iTunes Chart: December V
Who knows? I just typed it! Maybe it ain`t been combined. For instance on a certain Big Top 40 show, last Sunday...the info for the full week pulled off on Wednesday, and still showed RATM at #1! On Monday Cheryl was 19 and 42. It usually only pushes the first position about 5 higher anyway. FFTL is still doing better on other sites than that of iTunes. It`s #6 on one download site.

Yep, virtually the show is a waste of space and basically a repeat! :puke2: Thank God for "Are You Being Served" then! :D

The Almost Christmas Day Charts
I guessed so! It was actually strange that Tom Browne turned up in Emmerdale Farm in 1979. He originally left the top 20 to present some European pop show. The ITV Strike (Aug-Nov 1979) put pay to his appearances in Emmerdale Farm, as he suddenly disappeared on the show`s return in Nov 1979, and was never mentioned again.

That says it all. A chappy agreed today that Christmas tv is getting worse every year. Hard to believe in the day...No Soaps were ever shown on Christmas Day. They were cancelled for entertainment. A bunch of Sitcoms, and some decent comics i.e. the great Dave Allen/Stanley Baxter/Mike Yarwood/Dick Emery...No need to go on really. When a re-hashed TOTP goes out in it`s old regular spot on a Thursday(New Year`s Eve), we must question the BBC and the licence fee even more. I suppose we could`ve watched that so called "Gold" Satellite channel that seems to be turning into "Only Fools And Horses" TV...but that would be even more futile, by paying for the watching of a BBC show again and again, and again. Independant Radio didn`t feature this chart, as they were buggered up with the Pepsi Chart 1993...and Blobby didn`t feature on that at all! Neither did Jazzy Jeff/Fresh Prince! Airplay still crap, back then. They did favour Billy Joel and Freddie Mercury rather a lot, as the most played. 01 I`D DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE BUT I WON`T DO THAT - MEAT LOAF 02 ALL THAT SHE WANTS - ACE OF BASS 03 CAN`T HELP FALLING IN LOVE - UB40 04 MR BLOBBY - MR BLOBBY 05 NO LIMIT - 2 UNLIMITED 06 BABE - TAKE THAT 07 MR VAIN - CULTURE BEAT 08 PRAY - TAKE THAT 09 FIVE LIVE EP - GEORGE MICHAEL 10 I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU - WHITNEY HOUSTON 11 DREAMS - GABRIELLE 12 YOUNG AT HEART - BLUEBELLS 13 OH CAROLINA - SHAGGY 14 BOOM BOOM SHAKE THE ROOM - JAZZY JEFF/FRESH PRINCE 15 TEASE ME - CHAKA DEMUS 16 WHAT IS LOVE - HADDAWAY 17 PLEASE FORGIVE ME - BRYAN ADAMS 18 RELIGHT MY FIRE - TAKE THAT 19 TRUE LOVE - ELTON JOHN/KIKI DEE 20 LIVING ON MY OWN - FREDDIE MERCURY 21 DON`T BE A STRANGER - DINA CARROLL 22 INFORMER - SNOW 23 THE KEY - URBAN COOKIE COLLECTIVE 24 RIVER OF DREAMS - BILLY JOEL 25 IT KEEPS RAININ`- BITTY MCCLEAN 26 TWO PRINCES - SPIN DOCTORS 27 WHAT`S UP - FOUR NON BLONDES 28 MOVIN`ON UP - M PEOPLE 29 GONNA MAKE YOU SWEAT - INNER CIRCLE 30 LOVE SONG FOR A VAMPIRE/LITTLE BIRD - ANNIE LENNOX 31 SHE DON`T LET KNOW BODY - CHAKA DEMUS 32 WHY CAN`T I WAKE UP WITH YOU - TAKE THAT 33 COULD IT BE MAGIC - TAKE THAT 34 TWIST AND SHOUT - CHAKA DEMUS 35 YOU GOT 2 LET THE MUSIC - CAPPELLA 36 LOVE I LOST - SYBIL 37 MR LOVERMAN - SHABBA RANKS 38 EXTERMINATE - SNAP! 39 ARE YOU GONNA GO MY WAY - LENNY KRAVITZ 40 RIGHT HERE - SWV 41 AIN`T NO LOVE AIN`T NO USE - SUB SUB 42 WHEN I`M GOOD AND READY - SYBIL 43 TRIBAL DANCE - 2 UNLIMITED 44 EVERYBODY HURTS - R.E.M. 45 THAT`S THE WAY LOVE GOES - JANET JACKSON 46 GO WEST - PET SHOP BOYS 47 BOOM SHACK-A-LACK - APACHE INDIAN 48 GIVE INTO ME - MICHAEL JACKSON 49 SHOW ME LOVE - ROBIN S 50 GIVE IT UP - GOODMEN What we are going to do on the Flashback, this year is to feature the years 1982, 1985, 1991, 1994 & an older chart from an older period. That`s because some have said can we see some earlier years, rather than being stuck in the late 70s/early 80s/90s. So, I will add in some from the late 60s and early 70s, over a rota. Say 1967/70/73/76/79 on every 5th week. Thus providing chart info/tv info from the start of Radio One, until the axeman cometh in 1994. But not using Radio One`s charts, and staying independant for EMI/Record Business/MRIB. The Top Pre-Order Singles minus those songs available on download already: 01 RIVERSIDE - SIDNEY SAMPSON 4th Jan (We reckon next week`s #1) 02 ECHO - GIRLS CAN`T CATCH 18th Jan 03 WHERE ARE WE - LOST PROPHETS 4th Jan 04 HURTFUL - ERIK HASSLE 8th Feb 05 MANY OF HORROR - BIFFY CLYRO 18th Jan The Top Pre-Order Albums: 01 THE BETRAYED - LOST PROPHETS 18th Jan 02 CONTRA - VAMPIRE WEEKEND 11th Jan 03 ACOLYTE - DELPHIC 11th Jan 04 HOLD ME DOWN - YOU ME AT SIX 11th Jan 05 REBIRTH - LIL`WAYNE 1st Feb The Week on iTunes: Note: Last week on the Big Top 40 at the start, the week`s top ten only covered 4 days... The Almost Christmas Day Charts
Not only that, but the Christmas songs will start to tumble too...as their popularity where`s off, as Christmas Eve turns to Christmas Day/Boxing Day. Poor Slade, and Bob Dylan looked like he could have a single top 50 hit, for the first time in years! Due to that showing on TOTP2 yesterday.

Number 7 actually mate, but I think we both mean, that Soap!

The Almost Christmas Day Charts
Where do you get the number 6 from? Or have you spotted another connection there? I was actually connecting the fact that both Tom Browne & Dev have acted in a certain programme. Are we having the same thought?

The Almost Christmas Day Charts
Overall Pixie has sold better on iTunes, than other Download sites...that`s the position. It`s very acurate at this point. The hidden thing abut iTunes is the other versions available. Not on Pixie, but other songs such as the multi Pogues/Carey/Cheryl etc. We count all versions together, which is what the people at Big Top 40 do. You can check out the top 10 portion at the start of Big Top 40 in comparison (although there may be a little change because it`s 2 days until Sunday). Pixie will be lower, on the proper chart because of other people`s physicals/other download sites...like you say, there is no physical of Cry Me Out. The physicals of Peter Kay & X Factor Finalists push her out of the top 20 on their own, as well as the combination of other sites & other physicals.

The Almost Christmas Day Charts
It happen to Pixie last week though. 18 on iTunes towards the end of the week, and only 26 on the proper Sunday chart.

The Almost Christmas Day Charts
I do agree. Possibly poor old Shaky was out of favour by 1990. Which was a shame.

Joe heading upwards of 70,000+ ahead. Could he clear well over 200k, this week? Comparing to previous years i.e. 1967-83, when the chart was never announced over week 52...3 occasions come to mind of a change of #1, when no charts were announced, these were 1970, when Clive Dunn overtook Dave Edmunds. 1971, when Benny Hill was overtaken by the New Seekers. 1980, was dodgy in that St Winifreds/John Lennon/Jona Lewie battle, when apparently the #4 overtook all 3. As Lennon`s other re-entry "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)", the #1 that never was...or was it?

Are you not fogetting "The Floral Dance" in 1977...6 weeks behind "Mull Of Kintyre?" Not exactly Christmas song, but shifting quite a lot.

Stuck at Number Two for Christmas
Got to say that I Love You & Cliff was not a Christmas #1, neither was Moon River for Danny Williams...Danny got there after Christmas, as the dates were different. Cliff never got to #1. On Pick Of The Pops, he peaked at #2. Although either way, Elvis remained at the top with It`s Now Or Never, because again the dates differed. I believe it was 27th Dec for Moon River, and the chart for 1960 changed on the 29th.

Sales difference between 'Joe' & 'Rage Against the Machine'
Yes. Don`t forget we`ve got about 200 people that used to think were good!

Sales difference between 'Joe' & 'Rage Against the Machine'
Well, Big Top 40 are based only on downloads, and RATM are the complete week`s winner on iTunes. Whether the "live" Chart will change it...Is highly unlikely. If Radio One gets more listeners, than usual...then those people that haven`t listen to it for years, are in for a bit of a shock, when they find out what a mess the Radio One Countdown has become! :puke2:

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 25th Dec 2009
Isn`t it just amazing how hype works...It only takes one person! Thank you Chris/Mike, on a thread that at it`s most, gets around 900 hits...this week get`s 5,000+. And it`s all unofficial. No, wonder David Jensen pulled Radio One`s listeners in 1984!

Bulk purchasing, Robbie...Now that leads to dsq!

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 25th Dec 2009
Either way, the charts are totally manipulated by factors of Cowell...and even the rather ridiculous manipulation of Facebook. Can`t people buy something for quality, rather than hype and not get drawn in by following the crowd? I mean how many people actually thought about quality in either case? It just to goes to show that the average person in the record buying public has the head full of mush. If you take both songs away...you end up with Lady Gaga/Robbie/3OH!3. Robbie`s single has surged because of his appearance on that bloody programme anyway. So, we can take him out. Downloads of the week show 3OH!3 have outsold GaGa. So, 3OH!3 would be top download without the hype (for the younger bunch). George Michael top Physical without the hype. What do we deduce from that, and what sex/age are the most people that went out and bought Joe? Are they middle aged women, who bought the bloody thing for their kids?

The Almost Christmas Day Charts
The Almost Sats on a Thurs! Why you ask? Well, we`d never get the information from "dead" Britain on Christmas Day. So, better thank Brian/Steve/Don/Simon and the lovely Jo, at DTR headquarters in a difficult week in Berkshire. With the worst snowfalls since January 1986. Global Warming, what's that? Pah!!! And shame on Asda (Lower Earley) for having the most dangerous Car Park/badly run store in the Country (probably). Well done Morrison`s for cleaning up and managing the checkouts brilliantly. Also, thanks to Thames Travel for keeping the rural buses running, while Reading buses couldn`t manage to keep their`s going at all! :puke2: Thursday 24th December The Top Books: Compiled by Neilsen 01 04 THE LOST SYMBOL - DAN BROWN 02 01 GUINESS WORLD RECORDS - GUINESS BOOKS 03 02 ECLIPSE - STEPHENIE MEYER 04 03 TWILIGHT - STEPHENIE MEYER 05 07 GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO - STEIG LARSSON 06 06 WHERE'S STIG - BBC BOOKS 07 18 HANDLE WITH CARE - JODI PICOULT 08 05 DELIA'S HAPPY CHRISTMAS - DELIA SMITH 09 09 OH! Remember we told you that on the combined front last Friday, that Joe was 19,000 ahead...well by mid Saturday, he was 4,000 in front. Then came the hammering by RATM. 63,000 passed through the download sector in less than 12 hours. Some people suggested that this thread helped RATM get there! With nearly 7,000 hits maybe it did. Some others suggested that Uncle Dave, was lying to you as a gimmick! No point in lying, so I don`t. With 40+ years in the business, and so many contacts and the research company we still have shares in, we can`t go wrong. So, stick with us every week. It may not be Official, but I look at it this way...Even in the 70s/80s, at certain points in the week NME/Melody Maker/MRIB were all correct from their break off periods. Except no one chart could be certain in the 50s/60s...So, we always take in the BBC Averaged Chart, not some daft magazine that Guiness Books decided to use for those periods, where most of the time...not more than 50 shops were polled! Let them try and tell you that the Beatles didn`t get to #1 with Please Please Me, or Mr Acker Bilk didn`t either, for instance. Then later they try to say Des O`Conner had a #1! Utter rubbish. No one followed the Record Retailer chart in the 60s. Bad mananagement in the OCC (previously CIN) has even messed up the archive of sales figures, from the 50s-70s...They ain`t got them all. High Street shops in the 50s/60s, either used a local chart or the Melody Maker Top 50 (which surveyed 150 shops by 1968). If you would like a full list of the charts compiled by the BBC, for the proper chart years 1957-69 (a good Christmas present) email me at davericktaylor@yahoo.co.uk Just before the latest singles chart compiled by DTR...A teaser. On Radio One`s Top 40 Show on Sunday, Dev (Devin Griffin to you & me) presents. Now Dev has something in common with former Solid Gold Sixty/Top Twenty host "Tom Browne" (the best ever host)...but what is the connection?
