  1. Yes. They are. So, the million is not happening at the moment.

  3. Neither site appears to have Pop Weekly: A music mag that ran between 1962 & 1966. The author of the site has also made errors in the Top Of The Pops chart i.e. the Rolling Stones first TOTP #1 was "The Last Time" & not "Little Red Rooster", which got stuck at #2 along with "It's All Over Now". This was where the Stones used to go wrong: They always released their singles, at exactly the same time as the Beatles. All the Beatles singles entered the chart at #1 in 1964 preventing the Stones. They corrected the feat in 1965 & released on different weeks.
  4. No Steve. Mike's already included them. He took all the physicals from MRIB, then added in the downloads from the last 5 years from Milward Brown.
  5. I asked Mike to take it back to the start i.e. 1987 & 1994 & the totals are what he come up with. So, didn't bother AJ.
  6. I believe the reason that Jason Donovan is missing the Sunday 31st Dec week, when MRIB always missed the last chart of the year, as their offices always shut. Elsewhere, Jason is quoted as 250. So, I would say you're right. :D I've sorted out David Essex now, & it should be 205.
  7. Correct! Although they did not sample Woolworths, it wasn't such a bad thing (on some points). For instance: It was only the Woolworths tally that pushed St Winifred's School Choir to the #1 spot & previously in 1978, the same went for Brian & Michael's "Matchstick Men & Matchstalk Cats & Dogs"...with that other St Winifred's connection. Mike can only take figures up to 2008, because mrib no longer exist. The other figures have been culled from OCC comps.

  9. There's a lot more to spend money on, that you don't really need in 2011! 1965, I was in my 20s. No Telephone (not really needed). If you wanted to watch TV, then you went to the neighbours house. Most people had a Radiogram. As Radio was a must. If only to listen to Family Favourites, Pick Of The Pops, & The Clitheroe Kid! But those figures given are no bases for today. You could buy a house for a couple of thousand in 1965. It would take about 10 years to buy it, so it's not much different than today. A house in the South East today...say £180,000 for a terrace & it takes nearly 20 years to pay for it. No, we were better off in 1965. Crime was low & the country wasn't grossly overpopulated. On the whole people had more manners. There was no "I want, I want, I want", because you couldn't have it anyway! If you did have a TV, it wasn't over run with bad soap operas, all running the same storylines. You could actually have a good laugh, because people were not afraid of upsetting others, & censorship was rather limited. Give me 1965, any day & yes Harold Wilson, as Prime Minister. Yep, you saved your shillings for the gas meter & if you had electricity in your house, then you were lucky! The record buying public were not that hard up, because you had the #1 single selling at 200,000 a week, not just at Christmas. So, that's nonsense to start with. Though possibly, because everyone was definately not waisting money on things that, they simply did not need i.e. the high waste of cost of Mobile Phones...quite easily the biggest unneeded high cost thing ever invented today.
  10. The Almost Saturday Chart is a Mike Robinson Production, based on an average of download sites, iTunes sales & Physical sales. Quick Christmas Cracker joke here:  How do monkeys make toast? Put the bread under the Gorilla, of course! It would be nice to have a monkey for Christmas, but this year we're having turkey again! :puke2: I don't get this one: Driving instructor & female learner. Instructor says' "The lights are green". Female learner replies "Frog?" Totally threw me that one. A big drop in sales will follow next week & it will struggle to do 700,000. It'll drop further & will not make 800,000 in total all told. Sounds about right. A pretty bad Christmas sales period (without Military Wives) & Little Mix won't get more than 122,000. Next week's album chart will see Michael Buble struggle to hold a top 10 place & Adele will return to #1, says Mike. Really??
  11. Isn't it because it was not eligible for the Radio One top 40, for it's first few weeks? So, those sales will be missed out. According to my old mate Mike Robinson, it's only sold 325,000 not 345,000. So, who knows!
  12. This one's better. Download & listen at your peril! http://www.mediafire.com/file/968jg0tornmk...Xmas%202010.mp3 You'll need the password. Which is freeradio
  13. Thought it'd been cover well here, for the last 4 years! Open thou eyes & thee shall find. try this thread: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=57525
  14. davetaylor posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
Agreed! Tell you why (& some will scream at me for this): Back before 1960, we had National Service in the UK, yep? So, every man had to go into the services (excluding those with health problems & those with flat feet). These days, you joined the Services of your own free will. If you have to fight or go on to the Front Line & are afraid of what will happen...Then you shouldn't join up!
  15. Yeah. I get your drift. Guess it means that Radio One lost 6million between 1986 & 1997, because of the 1993 Radio axing of all the old tribe of presenters, or everybody hated Bruno Brookes & Mark Goodier.
  16. I wouldn't say it's difficult to understand how it works. Currently it's Sun to Sat sales for the Top 10 for the week on iTunes for the 4-4.30pm countdown. Then you've got the 40-11 50/50 airplay for the week. So, thats the chart for the week & the only part with any sense at all. The 6pm Lockdown on the Live iTunes Top 10 is the bit, where they try to be ahead of Radio One, but because they don't include multipli versions of songs together, you end up with the wrong number one...like Flo Rida's "Good Feeling", which definately wasn't really at the top at any point. Over in Australia, they broadcast the "Live" iTunes Top 40, but on that all multipli versions are linked together & it's a good show.
  17. I'm horrified that 2.5million actually listen to it. Are they not paying attention &/or are they just plain thick? Looking at some figures for Radio One vs Independant Radio, the other day: In 1986: Radio One Top 40 11million The Network Top 30 6million In 1997: Radio One Top 40 5million The Pepsi Chart 5.5million In 2005: Radio One Top 40 2.5million Hit40UK (Capital) 2million Smash Hits Chart (Emap) .2million The A List (Heart) .3million 2011: Radio One Top 40 1million Big Top 40 2.5million Can't quite get my head around how Independant Radio, haven't lost as many listeners, as Radio One in 25 years. Independant Radio 6million in 1986 & 2.5 today. Radio One 11million in 1986 & 1million today.
  18. Some of that email is from 2009. But it still beggars the question...If they don't intend playing certain songs, then why are they in there in the first place? Airplay = We play it on our stations, surely to goodness?
  19. 7" Vinyl at £3.99 if you please! :o
  20. Don't know mate. I don't put it together. Coldplay have only shifted 8000 a day since then, so that's Tuesday/Weds/Thurs...maybe Mike's missed some days. In which case it's more like 61/62,000.
  21. Friday 16th December 2011 (Just a week to Winter) The Almost Saturday Charts are a Mike Robinson Production. Top Physicals (Shame this isn't the chart that counts today, as it's much better than the awful chart full of overplayed Christmas songs & Tuneless wonders of the download age, that teenage girls aged 13 to 30 buy...& yeah 30 year olds, with a mentallity of a teenager. There's lots around believe me). 22. No one in the Media should judge anyone & the list is endless. Spector is currently serving a prison sentence. James Brown was a convict, as was Ike Turner. You can add in R. Kelly & Jonathan King & Gary Glitter. But then if you going down that road, then Jerry Lee Lewis married a 13 year old. Suddenly a pattern emerges here. If you are British & was convicted, apparently you don't get airplay. Now, I wonder...What if a certain Mr Jackson had been found guilty? Either way, TV & Radio should not do the judging. Even the JK & GG still have fans, & then there are the hyped Newspaper stories & bugging, like we've found out in the last year. Should those two be omitted from re-runs of Top Of The Pops? Of course not, they are no worse than anyone else of the criminal variety. It appears they both have sexual problems, which in an ideal world, would be treated in a special hospital for cases of such. Another tale of failed Government funding for Hospitals today.
  23. Elaine Coombs aged 16 from Salisbury was the winner & she chose the name of "Legs & Co". Elaine appeared on the show with the girls & Dave Lee Travis. The girls performed their routine to "Spinning Rock Boogie" by Hank C. Burnette. That show is missing, of course. Though maybe Elaine has it? The 2 Christmas Editions go out on Christmas Morning & 1977 begins with Kid Jensen on 5th Jan 2012, when the 7.30 showing will be edited because it's a 40 minute show in a half hour slot.
  24. Updated the top 30 on page 3. Mainly because that part of the chart is more correct than the rest, as it does base itself on sales from a 1992 chart, with added singles since then. Other sites do have these lists, but go in to the realms of fantasy with some songs. One quotes Dickie Valentine, as only selling 200,000...definately wrong & Dana certainly passed over 200,000 too. Record sales (45s that is, were at their peak from 1978-1984 & then fell off). And 1975 sales were bigger than 10 years before.
