not Double A sides. The equal amounts of Double A side via the 70s, would be Rod Stewarts "I Don't Want To Talk About It/First Cut Is The Deepest". "First Cut" was always featured on TOTPs, but the radio preferred "I Don't Want". BMRB messed up the year end sales of this in 1977 & placed it at #33, because they mixed up a 3 with a 2 in it's Panel sales. It really sold 619,000 & was a top 15 single of the year.

Angels For No 1
One word (if it does) HYPE. Shouldn't be allowed even to enter the charts. It's false pretences. Only one reason for something to re-enter the charts & that is a death. Even then I'm not keen on that sort of thing, as it becomes kind of a fan thing aka Jackson, Lennon, Presley, Winehouse. Only one person's death has had an effect on me, to re-buy something & that was the untimely death of Malcolm Roberts some years back. Though neither did I want it back in the charts.
-
I wonder how the charts would look...
Well it would work for LPs, but Singles? I think not. Apparently the over 40s don't buy singles unless it's an irish related group or an Ex-lax single. Which is why the singles chart is pointless, as it's just a reflection of a minor agegroup. As in, the top 40 will NOT be moving to Radio 2 in the future.

Top of the Pops
Originally the idea was to feature all the acts in the top 3, as in Pick Of THe Pops had played the complete top 3 in every programme since September 1957. Obviously the idea was changed, as it got very repetititive & static. Then each edition of the show, had to not repeat anything from the previous week, except the #1 or #1s (as there were a few joint #1s).

Top of the Pops
ACTUALLY nothing exists from the first show. The Jimmy Savile bit, is a re-creation from the 90s & the first artist on the show was Dusty Springfield, not the Rolling Stones. I know I wrote down the playlists in the 60s & even the BBC Archives confirm Dusty, as the first person to perform. So, someone's made yet another balls up. Surprise surprise, indeed! The January 1964 line ups (as follows, complete with BBC positions): 1-1-64: Presenters: Jimmy Savile & Alan Freeman (Wiped) (5) DUSTY SPRINGFIELD – I Only Want To Be With You (13) THE ROLLING STONES – I Wanna Be Your Man (6) GENE PITNEY – 24 Hours From Tulsa (crowd dancing) (2) DAVE CLARK FIVE – Glad All Over (NEW) CLIFF RICHARD & THE SHADOWS – Wishing Well (video) (12) CLIFF RICHARD & THE SHADOWS – Don’t Talk To Him (video) (21) THE HOLLIES – Stay (3) THE BEATLES – She Loves You (and charts) (10) SWINGING BLUE JEANS – Hippy Hippy Shake (4) FREDDIE & THE DREAMERS – You Were Made For Me (1) THE BEATLES – I Want To Hold Your Hand (video) ************************************************** 8-1-64: Presenters: Alan Freeman & David Jacobs (Wiped) (17) ADAM FAITH & THE ROULETTES – We Are In Love (13) ELVIS PRESLEY – Kiss Me Quick (crowd dancing) (7) BIG DEE IRWIN – Swingin’ On A Star (video) (12) THE HOLLIES – Stay (20) BILLY FURY – Do You Really Love Me Too (crowd dancing) (4) DUSTY SPRINGFIELD – I Only Want To Be With You (3) SWINGING BLUE JEANS – Hippy Hippy Shake ® (1) DAVE CLARK FIVE – Glad All Over (1) THE BEATLES – I Want To Hold Your Hand (video) ************************************************** 15-1-64: Presenters: David Jacobs & Pete Murray (Wiped) (8) THE HOLLIES – Stay (19) FRANK IFIELD – Don’t Blame Me (video) (16) GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS – I’m The One (2) THE BEATLES – I Want To Hold Your Hand (video) (13) ADAM FAITH & THE ROULETTES – We Are In Love (25) THE FOURMOST – I’m In Love (2) SWINGING BLUE JEANS – Hippy Hippy Shake (video) (16) BRENDA LEE – As Usual (crowd dancing) (1) DAVE CLARK FIVE – Glad All Over (crowd dancing) ************************************************** 22-1-64: Presenters: Pete Murray & Jimmy Savile (Wiped) (13) BILLY FURY – Do You Really Love Me Too (7) GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS – I’m The One (2) SWINGING BLUE JEANS – Hippy Hippy Shake ® (11) ADAM FAITH & THE ROULETTES – We Are In Love (crowd dancing) (11) FRANK IFIELD – Don’t Blame Me (video) (29) THE MERSEYBEATS – I Think Of You (6) THE SEARCHERS – Needles And Pins (3) THE BEATLES – I Want To Hold Your Hand (crowd dancing) (1) DAVE CLARK FIVE – Glad All Over (video) ************************************************** 29-1-64: Presenters: Jimmy Savile & Alan Freeman (Wiped) (12) MANFRED MANN – 5-4-3-2-1 (NEW) BRIAN POOLE & THE TREMELOES – Candy Man (video) (4) GERRY & THE PACEMAKERS – I’m The One ® (14) BILLY FURY – Do You Really Love Me Too (17) THE FOURMOST – I’m In Love (2) SWINGING BLUE JEANS – Hippy Hippy Shake ® (19) THE BACHELORS – Diane (22) THE ROLLING STONES – You’d Better Move On (1) THE SEARCHERS – Needles And Pins

How did you get into dance music?
Sheila Tracey 1960. Those big dance bands of the late 50s & early 60s. The dance halls across the country. Great stuff. Shame they've all been turned into Bingo halls.

ITV Chart Show January 15th, 1994
It can't really be compared because The Chart Show, ran a Wednesday to Tuesday chart...where as Milward Brown/Radio One & that stuff were on the Sun to Sat throw. To which, you've compared it to the wrong Radio One chart anyway, as Chart Show was ahead on the Saturday, so the equivalent of Radio One, would of been the following week ending date. Both w/k ending 22nd Jan 94. As follows: 10 ( 17 ) CeCe Peniston - "I'm In The Mood (UK Mix)" 9 ( 8 ) Eternal - "Save Our Love" 8 ( 9 ) Haddaway - "I Miss You" 7 ( 26 ) DJ Duke - "Blow Your Whistle" 6 ( 3 ) K7 - "Come Baby Come" 5 ( 4 ) Bryan Adams, Sting, & Rod Stewart - "All For Love" 4 ( 6 ) East 17 - "It's Alright" 3 ( 5 ) Culture Beat - "Anything" 2 ( 2 ) Chaka Demus & Pliers - "Twist & Shout" 1 ( 1 ) D:Ream - "Things Can Only Get Better" Don't be obsessed with the Radio One chart & over use this "official" word. It's no better than any other chart. All charts were pretty correct, it's just that they ran a different compilation period. Plus they all made mistakes on more than one occasion.

Pick of the Pops - Tony Blackburn BBC Radio 2.
Wrong 1958 chart. It is 11th Jan & not 4th...Perhaps they didn't want to admit that the real #1, was "Ma, He's Making Eyes At Me". Rubbish NME shite. Record Mirror covered the most shops in 1958. Plus "Ma" was #1 in most published charts.
-
Pick of the Pops - Tony Blackburn BBC Radio 2.
It's not that they can't play certain artists, it's that they choose not too. Also consider this: The show is made by an Independant Production company (Unique Broadcasting). Now they are a team of ex-Capital Radio Producers. Considering you pay a Licence to listen to Radio 2, I don't think it correct that an Independant team, should be producing a BBC Radio show. They have enough producers at Radio 2, to make their own show. Plus they also have their own archives. An enormous place, but rather than use that, Phillip "swillbag" Swern uses some old books. Namely the Guiness Top 40 book Tony Jasper's Top 20 book & the NME 40 Years Of Charts book. A BBC show? No way, it could easily be going out on the awful Gold Network. Terrible show. Plus you'll never get much variety on that show, coz Blackbutt is a "Soul" man & forget late 80s & early 90s house, 70s Punk & Rock. Blackbutt & Swern hate both. And do remember the show is on Radio 2. So, variety must stop at Eurovision. And yep it will be Tuesday 5th January 1982, not Tuesday 12th & you will get the made up, nonsensical NME Chart for 1958 & not the proper BBC chart. Listen to the Classic Retro Countdown instead. We play every record that ever made the charts from 1959 to 1986 & all the original charts that you heard on the original POTP & TOTPs.

Chart Presenter Changes
Certainly does. Cheers. Many thanks to all those that have made "The Ultimate UK Chart" the Top UK Internet Chart show, too. 12,000 likes on Facebook. Overshadowing "The Direct UK Chart" & "The OTC Chart Show" by 3 to 1, every week in listeners & nice to see the Twitter comments from up & coming bands, that support us, as well. Especially Mike Hough. Well done Mike, already #21. Simon Cowell eat your words! :teresa:

Chart Presenter Changes
^ I don't think either station(s) is bothered with the number of listeners. One plays out to numbskulls, the other is full of rabbit & trying to copy the other, by running silly competitions in competition with the other one. Radio One gets it's regular small number 1.5 million & so does the other 2.8 million. Both numbers are relatively small for a chart show e.g. 1981 Radio One got 16 million listeners. In 1986 it was 11 million, but Capital's Network Chart had stolen some from Radio One. These days, Radio 2 has more listeners on a Sunday than either show. But I don't bother listening to BBC or Independant stations. Not to my taste. A bit of information required please. Any takers? Now in the 2002 to 2005 period, Hit40UK lost out to Radio One, because 2 other Independant Groups were running their own chart shows. I know the Emap stations were running "The Smash Hits Chart" with Mark Goodier in the 2003 - 2005 slot. The chart based on sales, airplay & votes from Smash Hits TV & The Hits & The Box tv channels. An interesting chart because it gave new #1s, up to 2 weeks ahead & was compiled by MRIB. The votes bit finished in March 2005 & in April 2005, Goodier was replaced by the excellent Robin Banks, for the final 6 months. It ceased in September 2005 & the Emap group, then started to take Hit40UK, with Lurcio...Well that's what I called him! Meanwhile another group of stations (was it the original Heart?) ran The A List with Melanie Sykes & A.N. Other presenter, where the chart was a confusing Artist chart, taking in Album & Single sales....Anyone any other info on that rather strange show? How long did it run & who was the other co-presenter etc?

The Official Charts 2013 FACTS
There's a technical answer to this one. Yes Capital & Heart have multipler stations around the Country on various frequencies, but Radio One operates from various transmitters & various frequencies around the Country too. Radio One pitted against a certain member of JLS in Top 40 Vs Big Top 40 from Sunday 5th January. Last June, Big Top 40 decided to junk the airplay factor for the complete iTunes chart of the week, but kept the 6pm change around. This might of given them a slightly bigger audience....but in the closing weeks of 2013, they brought back a percentage of airplay figures with the iTunes sales figures. The airplay (now) is only used in conjunction with the sales of songs making the iTunes Top 40 of the week. The other funny ruling of Big Top 40 is the relegation of artist album tracks making the top 40. The album versions of songs are thrown out, if they are featured on an Artists album, but songs charting on compilations (like Now 86) are included with the main single version. So it gets confusing. Though (probably) Big Top 40's regular audience are rather too thick to notice. During the Christmas chart (in the top 10 of the week) they had Sam Bailey at #1. But the 6pm change around relegated her to #2 & Pharrell was crowned Big Top 40 #1! (It was also crowned Christmas #1, without a change around on some other daft chart called "The Direct UK Chart") but that is down to the complilers basing it on iTunes on a Sunday, which could never work on a chart countdown. It has to be based on more than iTunes, especially when there are big physical copies available. Not often, but it happens. The Big Top 40 of the year (of 2013) varied to the Official chart of the year (mainly in the 21 to 40 positions). This was because of those ignoring of Artist album tracks. But (we could say) at least Independant Radio did countdown the Top 40 of the year, where as the BBC did not...They preferred to play out a chart of re-entries, instead of bothering with tradition of playing out any chart of the year, at all. Some say "why don't they put the top 40 on Radio 2?" The answer is they'd never do that, because Radio 2 is not a teenage based radio station. What Radio 2 is aimed out is quite hard to understand. They like lots of rabbit in their programmes. Traffic news all the time, News every single hour. They like employing celebrities....Dodgy on it's own & various people, who talk complete rubbish. Talking Blackburn (of course). Apparenty (says Tony) "Lovin' Spoonful never had a hit in the UK". When (of course) they did. He also failed to recollect that there was no group called "Manic Street Porters" (it was Preachers of course!) And there wasn't a #1 in 1980 called "Coward Of The COUNTRY" (it was COUNTY of course). Taking into account that Blackburn's shows are produced by this "Unique Broadcasting" (a Independant Production company) that used to produce Neil Fox's "Pepsi Chart" & (in all honesty) are all ex-Capital Radio producers anyway. So, we have to question why Radio 2 is letting themselves be run by old celebrities & old Capital Radio producers.....And then we must also ask is Radio 1 losing listeners, because it is broadcasting to such a small age group? (i.e. 12 to 25 year olds)

The Official Charts 2013 FACTS
The real fact. Independant Radio' Big Top 40 (although shite) managed to grab nearly 3 million listeners in the final 6 months of 2013. Though Radio One still manage to flop badly. If they were a department store, they'd be closed down. Oops.

Top Of The Pops 25/12/13
I don't see a 50th Anniversary show up & coming. Personally I think the show's had its day & shouldn't even be shown at Christmas. A newly titled show (preferably without Yates & Cotton) would be a good idea. BBC keep re-hashing old ideas. Dr Who, Basil Brush & other shows. I don't like that. Keep things fresh & not try to bring back the past. The past has gone. You can't touch it. This Country, BBC TV, ITV, BBC Radio & Independant Radio has gone to the dogs. The BBC should be ashamed of themselves for running Radio 2 via an ex-Capital Radio production team of Unique Broadcasting. ITV is awfully run with joint ventures of Sky & the Daily Mail (that trashy Nazi paper) & Independant Local Radio just doesn't exist with the Capital's & Heart's. The Heart was ripped out of radio in the 1990s & the TV too. You want a TV Pop show? Then get a host with talent & interest to compere it & make it for Granny, Grandad, Mum, Dad & the kids. Not just 14 year olds. Get Tim Vine to host it & keep it bouncey, comical & dry a la John Peel. Saturday entertainment could make a comeback. Aha variety!

The Not-So-Good, The Bad And The Plain Weird
Not Christmas #6. Number 2 (revealed on Tuesday 22nd December at 12.30pm on Radio One). Remember Music Week/Record Retailer missed a couple of weeks, in those days & the w/k ending dates came from the week, that it was published. Not the week the chart was announced by the BBC. And the same for 1974. The Wombles were Christmas #2 not #5). It was revealed on Tuesday 24th Dec 1974, with Johnnie Walker.

The Physical #1s of 2013
It varies from particular times of the year. Sometimes a physical may only shifted less than 500 copies & (another time) up to 10,000...but that's usually from charity releases, X Factor goo or other factors.
-
The Physical #1s of 2013
As in the chart of Radio 1 i.e. downloads combined with any physical sales. For all the youngsters, that download. Apparently average people over the age of 40, don't really go for downloading latest hits...Understandable, because the latest hits, are usually awful, anyway. :teresa:

The Physical #1s of 2013
Some's would say "How is this Retro?" It's Retro because the Physical singles sales are irrelevant, unless you are a conniseur of fine uninterfered with music i.e. over the age of 40! Physical Number Ones 2013 6th Jan 13 HE AIN'T HEAVY HE'S MY BROTHER - JUSTICE COLLECTIVE #2 James Arthur #3 Pet Shop Boys (Memory Of The Future) 27th Jan 13 IMPOSSIBLE - JAMES ARTHUR 17th Feb 13 PLEASE DON'T SAY YOU LOVE ME - GABRIELLE APLIN (not a combined #1) 24th Feb 13 ONE WAY OR ANOTHER - ONE DIRECTION 24th Mar 13 WHAT ABOUT US - SATURDAYS #2 One In A Million - Reconnected #3 One Direction #4 Heaven - Depeche Mode 12th May 13 PANIC CORD - GABRIELLE APLIN (not a combined #1) 19th May 13 WHAT ABOUT US - SATURDAYS 30th June 13 WALKS LIKE RIHANNA - THE WANTED (not a combined #1) 7th July 13 GENTLEMAN - SATURDAYS (not a combined #1) 14th July 13 WALKS LIKE RIHANNA - THE WANTED (not a combined #1) 21st July 13 LIGHTHOUSE - LUCY SPRAGGAN (not a combined #1) 28th July 13 WALKS LIKE RIHANNA - THE WANTED (not a combined #1) 25th Aug 13 BEST SONG EVER - ONE DIRECTION only just released physically! 1st Sept 13 EVERYTHING TO ME - SHANE FILAN (not a combined #1) 8th Sept 13 BEST SONG EVER - ONE DIRECTION 6th Oct 13 CAN WE DANCE - THE VAMPS (not a combined #1) 27th Oct 13 TIME OF OUR LIVES - RECONNECTED (not a combined #1, only #33) 3rd Nov 13 TOYBOY - M.A.D. It should of been #42, but they had it at #37) 10th Nov 13 THURSDAY - PET SHOP BOYS & EXAMPLE (the combined chart has more false representation this week, as Lady GaGa is still disqualified & Eminem has had his sales doctored & lowered).
