i like your thinking :P

Poll - Predict : Sugababes - About A Girl
sorry was just joking! You love GA (only produced by Xenomania), Mini Viva (created by Xenomania?), Lady Gaga (largely produced by Red One), so i just figured your favourite babes song would be their Red One/Xenomania efforts - which it turns out to be the case. No offence intended :P

Poll - Predict : Sugababes - About A Girl
trust you to think this, their 1st red one single, is their best single since the last Xenomania one they released :P Odds are definitely on Leona either way, but i hope they at least give her a good run for her money :)

Poll - Predict : Sugababes - About A Girl
#2, simply on the strength of the song, there's not much else going for it, hopefully the record shines through on its own. Seems to be getting a fair bit of airplay i'd say anecdotally. Its less Marmite than GS so should really do better overall (sales) though may not outpeak it. I really wonder if it could've challenged Leona if she wasn't on XF that week. I'm beginning to think people are cooling on her, and Happy isn't very good. Don't get me wrong, she's still huge but the babes have been in their day too. Its the best single they've had in 2 years at least anyway :o

OZAP article: Digital single crushes the physical single
Great figures, thanks for posting. Slightly confusing in places with the translation! Physiclas have slumped even this year quite badly. I wonder if this is their nadir, or whether companies will do away with them entirely. More and more releases even from big acts are becoming digital only. I'm a dinosaur, I still love my CDS, I think there's still a small loyal market worth exploiting personally :-)

Listen to ‘Low’
sounds voice and style wise like angels era to me probs. Really very good though (bit like some of the 3 era b-sides, surprisingly their best era for those i'd sale though OT runs it close) Thanks for this, love to hear new Mutya/Keisha stuff even at this point  for all you hear of the other girl it could be siobhan really

Albums
prob shoulda mentioned, Overloaded fell out top200 last week, still £3-5 in Asda Sainsburys, HMV and probs online too though, so i imagine its still selling quite well just outside (and still in genre chart). Hopefully get a sales update with sweet 7 (despite it mostly being the wrong band "moan moan" etc...)

'About A Girl' 2.0
Cover is exactly as expected, not really different from GS: Sexy dance moves plus the new era font. Nice enough though. Video is quite good, though the cuts make it rather obvious they were there at different times than the "movie" people, i would have expected that to be slicker from similar videos in the past. Reminds me of Charlie's Angels :D whatever the back story, i don't think we're expected to believe our Kung Fu ladies are the babes, the story is separate. Its like they are doing a movie soundtrack song, where there's clips of the movie in the back and the bits with the band in are always themed to the movie if you know what i mean? Vocally i still prefer Keisha's it had more emotion (dont shoot me). I'd love a link to an mp3 if anyone could kindly oblige (and any other leaked Keisha Sweet 7 tracks since they won't see the light of day now). Thanks anyone who can oblige :)

Official press release
I love how they "started the decade" with FLM. Eh, no that was 2002, and actually they started the decade with their 1st single "overload" in 2000? Oh yeh but we've erased that coz A- it wasn't Island and B- no one is left that actually remembers it  and they argued over the red one bit? i bet. Keisha won the battle, but Amelle won the war on it, it seems... Stupid stuck up PR bull$h!t (ie. just the usual from any in house PR) "Sugababes cure cancer" etc) Rant over!

Airplay
so AYN fell out last week and re-entered this week at 87. week 101! (85-OUT-87) Get Sexy has moved 26-33-64 to this week (from 12 the week b4). It on the way out now, didnt think it'd have much staying power and esp not now Keisha has left. Nice of AAG entered soon though

Amelle cries over hate mail.
agree Jark. I know its not all their fault surely i just dont feel a connection with them like before and i have nothing on Jade (yet anyway)

The Almost Saturday Charts w/k ending 9th Oct 2009
quite confused by this statement Dave - Was alexandra the lowest physical #1 ever with that figure? And was it Saturdays Just can't get enough or Sugababes Get Sexy which shifted 11,087 at #1? thanks. think we'd all be keen to to know physical sales figures and to what extent they affect things now, particularly at the higher reaches

The replacement of Jark
welcome mylan, can't think of a better choice. Incidentally, how are mods decided? I mean its nice if you all know one another or whatever but it doesn't seem very democratic.... Jark you will be missed, sad you're going but i look forward to your solo album :heehee: :kink:

Airplay

'About A Girl' 2.0
Prefer the Keisha version but reserve the right to change my mind later on repeated listens! Trying to be as objective as possible. Keisha has a more distinctive voice, and the thing with all the babes is they all sounded unique in their voices and complimented each other. I find Jade generic: a Leona clone was my 1st thought on seeing her Eurovision promo. She has a strong voice though. Don't really notice the difference on the RedOne bit surprisingly but Keisha's chorus had more soul i felt if not quite so smooth. Can someone PM AAG 1.0 or a link for mp3 please? Since i'll never get a real copy now :( thanks!

Happy Birthday Keisha!
Happy birthday Keisha, the only way is up from here it'll get better every day and you've grown up so much, you're ready to be an amazing solo star! :D

Mutya on GMTV || Possible 1.0 reunion????
So excited about that idea! I'd get my Second Touch! (sounded weirdly dirty :o )

Mutya on GMTV || Possible 1.0 reunion????
Aw Mutya! I love that she has enough distance from the whole thing to say what everyone else is thinking, and she is one of few qualified to actually do it. A 1.0 reformation is a total pipedream but what a one it is. Been Listening to One Touch Round (and) Round (lol) the last couple of days. Its like a Remedy from all this $h!t news. However, Keish and Mut could collab, or even Mut and Siobhan? Was that Fallin single due out ages ago? The version i remember kicking around was even worse than that one tbf, it sounds slightly less 90s garage than before at least, but it still sounds more dated than one touch. Her own Stuff better be more "Song4Mutya" than this turd :(

Who would you like to see as the third Sugababe? ∙
Calvin Harris! I was all up for him doing the op like he promised! One of the Spice Girls would be really fun too! They could call their first hit (or change the band name to, now we know its Keisha leaving) Suga and Spice! btw this poll should prob be changed now its Keisha and not Amelle leaving? and ffs add Siobhan as a choice she has more right to be there than Jade and VV surely!

Keisha Buchanan's message
I like her message. It shows she has grace. I think that's very magnanimous of her, we know she's a girl who doesn't like to mince her words after all! I predict she takes a day and a half off for jet lag and a cry then gets straight into the studio. Now that's a work ethic!

Keisha's Solo Album
I see more of a Mutya pattern than a Siobhan one to her solo career. But i think she may have a chance to experience more longevity than Mutya. It'll be touch and go though (Mutya really should have worked the best). Critically she'll be lucky to touch Siobhan's material

Keisha FIRED
I checked this earlier about half 3, and when there was nothing i assumed we weren't getting anything today. I cannot believe there has been 13 pages on this in 12 hours. I thought 7 pages in 2 days a few days ago was nuts! I was really taken aback, the Keisha fired seemed to make the whole thing seem like a ridiculous rumour when the first few rumours filtered through. The fact that it was true beggars belief. It has already been said ad nauseum the original member argument so i won't say any more. Amelle and Heidi have both been babes longer than Siobhan ever was and they are 2/3 the same still, as we've had with all the other changes so you could argue this change is no less dramatic. Keisha has never been my favourite babe. When they started i liked their music but didn't know much about the individual members, though i remember Siobhan stood out. When Heidi joined she became my favourite and has been until the last year or so, when i've just loved the band as a whole really. Its so mad, this line up always seemed stable compared to the previous ones and its been 4 years without signs of cracks. The US deal seems to have been the catalyst (or Amelle's one shot solo bit but surely one guest vocal wouldn't cause such a massive bust up). I always felt that was the problem with Catfights; they were all so relaxed and comfortable (with each other), there was no fire and tension in the band which may have been responsible for their "edge" in the past. Great album though, but there was something missing (hence the relative flop). It does seem majorly awful the way proceedings have been conducted. I mean, if they knew and let Keisha go on record in NOTW on Sun to smooth things over on behalf of the band while they auditioned replacements? Thats cold, though it was telling only Keisha was in that interview. This hit me harder than i expected, its only pop music after all! I don't know how i feel about supporting them now and i own every single and album they have ever produced (some in duplicate and triplicate) so its fair to say i've been a keen fan for a very long time. I'm trying to just remind myself its still Heidi and Amelle but i don't feel the same connection with them right now. It feels like they've let Keisha down, though in all fairness she may have made her bed, so to speak. My impressions of Jade from previous interviews and performances is nice girl, but she didn't make much of an impression. On hearing her sing i thought she has a great voice, but was still really an inferior Leona clone; its all we're churning out since she went global. How she'll fit into a 3 piece, and if she's a good fit for Keisha's vocal in the short term i'm not sure. They can obviously develop their own sound and dynamic moving on, but they have a sizeable back catalogue which Jade will need to nail - you can just ignore 6 #1's in concert ffs! Stunning choice of clip on Popjustice too, i'm surprised they found it. My favourite live acoustic of theirs ever!! Hope everyone is doing ok with it, commiserate here it'll make you feel better and we'll all get through it together! I so know how you feel Jark. Are you stepping down as moderator? I don't think there should be any decisions until the dust settles personally, but maybe no major mod-edits for a few days either as emotions are running high This is an interesting point. The US really don't know the babes so 4.0 has the perfect chance to start fresh, giving them all the more reason to neglect us in the UK. Or give us extra support to ensure they don't lose their following? A fan in the hand is worth two in the bush and all that
