  1. Seconded! That is so shit, and a good point. I was so annoyed they've abandoned actually releasing a (physical) single now. They were always a decent fanbase act with good physical sales, but then, that was the previous band... I don't know if it was Keisha herself leaving, the no original members thing, or just one line up change to many when the public have already moved on, but the result is the same. They are now a poor man's Saturday's who started life as a poor man's girls aloud. Embarrassing given their legacy. (Ps Saturday's fan b4 I get lynched!)
  2. Yep more split rumours. Must be a new babes era... Lol. However I wouldn't be surprised and I pray they just nail the coffin shut if so the whole thing is already such a farse, between that the getting dropped by the label again, now freedom is free (only to postpone flopping which is pointless and sad). Just listening to Taller the other day. They were so on top then, their like a cheap knock off these days (still ok but not the real thing)
  3. Yeah it'd be a bit like dannii minogues in that respect, which was rather strange. Usher is definitely overdue. He's had loads of big singles and tonnes of albums surprised he hasn't yet. Never invested in any of his studio sets but would probably pick up his GH because of that, think it could be a big seller (though pinks has underperformed a bit imho, though believe it'll sell steadily for ages)
  4. People keep talking about Adele only probably going to get 1 monster album, what about 19? It's been top10 for 35 weeks and surely will hit 2mil by end of the year and sell well into next. Id say those sales are pretty hefty too, never mind '25' or whatever it may be called...

Interesting as apparently they have a 3 album deal. Sony aren't going to want them to flop with no promo. Heard it on commercial radio a bit but no R1 for the babes is a bit of a death knell perhaps. Will it have a physical? I'd say after Keisha left it seemed about 50% of the hardcore fanbase went with her but sure they'd still boost by a few thousand if there's a CDS maybe scrape T10. Is catchy enough but not beyond what anyone else is putting out, don't see it challenging for no1 the way all the babes previous singles did
  6. Me3! It got harder and harder to find them like hmv were moving them so much they're actually hiding them. And even stalwart artists who always physical haven't bothered this year. It got to the point if you don't buy 1st week they sell out too. I find the only through artists website thing an annoying novelty too- I don't won't to check 500 different sites to see if my face artists are releasing I want to check one store all at once thank you. It's become even more ridiculous with stock this way too. Tried to buy the sats this week only to find it appears sold out, despite release week, if you don't know what's out b4 release you don't even get a chance and clearly there was demand as it sold out. So annoying. It's very telling that looking at the release schedule almost no physical no other than obscure bands and that tends to be vinyl which gets way more physical releases than CDs now. Almost wish the physical required rule still existed like it does in Germany still coz you always see the German cds listed on amazon but not paying £6+ for it, and questionable if sale would count... Rant over!

flop im sure. maybe if she'd promote or release a decent song. this sounds like it is off her 1st album, immature lyrics and a bubblegum feel. As a fan its kind of nice to hear her go all "retro-pastiche" on herself, but wouldnt expect that sound to do well now. I wanna go similar really, quite cute but lyrically weak and production wise there's better around, so with no radio support and the fact she doesnt do a bit of promo. It really chaps my ass, she was so consistent here and she's squandered it in favour of the US, since they took notice of her again since Womanizer. Least she sells well somewhere these days :-S
  8. I was joking! And not necessarily disagreeing about maroon 5. Wasn't about individual positions and the comment wasn't critical of any person in particular. Just annoying sometimes itunes have such a big share and since they're the only people to allow such close monitoring of sales changes they're probably over emphasized on BJ I understand Martin, I wasn't trying to get at you, thank you for still posting what you have. Just wondered where Dave Taylor and all that extra info went?
  9. I really miss when this used to cover books games lots of other formats and had some commentary- why'd that ever stop? All it is now is the soulless singles and people bitching how its not right anyway as it doesn't match itunes directly (clearly the only place to buy music)
  10. Will no1, no doubt surely? Joe, considering the complete lack of impact of his operatstar win on his back catalogue I can see it being a short lived top40 entry. Adele should be no2 again behind will .she's sort of unlucky with all these no2 weeks!
  11. Interesting. Wonder if subscription rates will change and there will be any lost/gained content?
  12. Thank you both!
  13. Could i ask for YTD (and TD if you have an estimate) for Eye of the Tiger please? Must be sailing up that all time list. Also where are Rule the World, and Chasing Cars, Mr Brightside in sales these days? and one of your choice Carol (i mean vidcapper, had a countdown moment there sorry :P ) Thanks
  14. Interesting thanks. Funny both figures the same. Is that for Def Mayb and Morning Glory, is anything else included? Must have sold similar in 97 with Be Here Now and Catalogue sales staying so strong for them. I realised James Blunt had the biggest Calendar Year Album (singular) sales (until now) but i never thought he had the biggest Calendar Year Artist Album(s) sales too. Are none higher than this? Struggling to think Tbh. Winehouse sold huge a couple ago, i remember Frank alone sold 350k but i doubt that'd set records. Beatles? Madge or MJ at their peak? Its difficult to think of many artists selling a significant amount of their old material during any active era, and since only a handful of singular albums did over 2mil in a calendar year (and Adele leads that pack) she's probably never been bested. Could i ask where Kate Bush is at sales wise with Director's Cut please?
  15. my bad, I went off on a tangent and confused the issue, I was trying to say the reason we often get summer songs not released to autumn is because they take a while to come over from the US, so the practice is not unusual (although that is not the explanation in this case). I totally agree with your point though she can't win. I feel she would get on better if it wasn't syco though- their cynicism is all over this and I think she would be creatively guided more or afforded more freedom elsewhere, even another big label. I am a leona ballad fan but I also really liked "outta my head" where she was clearly experimenting with up tempo- it sounded fairly modern but not derivative of everyone else .the controversy over the sample isn't great either. Leaving a bad taste. share the same hopes/fears. Sure R1 will A list though. This is a new lead single from her, she's a big artist and they always receive much more Interest. It's usually later singles that get passed over if the campaign is flopping. Also they're already playing it, it should do ok
  16. err no, you're confusing Autumn with the Equinox, which technically should be the middle of autumn (thanks to the ITCZ things run around a month behind but The beginning of September is still Autumn) for a "Summer" song to only start its chart career midseptember (it wont chart until 13th sept) just seems silly to me. But its not the 1st time, particularly when we get US songs late (those thats not an excuse this time). It doesnt have to be a summer song though but it does sound that way. I like Leona but i am disappointed at this stage. We dont need another GaGa/Rihanna - she less predictable doing what she did before these days, and the image doesnt suit her
  17. Not her best work. Seems a bit dumbed down to me, though maybe it'll grow as ppl have said. Reminds me of the Katy Perry Firework school of song writing so should do well despite that. The usual stupid notion of a "hot" "summer" track - released in the autumn!

My understanding is record companies register how they want a song to be listed, and select a main version

the singles chart is still exactly that- download singles with multiple tracks still exist (only counting as 1 sale), b-sides do (eventually) get combined and "1tracks" are not a new concept to downloads- there were many physical singles where this was done. Also the way you are talking about a main A side or only counting one is missing the point- you are essentially treating the other as a B side then which isn't really accurate as there is a distinction. Downloads have muddied the waters though which is probably why they've died off. You keep mentioning your rules and how you record them- record them where? The OCC already has rules regarding this and if you are recording them anywhere official or for reference you should use these to maintain consistency, otherwise there will just be confusion. Ps iris is currently listed by itself in the top200 I believe, not being combined to the original double A so perhaps its sales are standalone
  20. This! Well I don't have 19 yet but it is only a matter of time. Don't even mind chasing pavements so much now. It was probably just the soul overload that year. It would have been very difficult to predict this level of success and it still remains to be seen where it takes her to. Had anyone predicted this level of success for any artist early on they would have been rubbished "loon" etc
  21. And what's with all the jagger locomotion interest of late? Moving like him, swagger like him cher Lloyd)
  22. Cheers for the answers. I may stand corrected on the maroontina track then. I looked the kylie boxset up and ordered! Lol. Great deal £10 for 5 albums wonder if it'll chart on the main chart
  23. oh Xtina and Maroon 5 desperate on both parts methinks. Ooh whats the Kylie the albums 2000-2010 one all about?
  24. I thought we were looking at a single digit % decline on albums again this year. Encouraged to see their actually up slightly and while digital sales are growing at an increasing rate and finally taking off, physical sales are holding fairly fast. Still love my physical, but I am running out of storage solutions which does make me wonder!
