Thanks for the responses. I was referring to the Paloma Faith quandary if I didn't make that clear rather than Adele (slightly off topic). Still not certain how Adele will do with this. I'd think top10 at least, but not sure how massive until the movie lands. If that's a big hit too (with loads of people hearing the song) I see it going much bigger which is a distinct possibility

Or are people just preordering the main track? (Or is this not possible - album only or similar?) Odd if not, as this would usually make it an "EP" by itunes definition and it would chart on their albums list if I'm not mistaken?

I expect Rihanna to gain ground as the week goes on - hopefully pass them ;-p sure she will win the war anyway (ie. Total sales of their respective singles)

Yeah I'm not sure what's keeping it so buoyant but recently it seems to be going strength to strength when I really thought fathers day in June was its somewhat desperate last gasp. Great sales esp when Beady Eye's album is now totally forgotten ;-s Noels sold more than last oasis album which is a fairly confident mark of success! Over 100k x10 for the band is great thought as previous would love some total sales there OCC...

wonder if Frank has passed the million yet (Vidcapper any idea maybe?). As always, some more complete info on the above would have been nice :moira:

What a weird random list the OCC has chosen this time. And more of their sales (except post 96 ones) revised down. Thanks for the list for comparison Gezza a really good comparison of that effect actually. Total sales would have been better OCC...

Gezza can you elaborate on your "bless the OCC" incorrect sales comment? (e.g. who/what sales?). I know you "were at Woodstock" so to speak and are often knowledgeable on these matters! :P

This might be really obvious to everyone else but why On earth are Florence on course for a no1 this week?! Nothing else from the album has really set the chart alight. Is it all just because Calvin Harris has remixed it (and can do no wrong at the moment)?

Beatles recently overtook, but are still 3rd in the Virgin book. Think they'll stretch their lead tbh over 2nd and 3rd now they have their downloads. I was about to post a similar thread actually- we have lists of most chart weeks for songs and artists in singles and albums, we have biggest selling singles and singles artists lists (I may Rihanna fifth - bloody hell!), and we have biggest selling albums list but WHY NO BIGGEST SELLING ALBUM ARTISTS? Maybe its too hard to count or something but love to see it, does anyone have even an older one? The Virgin Album book doesn't do one and the next book is overdue with no sign ;-(

MW being a bit mischievious there giving no indication of change in the top2 albums. I'm thinking Cheryl might be gaining now but it'll be too close to call for Sunday i think. The £4.99 convinced one more buyer though - me. Not expecting it to be amazing but the single is decent and i'd possibly end of buying it anyway, but i suspect after this week it wouldn't be as cheap as £5 for 6-12 months again anyway so i've went for it. I wonder that a few people won't think similarly and pick it up now (most people have £5 in their disposable income these days - not much more than a cup of coffee and cheaper than a sandwich many places!) Maroon 5 doing well on the singles and their iTunes pop bar is still impressively large (Adam Levine has been telling people that for years :kink: ) think their sales will run close to Cheryl's last week

I think it may already be written and 113 is all we'll get. Shame because so many have finally passed in the last year or so. HAppy to be proved wrong though!

Cool! Who's publishing? Is it Virgin? Wish they'd update their chart books my album one is getting out of date and could do with a few more categories of info next time. If written in advance it may already be finalized for publishing and already be (technically) out of date. Wonder if it'll even have "official" sales

I think Cheryl's song isn't her best but it is competent dance-POP. Doesn't really go anywhere but the beat is very compulsive, moreish a la "We Found Love". It all made sense when found out Calvin produced it he's very good at that kind of thing. Could see the album doing 75k+ which is highly Respectable! Amy not far off no1 too would love to see her nip in if its a patch on the first couple- need to get out and buy my copy this week! She may also trail off less than Usher and surely less than Gary et al so will remain hopeful ;) If Adele did a shred of promotion or maybe even a single she could easily regain the top 10 I think she wilfully wants to fail now rather than be hated for her ubiquity (ok maybe a bit much), it wouldn't surprise me if she starts telling people not to buy it in interviews would suit her mentality! :lol:

Incidently she's 5th most weeks ever for an artist. She'll probably be 4th really soon too and become top women given how Madonna's current era is going

Interesting. I have her on 703 but Haiti Mon amour gives her one week credit but not the just stand up one as she's not separately credited (officially not separate on All of the Lights either weird though she is some places and clearly makes the largest contribution with Kanye)

What's the cut off for these sales? I'm sure we found love has sold more than only girl for example... Also good point and quite right about the shadows, the OCC aren't being consistent with their own rules. Can anyone have a go at any estimates beyond top 12?

nice to see this. interesting to compare the sale levels at different positions to other decades especially recent ones. havent paid attention to the difference between panel and over the counter sales but the lists looked similar to me - does it make much difference really?

I thought the last figure i saw (which may be a VC estimate) was over the 1.2mil anyway Some totals from the last Virgin Book (sales until end 2009/Q1 2010) - only posted those which are higher in there (as sales will only have increased since): - Pure & Simple 1,085,000 - (incidentally they "only" have band aid at 1,150,000 but prob even that version gets some xmas sales) - (Is This the Way To) Amarillo 1,215,000 - Unchained Melody (Gareth Gates) 1,340,000 Every little helps... :P
