  1. I think the difference between 89000 and 89004 isn't really significant. Its just faffing about to bother with anything else. Just be glad we have the figures! Thanks vc :)
  2. This needs to happen UK/US please! (With video and physical please)
  3. Is that Worldwide or just the US?! Who's the award from?
  4. This! Whatever wikipedia says. TFM was always designed as a deluxe re-release. Gaga just wanted to do more tracks that the record company originally asked for. Most places the 2disc version sells and charts as the fame, even in the US, but the separate disc is available there but is referred to as an EP (though appears on the album chart, as EPs do here- see Keane "Night Train EP" as a recent example). Looking forward to this, and she's on The Monster tour forever so really doesn't have the time to fully promote a new album yet so maybe later is better. Dance in the Dark 1st please!
  5. That all seemed a bit.. vague. They looked a bit awkward too. So again where is Amelle off to in this interview and do they even definitely have a deal for this album with Island? Clearly its early days and they'll be holding back but still
  6. Id say top10, think it'll struggle to make top 5 but hopefully will break the top 10. Rather limp campaign, their on their last legs, they need this to work
  7. Ok then, my bad though I stand by my comments. Have u heard the other version? Also, it's funny to think in what sense its the "original" version when its not the first version released/heard by anyone.
  8. Wow it's been a while! THIS. SO MUCH! AND THIS! Don't do another campaign this year girls. Take some proper time and come back next year. Preferably with a new name (after the legal challenge is ruled in favour of Mutya and 1.0). They'll never be huge and unique the way the babes were before though
  9. Don't like it as much as the original. It just sounds like a remix EP type remix, rather than a single worthy one. It does make it more radio friendly i suppose though, the ballad version is quite minimal and has no beat so i could see radio steering clear though i think the beauty of it may shine through and it'd do better if people got on board with it. Whats the deal with this being released anyway? I thought the deal with Body Talk was one single only for each of the three parts with Part 2 due in September. Is the remix considered a new track to launch part 2 or is it being delayed in favour of promoting part 1 more?
  10. Bleeding love was quoted as being on 984k by music week and couple of months ago (when BEP I gotta feeling crossed the mil line), and is apparently selling a few hundred per week still- not enough to be top200 but still in itunes top1000. Quite possibly it will get some XF exposure by contestants or indirectly by leona performing ;-) Hopefully get an update on the nearly mil club with the sex on fire confirmation

Does commercial radio do total sales of itunes aggregated across the week now as their chart show? I'm sure they give the top10 at the start weirdly. Should give some clues to the official result later (although other downloads and physicals will effect)
  12. Ps i have Body Language opening on 43k and Fever on 139k in the UK :)
  13. X opened on around 80k and while some fans moan about 2 hearts being a bad lead, underperforming etc. X built up a huge head of steam before release, her PR was absolutely saturated coming off of her cancer recovery, royal variety, OBE, Dr Who and everything else at the time and it still "only" managed that. Given the general decline in album sales and the fact its july and not one of the biggest (pre xmas) sales weeks of the year i'm going to say 60-79k. I think that'd be an excellent start all things considered. ATL is surely going to outsell in the singles any X stuff and single sales are so much higher now. ATL for #2 and Aphro for #1 please!

Oasis managed 134 one year and 129 an adjacent year in the 90s thanks to a series of rereleases during morning glory madness. Rihanna managed 129 in 2008 and was probably top woman until gaga managed 156 (inc featuring credits) last year. She's also on 83 so far this year so could potentially equal or better this if she launches a new single and album before the end of year. Glee quite possibly will beat this though it so seems like cheating. I'm sure 80s madge must have done a fair whack too, though it was much harder when your physical could be deleted in favour of a new song- 3+ months was a huge run back then
  15. interesting to note from this article that Pokerface and SoF can only have sold around 15k physicals each. I suppose if they were stocked a bit longer that may be slightly better as most physicals (except underperforming ones which lie for weeks) are gone after a couple of weeks now in the shops i find. Really shows they are a niche item now though. Glad they're still around though and they do make the difference for some artists escpecially those with a strong core fanbase or established many years

This is one thing that makes me sad as its such a summer song. Though thematically, the way it is suits it better. The video is so much more than i had any right to expect ages ago when i thought Alejandro would be a good single. But she's set the bar now; all her videos need to be epic now. Agreed! I like it but not exactly revolutionary. It all has the feel of someone who was trying too hard. That's the general feel of the whole affair. She wants to do electro but make sure everything's different so she can't be accused of copying GaGa. Thing is, its a fallacy, and if she'd stop worrying so much about that and allow a little crossover when it felt right the album would be better. Havent really made my mind up about it yet. Sometimes i think its a mess, others that its quite interesting and varied, though she's sort of regressed in a "Catfights and Spotlights" to "Sweet 7" way, since "Back to Basics". Hopeful GaGa can pleasantly surprise and pull #1 out the bag again the way telephone did but i'm thinking top5 at the moment (top3 when optimistic)
  17. Enya is good for this game. Usually only has 1 single or none. Last 2 albums "and winter came" and "very best of" didn't have any I don't think. Kate Bush's "aerial" only had 1 too I think. Quite a lot of GH only get one but not sure that counts in this game
  18. these sales and runs really need an update. The info is generally still around for all her stuff at the moment, if someone could kindly oblige :)

maybe jay or ryry could give more info in its sales and positions as for singles. I would like to know what it's doing/selling
  20. 23/11/09 for TF:M rings a bell. MW commented that TF (v1) was only making up about 5% of copies a couple of months ago, but this rocketed to 50% after discounting of the original. Do you have any way of separating the sales VC? I presume TF is over the mil as it'd had done 800k before monster, though prob not by much. Monster must be close itself though. 2 mil selling albums is still impressive. I wonder if she is in fact doing herself out of sales. Would loads of people just bought both separately and counted 2 sales, or is the incentive of the 2CD actually driving people to buy it as better value? Or are all the monster sales here people who already owned the fame anyway (like me)
  21. totally this. Though i do still love 3 Phil :P Sweet 7 is bottom for me on account of not being a Sugababes album. Very inconsistent.
  22. ah wasnt sure about that, there was a lot of chat about how the release would go in America. So when i see the fame is higher in the chart than monster every week oddly, its because the 2CD edition and original fame are having their sales combined, but other (fewer) people are still plumping for the 1 disc monster? Makes more sense now -_-
  23. The pink one is very stupid. One new song but removing the 2 original bonus tracks? Crap! At least gaga did a whole new album worth of content which she could have charged much the same price for anyway. In america the rules are still different and monster charts separately (its sometimes called an ep) I think that's why a lot of people call it her second album (its her home country/biggest market after all) but essentially its fame 1.5
  24. The whole point of them IS to drive sales though so the tactic is working as far as the industry is concerned - there's no motivation for them to change it back. I'm someone who likes to buy deluxes (but only if its worth it) and I'm not really a cherrypicker. What does annoy me is itunes exclusive tracks (or similar). Its unfair I should be dictated to in where to buy an album and what price to pay. I mean, tracks exclusive to the physical are ok by me as you can still shop around on price for that. Making them album only on download pisses me off and that's mostly an itunes practice, other sites allow cherrypicking more. I'm still mad about kylies magnetic electric! I bought the bloody deluxe edition of X why the hell shouldn't I get all the songs! In terms of the old rules, I think you were only allowed up to 20% new content in addition to the original album in its entirety. This usually meant up to 3 new tracks, a la rihanna's gggb reloaded (although the rules had changed by then). Alternatively the only album sales were really an issue for still around the time of rule change was amy winehouse's back to black and deluxe which had a second cd of 7-8 tracks and due to being released pre change, still charted each separately. However occ combined sales eventually as it was still very active after this, and in terms of top decade sellers it was off the list otherwise. However is that fair? Were most deluxe buys new to the albums or merely upgrades of the original? So is this representative or falsely inflating sales? The other point record companies were making was the old rules were restrictive as they didn't allow more inventive extra content like dvds. Leona is a good example of this. She only added 3 tracks to her album so would have still been ok in the old system but couldn't have put a dvd with it. Is that better or worse value now then? Ok rant over, interesting debate! Answers on a postcard please...
