i really hope so. I have no facility to estimate sales *cough vidcapper* *coughcough gezza* but we could at least list the known sales next to current charters/last known (e.g. from the end of 2009 list). really has to be attempted to update some of these oldies with trickle sales!

Really interesting to see what's most picked up in the background. Sales of hits such as celebration, miles away and gimme all your luvin which were small but mostly digital (and MW usually tell you how many CDs in the 1st week which would be almost all I'll wager these days) could give estimates of how much the rest sold. Unsurprisingly her digital era hits are top of the list I guess Wish they'd just give us a proper bloody sales list!

GaGa's the fame should be good, also GGGB by Rihanna or Kings of Leon only by the night (though that may go back too far), Take That's Ultimate Collection (or any of their recent set really) I think you mean ECG (EKG for the Americans) - heartbeat wouldn't show up as much on EEG (brainwaves)! Seriously though, Buble's Crazy Love would be another great candidate!

Also, from the above the 4 Rihanna singles don't total 4.4mil (as stated in the OCC article), but from my knowledge of their previous sales this would be far too high.... :huh:

hey Liam, in total shock that it wasn't a VC response! Thanks! Couple look suspect there though, maybe a little out of date? I think the GaGa forum had a last figure of 927k (from memory) for just dance and VC estimated 966-968k ish for bad romance. Also 990k seems very high for Cheryl Cole, though if right she should pass the million pretty soon actually probably this year? Nice to see Kylie seems to have sold another 20k since the last figure i saw for it. Total classic!

could anyone (and by that i of course mean vidcapper or gezza) annotate this with sales? The positions should give some estimate to the level of increase of some old hits hopefully :)

On that same note aren't she and the Beatles the only acts in the UK chart to hold 2 positions in both the album and singles chart top 5 simultaneously (which I think she did for a few weeks including the albums top2).

Do you think RITD will become the biggest selling digital song ever in the states? Last I looked it wasn't too far off and well over 200k again last week is phenomenal. It hasn't been mentioned by MW or OCC but SLY must be biggest selling UK download and biggest selling digital only single ever

I liked it! Though it got ropey later on ITV2... Can't believe they told Adele to pipe down! Thought she'd win everything and we'd get a big medley performance! Hope she can take 21 to the top for a 21st week this week ;)

Good list VC, could possibly be displayed in a more visually appealing way I guess to increase interest (e.g. graphs on your blueyonder, or all the various thresholds together just for each week to date could be added by you each week of 2012. Interesting and I appreciate, just trying to be constructive due to your desire for comments! I'd like to see the albums too - I think there's more concern about that being that the perception is they are failing and are worth higher revenue, singles are kind of looking after themselves at the moment

It didn't really underperform I suppose, it passed the million mark in 2008, MW confirmed it when it did. Dunno if that makes its their biggest selling, suppose parklife is the other big contender. They are really good but really why now? No recent output they should have got it years ago or not at all seems slight barrel scraping although they are brill

Realised another - fastest female album to sell 2million copies and 2nd overall (joint with Dido): Fastest selling albums to 2m sales: 1. Robson & Jerome (48 days) 2. Dido / Adele (87 days) 3. Beatles - 1 (97 days) In terms of top female by total career weeks at no1 in the albums, Madonna is still ahead with 29 (vs. Adele's 21)

Another platinum album from the Minogue. All the Lovers was a really great lead and picked up loads of support but as above I remember thinking at the time though these were her best sales in ages even combined I don't think she'd have seriously challenged for no1. Another no2 would have been fun though and she was 2 in the mids all week shame she slipped. I think here singles no1 days may be behind her now, it was a really strong track and with the ever increasing numbers in the singles market it's becoming harder and harder for fanbase acts to grab no1s even with their leads, on top of that Kylie might be the biggest physical seller left but even with a triple physical she couldn't do it and physicals have since dwindled further, with some record companies reducing to single format or none at all even in established artists. I was also disappointed she couldn't score another top10 off the album, get outta my way was a really strong track (although textbook Kylie) and Better Than Today really grew on me. When you consider her past incredible consecutive top10 runs, its especially sad though those days seem to be gone for all artists now. Hopefully she continues with the platinum albums though. As the album market weakens its an uphill struggle

I have a total of 4,475,000 to end 2008, plus 248,500 for 2009, plus your 246,200 this decade would make 4,969,000, which I think is the revised down total? Still going to hit 5mil this year which considering what their previous GH set sold is just insane. Adele may have a hard time chasing that one down...

Thank you Zeus, this is always an area of confusion I find. So technically Rumours holds the "official" record however whichever way you cut it Gold has more absolute weeks (top75 or top100) ;)

Are some of its top 100 weeks from when the album chart became an "official" top 100 for a while? It's just I thought Fleetwood MAC's rumours had the all time official chart record with nearly 500 chart weeks (with all being official the vast majority with the chart as a top 75)

;-) I know normally I'd see the logic of it being in the artist forum, but she's won so many it sort of breaks the rules (as she has about every album record going it feels!)
