Girls Aloud • The Loving Kind
totally. It could be another no1 if the strong album sales don't hurt it. As long as they pick their week really carefully like they did with The Promise!

Albums
So over 50% of copies are still gathering dust in storerooms? Awful. Everything sells at Xmas though, even if they get to no40 they'll prob still selling about a gazillion copies :) (i can but hope)

Where will Leona Lewis - "Run" chart?
Totally a shrewd business move, but i see why ppl are pissed off. You know what though? Get used to it. As a loyal fan who adopts any artist album early, you can now almost guarantee a deluxe edition if it experiences any modicum of success, leaving you forced to buy it for 3 new songs or miss out. CDs are so much cheaper in real terms than b4, and seeing as this leads to drops in profits per unit the record companies are getting us to rebuy a half arsed update rather than invest the money in a brand new project so there is more cream for them. The further irony is that deluxe versions cost more (around the price of an album in the 90s ironically), so for so little new content we pay even more! They have us by the balls, coz the alternative is to miss the new material "Johnny apathy come lately" gets as standard.... However, this won't hurt Leona's Longterm sales, and i think in long run this won't shoot them in the foot. Ppl still like Leona herself so will still buy her subsequent material, and if run is as massive nationally as with the somewhat skewed views we share on here it'll still make no1. She does have star power. Impressed at the Irish itunes news, but i still don't think 1 performance alone gets a song to no1, now or in 2 weeks, even for Leona

iTunes Chart // November II
Cheers :) Thankyou! Yes, the chart is not the law according to buzzjack. We do have a high proportion of diva lovers here- boys wouldn't get a look in if the only ppl purchasing singles were on here! No, they don't care IMHO. no1 doesn't buy them sportscars. Profits do. I think this is a shrewd piece of marketing, but i can totally understand why this enrages fans. As someone said though, it worked a treat for Rihanna. When Disturbia was made NPR, i decided just to buy the album as they dropped it to £4, and i wasn't much bothered about the other 2 songs but thought it was worth it for £4. I may end up buying Spirit Deluxe cheap sometime but i'm not rushing to buy Spirit or d/l Run. If anything it's Forgive Me that's growing on me, but not being a huge fan i only heard it a couple of weeks ago. Totally, this is turning into the Run Download discussion thread. It should get it's own where we could talk about its appearance on any d/l service and not just itunes and when it will add to each? I think 1 update in the last 24h yet somehow 5 pages have been added to this thread. Ok, you all want run it doesn't need repeated ad nauseum! talk about it in Leona's forum ffs! Lets talk about songs ON the itunes top100 on the iTunes thread 'kay? Yes it is, and you forgot overwrought  Wow, that was a lot to answer! Don't see Rihanna being no1 next week, she is tailing off on here. It could actually still be XF but the physicals are out for Rihanna and Killers aren't they so there is a chance for them (was Beyonce physical last week or this week btw? She is still really strong)

iTunes Chart // November II

Girls [iTunes thread]
Up to #31, was a high as #27 over weekend i think. Prob CiN and Boots? Glad, hopefully we will see a wee climb next week, it's doing not too bad a run :)

Albums
Really thought this would stabilise. Its prominent in shops and they are a well known band who are doing enough general/promo work right now, Girls is still doing quite well, so you assume there's a general background amount they'd sell even with no single releases, yet the album continues to plummet. At this rate 2 more top 75 weeks could be all we get until NCD is out. Hope it can level off but #52 is atrocious, wonder what it sold this week? Didn't we guess about 9k last week? can't remember

Yeah up on iTunes- Boots and CIN?

Catfights And Spotlights [6th Album Discussion]
Sadly, i agree it could be going bargain bin soon. Don't think island will be keen but retailers may get desperate. Don't expect that would happen til after Xmas e.g. like GA's TU has been £5 everywhere since Feb this year, but it's really helped sales. By the time Change was dropped to £5, it hasn't made much difference. Slightly off topic Jez, but noticed Oasis have taken a fair wee tumble this week, what's going on there? They usually have huge album runs and the new single's been getting some airplay, think it will fall short?

No Can Do [Single Thread]
its sweet how they plugged the album after saying they've proved themselves and don't care how it does! it's nice they're in a position to make the music they want. C&S is really good, i just hope the rest of the universe realises soon!

iTunes Chart // November II
Why not eligible? I sure it will be allowed to chart

iTunes Chart // November II
It's the general overexcitement of most ppl on this thread i was trying to convey not a quotation, and it wasn't directed at you. Actually, i think run may do very well, just not this week- with or without sunday downloads- probably when it is confirmed as a single and gets all the promo airplay and formats which come along with that. Obviously time will tell!

Tangled Up vs Out Of Control
Call The Shots vs The Promise Close To Love vs The Loving Kind Sexy No No No vs Rolling Back The Rivers In Time Girl Overboard vs Love Is The Key Can't Speak French vs Turn To Stone Black Jacks vs Untouchable Control Of The Knife vs Fix Me Up Fling vs Love Is Pain What You Crying For vs Miss You Bow Wow I’m Falling vs Revolution In The Head Damn vs Live In The Country Crocodile Tears vs We Wanna Party Out Of Control: 4 Tangled Up: 8 Surprised myself doing this. TU is so strong as an album as a whole, i doubted OOC would dent it even though it has some good songs, but the way it lines up it def. beats a few TU tracks. TU still better though OOC more variation!

Girls Aloud • The Loving Kind
Agree entirely. It is CTS II and is weaker, but a little gentler which is nice. It will be good time of year for a ballad and is the best choice for single 2. :)

Where will Leona Lewis - "Run" chart?
There is hysteria surrounding this song which i find ridiculous. It's just a cover ppl! Very competently sung (her performance was good), but with forgive me just out and no real airplay or promotion yet 1 performance is not going to land it at no1. If This is earmarked as a single and gets proper radio support and a physical, i'd revisit it, but while it will prob chart next week on cherrypicks, it will more sell the album and i don't see it going top10 this sun. And it won't be coz ppl weren't able to d/l it til tomorrow, that really isn't going to have made a very big difference

iTunes Chart // November II
I think ppl need to take a chill pill about Run. Leona has a lot of fans on here, but it was one performance (albeit good) of a song people already know from Snow Patrol, it's not getting airplay and forgive me is still kicking around so i don't see it going mad. Sure lots of people will just buy spirit deluxe or equally will cherrypick the other tracks from it not just run (though it may do the best of them). The "OMG LEONAS MANAGEMENT NEED TO DIE IT WOULD BE NUMBA1 ON 24H OF SUNDAY DOWNLOADSA!!!!!" is deluded

omg. and i had to sit through the river city women singing Girls instead. As if the babes don't have Scottish fans!

Your Ideal Singles Order From Out Of Control
I agree with your studio order, and probably think it's for the best. I think some of the other songs on the album are better than Love is the Key, but it has a nice, fresh sound which i think radio will eat up. I don't get the obsession on here with Rolling Back the Rivers of Time being a single though, it's not very good  Turn to stone is brill but lyrically not enough going on, very repetitive. The Loving Kind is so the next single, and has a great sound for this time of year, think it'll chart well :)
-
Girls [Promo & Performances]
well its better that most of those $h!t EP remixes. I mean, not all remixes need to be 7 minutes long, and at least this is doing something different with the song, speeding it up a bit which makes sense for a dance remix (Dennis Christopher or whoever take note). Not my favourite way to hear it though, radio edit'll do me fine thanx!

Catfights And Spotlights [6th Album Discussion]
i know, can't have those positive comments cluttering up a fan forum, it'll be like we actually like the 'babes! I hope it climbs towards Xmas too and NCD is bound to result in SOME sort of rebound so sure you're right SM :)

Catfights And Spotlights [6th Album Discussion]
wtf with this album?! will it ever stabilise?! I know many people thought Girls wasn't the lead we all dreamed of but it did well in its own right and is higher in the singles than the bloody album is! I mean, its the Sugababes, just the stacks of the album on the focus shelving should sell it by now, it's their 7th album ffs. They obviously should have stuck with Xeno-Electropop rather than daring to be different. Hmph! Most fans love this album, shame if it only becomes "one for the fans" Noticed in one of the official emails it's already been certified Gold- means there must be a lot of copies of it hanging around in stock rooms and warehouses! The retailers obviously expected it to sell too...

Top 50 Albums of 2008
from the musicweek 14/07/08 report: "The album has sold 228,725 copies since its release 11 weeks ago, putting it a little ahead of the pace set by Madonna’s last studio album American Life, which had sold 216,541 copies at the same stage of its life in 2003 on its way to total sales of 335,115." Looks like Wiki was right for a change! Although musicweek aren't- her last studio album was confessions! American Life's been around for £5 in the recent Madonna promotions and also in some 2 for £10 deals quite prominently in the last few months so may have done a bit more by now.

Catfights And Spotlights [6th Album Discussion]
Stop saying that you're upsetting me!!! Nice review! We seem to like the same songs, just a couple of your scores are slightly higher. Great minds and all that!
