  1. Even then i'd be raging with a Sugas album. They usually get 40ish weeks top75 consistently which is so unusual for a band nowadays. Remember last March when Denial came out and Change jumped 70-35? *goes all nostalgic*
  2. there's still time for this. Not all songs enter 2 months in advance of release (look at Britney's Circus this week ffs!), with airplay spiking this week exposure will improve and more people will download or buy when there's an actual single available rather than hunting for an album track on an album which (according to Heidi) no one even knows is out! Outwith that though, this is the danger of changing your sound! They wouldn't be having this problem with the ever growing electropop sound...
  3. I'm sticking my neck out and saying no1. The Promise's sales were unprecedented so it seems they're winning a lot of new fans and this is at least as good. The video is nice and very stylish, but it's quite derivative and doesn't add much to the song, in fact it seems to make it more repetitive somehow! January sales are traditionally quiet though, and hardly anything else is even released that week, so unless XF winner holds on, GA will be no1 :) Only other threat is their high album sales thus far, many people may already have the song on OOC and not bother. Do a B-side/radio mix please Girls! Edit: Ok, part of the reason it seemed more repetitive is apparently there is a single/video mix which is a little dancier. A little less keen on that, and is Nic singing a bit in the middle Nadine was doing before btw? Also, we are getting a B-side called "Japan"? Well done Girls, my hitlist is satisfied i will happily buy away now
  4. Singles Will Young - Grace (someone buy this, can't believe how much lower it'll go in than his previous stuff mine was a gift so even buy it for someone else ffs!) Albums Britney - Circus (Deluxe) Robyn - Robyn (Deluxe) (lucky i even knew about this- you'd think there might have been some promotion, had no idea "dream on" was launching a deluxe album thought it was just standalone originally, esp. as Robyn isn't even the main credit) Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul Downloads None so far

sales as up to date as we have them are listed in the pinned thread in the sugababes forum (as most artists have in their forum). I suggest you look there for future updates. Perhaps a mod could close this thread in the mean time? PS it's still top40 so sales will still rise

thanks for the clarification matt, this is what i was saying (bold). I'm not sure about the savvy thing, but i read the initials thing in a (not very reputable) paper. Who has a name beginning with Z though?!

Sure it is affecting sales, and the WHS situation as well. My town doesn't have HMV or Zavvi, only Woolies and WHS so not great right now. Our nearest out of town shopping park has Zavvi but no HMV. Btw, Virgin did not go bust. Richard Branson, its founder sold out his majority share to the board, but as they didn't buy the Virgin brand (Virgin still does other products), they had to rename the stores Zavvi. I believe it's the initials of the remaining board members or something...
  8. Really? Thanks for the info. I think she'll get over 50k at least with this one. Also meant to mention above, think Killers will tail off sharply this week, whether its enough for Brit to slip ahead remains to be seen. GnR will have a similar drop, but maybe slightly less steep, although their sales were lower to begin with. I think she will see top5 ok, and the no2 slot is not completely out the question. Also, i think it's highly unlikely she'll miss the top10! Anyone else got any thoughts before the mids roll in tomorrow and we all cheat?
  9. I think she will safely top Blackout's 1st week sales (even though i don't remember exactly what they were, 30k-ish?), though may not match its #2 entry/peak position depending on what the rest of last week's top10 are doing. Leona has increased sales from release week, and with Run now being available with heavy advertising and a video, this trend could continue (she did over 80k last week)
  10. Ok, i was in loads of stores today and here's the situation in my area: Asda- have TT and Brit for £5.88 and £9.50 respectively. Morrisons- TT at £6.99 and Britney at £9.56 Sainsburys- Both at £9.79 Woolworths- Checked 2 stores which had no stock of either album (and looked decidedly bare otherwise, also their £5 offers from last week (if you could even get one in stock) have ended meaning their prices aren't great) WHSmith- 1 store had loads of TT but no mention or copies or Brit at all. Other store i checked had none of either Zavvi- Had no mention or copies of either, or any new releases. All seems to be last week's stuff, though shelves very full and well stocked (surprising if the reason they don't have Brit and TT is stock issues, though by the looks EUK's other customers managed!) HMV- Had both albums available, TT for £6.99 and Brit for £9.99. Also, it is the only shop i saw either of the deluxe editions in. Brit's was £14.99, and think TT's was the same, though there was only a single row of each deluxe among the masses of standards in my HMV. Note: Many of the above stores prices were in fact lower as the 2.5% VAT reduction was being applied at the tills. Conclusion: Some stock problems for both, but TT's album is generally more available (seems to be the general feel from others' posts on here too), and always cheaper, often significantly. Obviously not expecting big Brit sales as price is so high in comparison! Take That were always going to outsell her, but these factors will lengthen their lead for sure. I don't think the overall sales will be 14:1 TT:Brit though. Ps- the 13 track edition of Brit's Circus is available for £5 on 7Digital! Cheapest i've seen it! (14 track including Rock Me In is £7.99 i think, though why not just get the 13 track edition and buy that track for 79p?)
  11. thats a shame! not even a fair fight for poor Brit even if she wasn't winning it!
  12. Indeed! It seems clear the babes are willing to work hard this era as always, look at all the live perfomances and public appearances but but what are the record company doing in the background? Seems p*** poor to me, but this seems to be a theme with Island label artists at the moment, certainly a common grumble on the forums

i would've done the same. Took an album back before as the case had a big crack and the disc holder was broken. Tesco didn't seem to think this was a problem so i just said the CD didn't play either to get a new one with no hassle. and i like a nice booklet- its what you buy physicals for ffs!
  15. Hey guys, what's this about? is it re: my comments above or the song?

I agree. I think Nicole is looked upon as the hot commodity, and i suspect she is paid far more! It wasn't 'til i saw IHTP video i realised the others don't sing a single line in this song. I think that is appalling, how can it be released as a band, it should just have her name on, but the PCD brand obviously sells better (look at her solo efforts), which is why she is back IMHO

I know, this is shocking. So there's no video? Her radio airplay has been decent but i'm sure her hits usually peak higher on airplay. And with tour, guessing there's no promotion. It's so clear she is leaving this company. Bought my physical today, really like the cover, but as there's only 1 CD format (like the 1st time ever for Madonna possibly? At least in a long time i think) i don't think she can rely on her normal heavy fanbase physical sales to save her. It's a good song, but sounds like it should have been on American Life, not hard candy (not v. urban is it), which dates it a bit. Could be her lowest charting hit to date. Glad now 71 is helping keep Sugababes sales up, though where is the normal version of girls currently?
  18. cool! very retro! take it all their old stuff can be downloaded? sure there's an xmas song on my old 2 become 1 single... i've been thinking of buying Ballads too! I also have her GH, are there any songs on ballads i won't already have? Every now and then i see #1's in a sale and think of buying that too. Damn old record company cash-in's! She's getting as bad as Kylie's old record companies!
  19. What is this Spice Girls track? A new one? Exactly. This kind of argument is why a huge chunk of the country don't vote- of course it makes a difference! Singles - went a bit mad this week Katy Perry- HnC Britney Leona Christian Falk ft. Robyn (Wez Clarke edit is great) PCD- IHTP Madonna- Miles Away (Loving the Thin White Duke remix) Albums Probably: Xtina Enrique (if i see them for a decent price) few others i've been considering for last couple of weeks but will probably wait 'til xmas as not desperate for any, or until the price of CDs comes down in shops again- they are all back to being £9-10 rather than £7-8, damn Xmas! Downloads None
  20. My list so far: Shola Ama, The Pirates etc. They are listing the song as "readily you should know" not "you should really know" as it is actually called! Sugababes denial wasn't download only Madonna's info is also all f***ed up. They haven't displayed Holiday and Borderline with their original releases, rather as separate entries which is wrong as they were re-entries (not official re-issues, which the virgin book confusingly lists without telling you they are re-issues anyway, so it just looks like the same song listed twice). This also makes her run look like 35 consecutive top tens rather than the correct 34. Talking of Madonna, the no. of weeks at No1 is missing for Sorry. It is also missing for Obviously by McFly, Stickwitu by PCD, The Importance of Being Idle by Oasis, and Everytime by Britney Spears. Sure there will be more. For Mika's Grace Kelly, it's just plain wrong. Lists 4 weeks rather than 5. Also, the Catalogue no. for no doubt's just a girl re-issue is wrong. Let's keep this up, and hopefully the book makers read threads like this from time-to-time!

You're right, it's poor marketing, and somehow gives the impression the shelves are quite empty and the store needs restocked which is not very encouraging. Also, the general store design and colour scheme, isn't very modern (despite its update in the last few years) and is not half as slick as HMV or Zavvi
  22. top 10 is plausible. A lot going on chart wise at the moment though, tough time of year so i hope they can make it :)
  23. v catchy, but the electronic voice, awful lyrics and phoned-in Snoop Dogg performance seriously let this down. Enough airplay should lead all the derivative sheep to purchase however, so i'm sure it won't be as disasterous as it maybe deserves to be. Release Halo ffs! *prepares petition*

    1. When I Grow Up 2. I Hate This Part (Cynical ballad at Xmas ploy should help this too) 3. Halo 4. Who's Gonna Love You/Hush Hush/Magic/Happily Never After/Out of This Club 5. One of the above Don't think a 5th will be released, getting more unusual now, may not even be a 4th. Choice for 4th is difficult. All are decent songs, but some i like better on that list or think are better songs, may not perform so well commercially as singles (e.g. Out of This Club is pretty insipid but anyone who thought Love in this Club by Usher was a masterpiece is bound to buy it since it's basically part II). Have a nasty feeling the record label may want Whatcha think about that as it seems to get big position on the album and they've went to the bother of getting guest star and all that but it's pretty horrible. Hopefully they've done market research or whatever and canned it as a single option! Update; ok, i'm caught up on my Wiki reading. Whatcha think about that was released in US and flopped massively so was canned as the next international release apparently, and interest was starting to build in IHTP anyway. So i guess that's their market research! not surprised at this at all, it should never have been released, a mistake i fear they will repeat with Bottle Pop (though probably a little less catastrophic)

I think this album is a case of quantity over quality. I mean, a lot of it is okay, some is quite good, and there are probably around 5 songs that are really good. Rather than the 18 track monstrosity it is, they should have given us 10-12 tracks of good quality. Maybe it's down to opinion though. I dont really like the show tuney ones like In Person and Perhaps, Perhaps but for some people they are probably the best bit. WIGU is great fun, and i like some of the production, but it isn't as good as a number of the hits on PCD unfortunately. IHTP is good, but please tell me Bottle Pop is not the 3rd single. Catchy, but AWFUL lyrically/musically! Halo, is far superior and should be the next single IMHO
