I think she'll have biggest selling non top 10 single too before too long, with SFTTR. Did it make no1 in America too?! What was the last British artist or artist to have 3 no1s in a row (and off the same album) there? Wow Ps I know these are all Adele related but they are chart records which i why I think they belong in Chart Chat rather than the artist forum where someone interested in chart records won't see them

I was thinking that with Adele breaking so many records of late it may be worth trying to collect them all in one place to further underline her amazingness. And she's done it again! Rihanna now sets an all time record for most weeks ever on the singles chart in a calendar year, spending an incredible 202 weeks on the top75 in 2011. Occurring only 2 years after GaGa set a new record with 156/157 (depending on source), can this even be bested? Also occurring in a year where it was announced she's sold over 12mil singles overall which should currently place her in the top 5 of all time for this and close to the top 5 for the most weeks on the chart ever (only woman ahead on both counts is Madonna). The top 200 is also official Bre. And the beyond top 75 rule is created by the OCC (and their predecessors) not Music Week. It hasn't been changed and since widespread convention still only includes top75 (e.g. websites such as polyhex, acharts, official chart books which are OCC branded and sanctioned) the top75 is still the officially considered chart. Anything beyond that is as you say an "extension", but of course sales positions are all official to the number "x". You seem to be missing the point. The "officialness" is not up for debate here, only the validity (regarding chart records etc.)

The established official chart is a top 75. This is what MW publish, what is still used for the purpose of chart books/records and all that is allowed to be reproduced without prosecution. While the OCC list the top 100 on their own website as has already been mentioned a top200 exists which is also not freely available but while based on official sales and derived from the OCC neither are considered official in established chart terms. It's a slightly odd situation since the OCC started the publishing the full top100 on their website but that's the way it is. Maybe it'll change some day

Hey VC thanks for the above. I've worked these figures out myself. I just wondered from your own opinion and statistical superiority if you felt it was likely or not. If Bruno s sales increase week on week (as most things do at this time of year) it didn't seem impossible he could overtake. Also the boob has stupid high sales is registering huge increases and certainly has taken it over 200k previous xmases. My feeling is 19 will stay ahead but may be run close to the wire... Seems from the above you think she'll stay ahead too! What do you see Buble and Bruno finishing on? Also the figure I was asking for was 19s sales this week if you have an estimate (pre/post OZAP is fine!)

Hey VC do you think Adele is likely to hold the top2 this year? Slightly irked by the thought of Bubles insane sales or Bruno Mars Platinum edition sailing past 19, as its trickled down the chart somewhat. What did it sell this week?

They had posted a news item last Sunday declaring Rihanna longest no1 of the year beating adele with 6 weeks. This mis count doesn't seem to have filtered itself out completely yet ;-s

Seems it would be nice for Olly to get another no1 this week - which other XF star got bigger with their second era campaign? (If anyone says Joe McEldreach i will stab them in the eyes - getting dropped and launching a career as a quick cash in after winning a SECOND reality TV show can't really be considered building on existing strengths IMHO) I suppose Girls Aloud and Will Young did but they were Pop Stars/Idol and not XF technically He has a nice lead but Rihanna is eroding day on day - making a genuinely interesting battle for a change. Agreed about the CDS - will be ironic if despite the small number shifted it would've been enough to make #1 instead of #2...

I think TTs Rule the World has a decent shot. It's now well. Over 800k (I think, vidcapper?) And sells very consistently. Gets airplay and used on XF montages etc all the time and TT are still huge so don't see that going away. You've got to think Sailing (Rod Stewart) and Especially for You (Kylie and Jason) are making it soon if not already the mystery missing two... Also pretty sure Adele will become the biggest selling single by UK solo female in the next few weeks

Seconded! That is so shit, and a good point. I was so annoyed they've abandoned actually releasing a (physical) single now. They were always a decent fanbase act with good physical sales, but then, that was the previous band... I don't know if it was Keisha herself leaving, the no original members thing, or just one line up change to many when the public have already moved on, but the result is the same. They are now a poor man's Saturday's who started life as a poor man's girls aloud. Embarrassing given their legacy. (Ps Saturday's fan b4 I get lynched!)

However I wouldn't be surprised and I pray they just nail the coffin shut if so the whole thing is already such a farse, between that the getting dropped by the label again, now freedom is free (only to postpone flopping which is pointless and sad). Yeah it'd be a bit like dannii minogues in that respect, which was rather strange. Usher is definitely overdue. He's had loads of big singles and tonnes of albums surprised he hasn't yet. Never invested in any of his studio sets but would probably pick up his GH because of that, think it could be a big seller (though pinks has underperformed a bit imho, though believe it'll sell steadily for ages)

People keep talking about Adele only probably going to get 1 monster album, what about 19? It's been top10 for 35 weeks and surely will hit 2mil by end of the year and sell well into next. Id say those sales are pretty hefty too, never mind '25' or whatever it may be called...

Interesting as apparently they have a 3 album deal. Sony aren't going to want them to flop with no promo. Heard it on commercial radio a bit but no R1 for the babes is a bit of a death knell perhaps. Will it have a physical? I'd say after Keisha left it seemed about 50% of the hardcore fanbase went with her but sure they'd still boost by a few thousand if there's a CDS maybe scrape T10. Is catchy enough but not beyond what anyone else is putting out, don't see it challenging for no1 the way all the babes previous singles did

Me3! It got harder and harder to find them like hmv were moving them so much they're actually hiding them. And even stalwart artists who always physical haven't bothered this year. It got to the point if you don't buy 1st week they sell out too. I find the only through artists website thing an annoying novelty too- I don't won't to check 500 different sites to see if my face artists are releasing I want to check one store all at once thank you. It's become even more ridiculous with stock this way too. Tried to buy the sats this week only to find it appears sold out, despite release week, if you don't know what's out b4 release you don't even get a chance and clearly there was demand as it sold out. So annoying. It's very telling that looking at the release schedule almost no physical no other than obscure bands and that tends to be vinyl which gets way more physical releases than CDs now. Almost wish the physical required rule still existed like it does in Germany still coz you always see the German cds listed on amazon but not paying £6+ for it, and questionable if sale would count... Rant over!

flop im sure. maybe if she'd promote or release a decent song. this sounds like it is off her 1st album, immature lyrics and a bubblegum feel. As a fan its kind of nice to hear her go all "retro-pastiche" on herself, but wouldnt expect that sound to do well now. I wanna go similar really, quite cute but lyrically weak and production wise there's better around, so with no radio support and the fact she doesnt do a bit of promo. It really chaps my ass, she was so consistent here and she's squandered it in favour of the US, since they took notice of her again since Womanizer. Least she sells well somewhere these days :-S
