The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 9th Apr 2010
More often than not, they do. Though a few have missed the top spot. Now 27 springs to mind, because this week in 1994, Pink Floyd`s Division Bell held it off.

Unfortunately SFG can`t be budged from the top. It could be a very quiet chart in all, because N-dubz could fall out of the top 40 in favour of the other one from Florence. Don`t forget to stay ahead with the chart join Jason Scott on the Superstation http://www.thesuperstation.info from 4pm on Sunday, and at 7pm those bubblers & future hits...before anyone else, and non-stop. Meanwhile, did you ponder over that person, who had 2 consecutive Easter number ones? Well, it was actually Madonna "Like A Prayer" in 1989 & "Vogue" in 1990. Emma Bunton did get 2, one with the Spice Girls & one solo, but they weren`t consecutive anyway!

By the way if you are in too vintage sitcoms, there are currently two of the worse ever made showing on Film24 (Sky 157) on Sundays at 7pm. They are "Take A Letter Mr Jones" with John Inman/Rula Lenska/Miriam Margoyles followed by "That Beryl Marston" with Julia McKenzie/Gareth Hunt/Jonathon Morris...They are both Southern Television at it`s worse, and no wonder they lost their franchise after this dross! Mind you, they also run Kids TV, like "Freewheelers" & "The Flockton Flyer" during the week, so not so bad. There are also some rarely seen B & W films too. Possibly we await a re-run of Jon Pertwee`s "Worzel Gummidge" too. More good news is, forthcoming plans to show more archive stuff like "Sapphire & Steel" a la David Macallum/Joanna Lumley, "The Gemini Man" (Ben Murphy), Cannon...a less often screened detective show made by Quinn Martin. Which could mean we might get "The Fugitive" (the original series) which deserves a complete re-run. On the detective thing, they already show the original B & W series of "Burke`s Law" on Fridays at 10.30am. Overall probably one of the better Satellite Channels. How The Chart Show Used To Sound
That one though, not the original programme. It`s a re-make from the 90s, and in September 1967, Pick Of The Pops was running at the length of 90 minutes (not 60), and featured the new entries between 30 & 11, the new releases and the complete top 10. Where as, when Radio One started it increased to 2 hours, with the new entries 30 - 21, the new releases, and the complete top 20 from 5.55pm.

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 26th Mar 2010
Actually got a plot, to sabotage the BigTop40 today. As we know on iTunes Telephone is #3 & #11, now wouldn`t it be fun to get that #11 version in the top 10 too, for 6pm! How would those two, at Capital explain that one?! Well they wouldn`t combine them, so they will get the number one 100% wrong anyway!

British National Top-50
It would seem a good idea, it this particular chart was used by Independant Radio instead of that awful BigTop40. I also like the way, that both versions of Empire State Of Mind are lumped together.

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 19th Mar 2010
Unfotunate mistake Ben. As on this print-out there are 2 nineteens, as listed Agnes/Alphabeat/Gaga/Marina. I guess Agnes was a print error, as there are the 2 A initials, and wasn`t it supposed to be On And On, for Agnes. I seem to have a title of On My Heart, surely some mistake! And not made up as our learned friend says!

On this EP covering such delights as the title track, and a brilliant rendition of "I Write The Songs" 20 22 MR TELEPHONE MAN - NEW EDITION the 6 piece from Boston, that included the likes of Bobby Brown & Ralph Tresvant 21 29 WON`T YOU HOLD MY HAND NOW - KING Paul King getting a somewhat smaller follow up to "Love & Pride" 22 22 MOVE CLOSER - PHYLLIS NELSON the late lady from Los Angeles, who died of Breast Cancer in 1998. This was her only major UK hit, but it only peaked at number 2 on the Network Top 30, although topped the Gallup Chart. It was re-ssued in 1994, after being used in some deoderant commercial 23 12 I KNOW HIM SO WELL - ELAINE PAIGE/BARBARA DICKSON the Lloyd Webber combi, that couldn`t go wrong, and it came from the musical "Chess" 24 20 DANCING IN THE DARK - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Bruce`s re-issue from 1984, and 1985 turned out to be his year in the UK, after a string of flops 25 42 COVER ME - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN beside himself with joy, then! 26 15 METHOD OF MODERN LOVE - DARYL HALL/JOHN OATES the Philadelphia duo, who deserved so much more in the UK, and never really got it. It was hard being a male Yankee, in Britain wasn`t it? 27 NE SHAKESPEARE`S SISTER - SMITHS Morrisey and the gang, and getting radioplay on Independant Stations! 28 35 THE HEAT IS ON - GLEN FREY the Detrot born Eagles member, on a solo trip, a la Don Henley 29 54 COULD IT BE I`M FALLING IN LOVE - DAVID GRANT/JAKI GRAHAM Hackney meets Birmingham, with David (ex-Linx) and Jaki getting her first hit. A cover of "Ain`t Nobody" swelled her career in the U.S. in 1994 30 24 FALLEN ANGELS RIDING - DAVID ESSEX David Cooke the Actor/Singer/Superstar from Godspell to Evita, who released his first single in 1963. What was it called, you say? "And The Tears Came Tumblin`Down" is the answer. He was just 16, and this year he`s 63...and very tongue in cheek, as ever! Only the top 30 aired on the Network Chart in 1985, as David smoothey Jensen glanced into his Crystal Ball to predict 3 entries in the following week`s show. Those were "Now That We Found Love" from Third World, "Spend The Night" from the Cool Notes, & "Love Is A Battlefield" with Pat Benatar. All of them cracked the top 30, the next week. Wasn`t the programme so much better, than Radio One`s dire Richard Skinner, and the week behind chart?! Actually from memory...I believe this week in 1985, Timmy Mallet did the Network Top 30, and not the Kid...I was not listening to either show, mainly because there was a Wednesday Countdown on Radio Mercury with Pat Sharp, and quite superior. Strange how Pat, became the Kid`s stand in from 1989-1993! And Pat (of course) had previously worked for Radio One, between 82/83, and also presented Top Of The Pops. This Mercury Top 40, actually featured a midweek chart...possibly the first broadcasted, and lasted well into the 90s. An idea poached by Capital Radio in 1991, when all of a sudden Neil Fox presented a Wednesday show between 7.30 & 10pm. Clive Warren was his stand-in. And (of course) he became Mark Goodier`s stand in, around 1995...before the not so good Scott Mills. Clive Warren returned to local radio in the late 1990s, turning up around the Berkshire areas, and last heard on Reading 107fm.
