For some reason (which someone might clarify) The Pinkees & Danger Games did not chart at all on the Record Business top 120. Richard Allinson presented the UK Top 30 part on Capital Radio 194, at 2pm every Sunday ahead of the BBC. Although this week in 1982, we were quite lucky because Simon Bates was sitting in for the disaster that was Tommy Vance (hard to believe it took 2 years before they finally removed him). The Line-up of Adrian Juste, Jimmy Savile's Old Record Club, Music Now (with David Jensen, & some new releases), the Great Rock N' Roll Trivia Quiz, the top 40, & Anne Nightingale's Request Show took us through Radio One's schedule on a Sunday. Where as Capital were rather easy going with the likes of Tony Myatt, Richard Allinson, Hullaballoo, Charlie Gillett, Greg Edwards, & also the Sunday Arts Programme "Artbeat". 01 01 PASS THE DUTCHIE - MUSICAL YOUTH 02 04 DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME - CULTURE CLUB 03 02 ZOOM - FAT LARRY'S BAND 04 07 HARD TO SAY I'M SORRY - CHICAGO 05 13 JACKIE WILSON SAID - DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS 06 06 LOVE COME DOWN - EVELYN KING 07 18 STARMAKER - KIDS FROM FAME 08 10 JUST WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED - MARI WILSON 09 05 THERE IT IS - SHALAMAR 10 03 THE BITTEREST PILL - THE JAM 11 08 FRIEND OR FOE - ADAM ANT 12 16 GLITTERING PRIZE - SIMPLE MINDS 13 20 HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN - ANIMALS 14 09 WHY - CARLY SIMON 15 12 WALKING ON SUNSHINE - ROCKER'S REVENGE 16 11 EYE OF THE TIGER - SURVIVOR 17 33 LIFELINE - SPANDAU BALLET 18 21 REAP THE WILD WIND - ULTRAVOX 19 17 SADDLE UP - DAVID CHRISTIE 20 45 ANNIE I'M NOT YOUR DADDY - KID CREOLE 21 15 ALL OF MY HEART - ABC 22 44 ZIGGY STARDUST - BAUHAUS 23 RE LOVE ME DO - BEATLES 24 22 TAKE A CHANCE WITH ME - ROXY MUSIC 25 14 PRIVATE INVESTIGATIONS - DIRE STRAITS 26 27 SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO - CLASH 27 23 IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT - IMAGINATION 28 35 BACK ON THE CHAIN GANG - PRETENDERS 29 25 LEAVE IN SILENCE - DEPECHE MODE 30 26 INVITATIONS - SHAKATAK 31 29 SO HERE I AM - UB40 32 41 NEVER GIVE YOU UP - SHARON REDD 33 19 THE MESSAGE - GRANDMASTER FLASH & THE FURIOUS FIVE 34 28 CHANCES - HOT CHOCOLATE 35 24 GIVE ME YOUR HEART TONIGHT - SHAKIN STEVENS 36 48 AMOR - JULIO IGLESIAS 37 NE LIFE IN TOKYO - JAPAN 38 32 TODAY - TALK TALK 39 NE I WANNA DO IT WITH YOU - BARRY MANILOW 40 NE MAD WORLD - TEARS FOR FEARS The Pre-Order Singles this week (2010) 01 LOVE YOU MORE - JLS 15th Nov 02 HEART VACANCY - WANTED 18th Oct 03 FLOOD - TAKE THAT 15th Nov 04 BEST BEHAVIOUR - N-DUBZ 18th Oct 05 GOTTA BE SOMEBODY 8th Nov So, Sunday 21st Nov will be JLS on top with the Children In Need cash up. I edge my bets on either Black Eyed Peas or Duffy taking the Christmas Artist number one album. Mind you listening to a Duffy preview last week, I think it's exactly the same as her last output. Hold on, I think I've finally got the answer. "To The Manor Born", suddenly sprung to me!

That was what brought it up. Someone was talking about Beautiful People (cos it's set Reading), but I remember the story be used before. Certainly over the last 30 years, that why I don't think it was Sykes. The Sykes storyline (abeit holiday) concerns Eric & Hat going to the airport & missing the plane, then spending a week at Gatwick airport. It's been nagging on me all week.

up.

It's Friday 8th October (not 2th Sept as it says. That's just Dave in preparation) Evening All. Alan Rogers standing in for Dave for the next 2 weeks. Dave's on holiday. I'm not (unfortunately  ). Glad to be jumping his account & PC though. Well it didn't seem worth joining as a new member as Dave already did a template for me. Only hope I don't log myself out, because I don't know his secret password, & I'm also invisible by the look of the members online list. Thanks to Mikey for his welcoming message the other day>>Thanks mate. Hopefully no probs. Message from Dave, Mikey was>>Will you send me the usual chart on Sunday Evening? Cheers. ;) A lovely day today with temperatures topping out at 70 degrees in the heart of Berkshire. Must've been the hottest October day this Century. On with job, eyes down looking, as it's business as usual. I usually help the old boy (Dave that is) with the gang & it's the charts of the week from Sun to Fri, based on the usual claptrap of averages/sales & then the back in an hour or so, for the big singles/songs of the week. The audience were mainly ladies (which was a bonus on it's own). The film itself (from the book of course) does just like the title suggests. Liz Gilbert (the main character) gets divorced, & travels the world. Eating in Italy, Praying in India, & finding love in Bali. Though I did actually understand why the audience was mainly ladies, & found it rather cliched. Infact the top 5 will. Rumer definately a Smooth Radio push, & they've got Mr Boring working for them, or is it Mr Mistake? That's Mark Goodier. If you've have time to give him a listen Mon-Fri 10am-1pm, you'll see what I mean. Reading some of Dave's comments on him, I quite see what he means. I can understand why Mark, no longer works for the BBC. I know his ex-top 40 producer, & remembering him saying Mark has a brain like a sieve, & he had to write everything down for him. Well it's been a hard week, you know! Though it apparently was late in coming, if I'm correct.

Well thanks to Bray there, for pointing that out. I must admit to not being the greatest fan of TT. Can't help but think, that maybe there's no room in music for innuendo. Keep it clean, I say! Although on the London Chart, the Scorpions did spend 2 weeks at the top. 1991 also gave the first Midweek chart to listen to via Capital FM. On a Wednesday it were, with someone called Neil Fox. Much better days for Independant Radio...before they decided to totally make up the charts! Although in 1991, Mariah Carey's "Emotions" did hop up to number 6 on Capital's Local top 40, while it barely scraped top 20 on the Network Chart (still introduced by David Kid Jensen at this point). I don't recall Tina Turner re-entrying the chart, but she did apparently. Can anyone help with a good memory? The other day a bunch of us were discussing TV Sitcoms. We were try to rack our brains into which Sitcom had this plot: The people of the house can't afford a holiday, but want the rest of the street to think they are on holiday. So, they go out of the front door & double back round to the back door. They go back in the house & try to stay out of sight for a week, not switching on any lights or anything. Can anyone remember which Sitcom featured that Storyline? I've been trying all week & I can't get it. I thought it may have been "Sykes", but don't think it was.

Well i don't speak Afrikaans! It may have been confusing, because of a certain Irish band also called The Answer...Remember them?

If they don't make the 40, then they will never be included because the BBC do not recognise positions outside the top 40 & are not allowed to mention positions 41-75 anyway.

The only thing he's likely to be top of again! In his first whole week, Tony sold 63,000 in total which was a combo of the Hardback & the airport paperback. It wasn't the fastest selling book of all time though. That one goes to David Beckham. "My Side" sold 86,126 in 2 days & 103,508 in it's first full week, back in 2003. It's good to know that books in general are still selling well, in this lazy computer age. Though I must admit to reading the unpublished Dr Who Target novels online, but reading from a screen does tend to mess your eyes up, after a bit. I don't reckon it was ever the same again, & the plots were harder & harder to follow. But Saturday night & the BBC certainly won the schedules of Saturdays in general Just outside the top 20, there was Top Of The Pops, Happy Ever After, Tomorrow's World (3 Thursday night BBC winners), The Streets Of San Francisco, & The Fall & Rise Of Reginald Perrin. It will not appear on Radio One. But it should coz lots of people have paid for it.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean. I'd not put that one on the list! But I have now.

I thought I had. It's a case of the track not being registered by the artist, to Milward Brown/OCC. So, it doesn't get a code, or a chart position. So, they ignore any sales. In this case, we are talking about some nearly 20,000 sales! We always include them in our lists, because we don't have any rules. If it's purchased, we`ll include it. Radio One won't feature it on Sunday. Any sales will go to the original Soulja Boy version only, with Greg Street ignored by them altogether.

What do we say about Alex Street & the non allowed Milward Brown entry? I say this: The chart is supposed to be about what people have bought. If something is excluded for whatever reason (in this case it's about non-registration), it makes a chart a farce. Whers's Brian Rix! It's supposed to be a survey about the general public's music purchases. Why should an act, have to register with some Market Research company? They do the research, so it shouldn't make any difference! The same thing applies to the Bruno Mars #1 Tribute Band too...Not here it don't. You buy it, we survey it! Now, I would say don't forget The Fresh Hit40UK across the Net on Sunday at 4pm, but as we now broadcast from Spain, the internet connection over there is not great, so expect break ups on the feeds if you listen at HeartFMSpain.com

Jimmy Tarbuck was approached to present after Larry, but turned it down. Remarkabley BBC1 had turned down a version of Game For A Laugh, which they made a pilot of, with Paul Daniels in 1980! So, then the BBC turned to Noel Edmonds, & 1982 brought us the first season of the ill-fated & annoying "Late Late Breakfast Show", which got off to a bad start in the Ratings. Well ITV were still doing well with Game For A Laugh, & you either loved Edmonds or loathed him. I was on the latter side! Couldn't stand the man! In theory, the BBC kind of nicked the Game For A Laugh idea back, for Noel anyway. Which also included the even more annoying Mike "Smitty" Smith & the dreaded "Wheelie Wheel". The Top Albums in Sept 1982: Alison & Vince ruling & top marks for knocking off the Kids From Fame! Cliff with the biggest climber & a pretty good album, all be it for "The Only Way Out", no surprise for the crash down on the following week. Survivor were quite happy with their own album, as well as featuring on the Soundtrack to "Rocky III", just outside the top 20. With many other Stations playing out the British Market Research Bureau chart, during the morning meaning you didn't have to listen to Tommy "what am I saying" Vance on Radio One! We were still on the never ending tv show "Fame"...the 80s Glee possibly? But some great clssics with Rocker's Revenge covering Eddie Grant. Toto Coelo featuring Bob Holness' daughter. Incidently Bob was actually the first James Bond, all be it in a Radio version. Dire Straits with a long one, as depressing as ever, although no Chris Rea! Shakin Stevens just scraped the top ten, but not on Radio One. Good advice from Haircut 100 & Be Nobody's Fool. THe Grandmaster Flash became a advert about crossing the road later. Modern Romance were lost in the 50s. Sting doing Brimstone & Treacle the Dennis Potter play turned into film. Euro-pop via David Christie. We all loved Captain Sensible's "Wot" & of course another "What" via Soft Cell up there. Carly Simon was all over the radio, even Radio 2 played "Why". Obviously Bing Crosby will not be included in this list, but the likely number 101 is Kylie & Jason closely follow by Little Jimmy Osmond.

I've changed that one. And of course Katy will top the album chart, this time next week for sure.
