Blu-ray sales SUCK! They're down on last year, and thats without even having HD-DVD to compete with anymore! :lol: I honestly remember more buzz about MiniDisc when that came out, and look the way that went (and Blu-Ray has supermarket support ffs) Games industry is bigger than Music industry now though, and is either about to or just has overtaken film (hollywood) industry. Sure physical music will continue just fine in the medium term, but shorter term things could take a hit. Sure Xmas sales would be higher by a fair proportion without these stock probs. I have had difficulty getting a number of CDs across multiple retailers this Xmas, The only consistently well stocked shop is HMV, and they've generally put all their prices up probably coz they know we're stuck with them this time of year. Really though, same CDs are £2-3 more expensive than last month. Hardly encouraging the spend/fiscal stimulus the government wants for the economy is it HMV?! :angry:

Aren't the two B2B's combined in that figure? Seems very high especially considering this list may be a few months old. Anyone know when its sales are accurate to? thanks for posting, very interesting especially to see how much these old albums sell each year now they are long gone from the charts

Think it was 571k (from memory). It has sold about 900k so far but not reached 1m i believe- Bleeding Love has outsold it (no other talent show winner has outsold their debut release i believe :)) true! His 1st week sales were 740k (again from memory don't moan if thats not exact) The XF Hero song was available everywhere- even Woolworths stocked it, and Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco etc, places that don't stock any singles at all normally so i'm sure hers will be available everywhere possible as Cowell will want this and shops know its an easy fast buck. I think she will do over 450k this week easily. Could even do more, but Shayne is probably safe (and Will Young def is 1.11m in 1st week and thats b4 downloads counted!) On the note of fastest selling download, Leona is supposed to have sold 50k in 30mins following XF 2006, setting the world record, so Alexandra would really have needed to have done over 50k of her 1st day 85k in half an hour. Sounds unlikely but all the preorders instantly released at midnight may have done it

it did indeed which confused me as the no75 album sales were below 10k (as correctly quoted by SilverRocket) so i figure they were including compilations in this figure (although they appear on different charts, MW often quote total album sales for the week including the compilation market, and usually mention what the top selling compilation each week is)

I'll be D/L all versions from the 22nd and buying my CD on the 29th, this could still chart ok if it gets a boost over the next couple of weeks. *crosses fingers*

lol i know someone who had them play at their wedding! :rofl: Scotland doesn't and NI definitely doesn't have enough people who care to have got him this far alone. Maybe the proportion is higher, but sure more English voted simply due to the fact the population is 10-30x that of the other UK countries (depending which one). It would be mad to suggest the only people who'd vote for you are those from your home nation- i'd like to think most people are a little more openminded! Do you have figures on the number of votes from each nation? I still don't like Eoghan though. Sorry, this whole discussion is :offtopic: i'll can it now :)

just to clarify, it wasn't the names i was referring to- it was the fact the posts suggested everyone in Scotland/NI was a tonedeaf moron. Making that comment (ok i assume a joke) against a group based solely on Nationality seems racist to me. i'm sure it was tonedeaf morons who voted for him- i just think they were from all over the UK! :rofl: (and don't include the entire population) Anyhoo, album up 8 to 83 this week. A climb at least, prob sold 6-7k at least

well despite top100 placing on itunes not top100 in official chart this week. was 170 last week so assume has moved up some at least

Welcome to the Forum! Spot on comments, there is a lot of similar feeling as you will see reading the threads A little naive to assume only Scottish people would vote for a scottish person? Firstly it makes up less than 10% of the UK population so its votes would hardly win it for him, and also most people are sufficiently unbiased to be able to vote for someone outwith their own nationality, though it sounds like you may not be if you presume otherwise

totally. But that's the policy across the board now isn't it! I mean, how many singles out in the last 3 months have you seen which have got 2CDs? Even this time last year it was pretty common. Even Oasis who are huge physical sellers only have 1CD now, and GA are the same and they always had 2CDs before from what i remember. Sure Oasis could have scrapped top10 with a 2nd CD- their fans are hardcore and most would've bought both (though the sales gap between 10 and 12 last week was weirdly large)

Quite a few share your opinion- though not all. This is certainly the most stringent view. So many of the acts on the consecutive list are from the 80s and 90s because of the way the singles market was geared then- the record is probably less important now. I too have commented that had certain songs make the top10, fans would of course count them, but i think a decision should be made to count them based on defined criteria, one of which should not be the success of the record in question. Anything which charts on the singles chart is one way of doing this, though do you take that to be only top75 or do you look at 100/200? (top75 is official but this actually means a flop peaking at no76 could work to a band's advantage in that it wouldn't break a run). And you're right about journalists! :rofl:
