Up-Dated UK Million Sellers - On BBC Radio 2
Thanks, interesting list, and most not implausible. I see it as 3 types of hit: 1. current/recent hits who's sales are tailing off but may reach over the million if they maintain some momentum (e.g. eminem-rihanna, cheryls FFTL, Gaga's Bad Romance (don't see JD doing it anytime soon tbh)) 2. Perrennials (e.g. Aerosmith, Chasing Cars - Eye of the Tiger has done well in this category) 3. Oldies - not likely to be popular downloads but only a fraction away (e.g. Rod Stewart, Royal Scot's Guard, Dawn, Kylie & Jason) You'd think with it already being on 990k+, both of them still being around and "new" cherrypicks off Ultimate Kylie it would reach soon (though prob sounds a bit naff now). It def would if they redid it for charity/for a laugh e.g. a live CIN performance!

iTunes Chart: November 2010 (III)
I'm shocked by this given last album you'd think they'd support 1st single regardless. Explains it for me though ppl won't buy what they don't know exists, its a good catchy song too (if a little shrill in places) Exactly making robbies point though: "Reality Killed the Video Star"! Vinyl is a form of physical but sure I know what u meant and it must be selling a tonne of that considering Nah, objectively 3 words is easily cheryls best. Very stylish, simple, suits her voice, good balance with will, great video (although they've all been good since too)

Take That Progress sales
Can I just say this is the Progress predict thread, and not the Westlife vs TT or WL/TT are $h!tter thread? Could we just stay on topic? If you want a vs debate, open a new thread maybe? I still think with Saturday sales 600k isn't out the question though 550k+ may be a safer assumption

iTunes Chart: November 2010 (III)
Me2! Its the first (well second) Duffy song I've liked and 1st I've bought . Hopefully she's getting some new appeal since a lot of her casual fans will have fallen off the soul bandwagon now its not "in" anymore. Wow at Olly- he's not far off XFF and they both have performances. I'm sure they'll push ahead early on but may fall as the week goes on. He's not far off them already could he push ahead during the week and give them a run for their money? I suppose supermarket physicals may save them anyway

Pointless "Deluxe" Editions
Then I guess it would be in your (financial) interest to learn. Its extremely simple with many sites available who will walk you through the few steps required to do it. Also sites like this where ppl will gladly explain. As I said I'm not a huge fan of downloading particularly for deluxes as that seems sort of ironic to me, but it does have its advantages, and in that situation will save u money

Interestingly, this is the 1st TT i've thought seriously of buying. I liked the new sound on the previews. That said, i did see Beautiful World for £3 the other day and considered it as i like Patience. What annoys me is the Rule The World version is super rare now, as i quite like that too, though not sure about the rest of it. They look set for 500-600k, but judging the way The Circus started and progressed throughout the week and the rather meteoric rise to that over 400k figure after the last mids, i still think this could potentially do more, though Circus was released a couple of weeks closer to Xmas which may have had a bearing on that

Pointless "Deluxe" Editions
HMV pricing in store of deluxes can be a real disgrace. Usually £16-18 for some of the most undeserving. It seemed they were typically £16 when they started to get popular but came down to more like £13 a while after (possibly backlash) but this year have went back up and more and more seem to be £18. Kylie's Aphrodite was this, with a DVD with around an hour of video and not a single extra song. It seems outrageous it was double the price for not double the content. Surely we should be rewarded by an attractive price for buying more not punished (as "oh they're desperate for it, they'll pay anything"). Its a real problem as supermarkets often don't stock the deluxe so there's no competition on the high street. Digital deluxes (try as iTunes might with digibooklets etc) just don't make sense to me as part of the point of the deluxe is the great quality packaging, booklet, and other possible extras (e.g. posters) and a digital album already feels like a cheap alternative. (Despite that on iTunes you still get an extra song not included on the more expensive physical deluxe  ) In terms of the Brandon one that pisses me off a bit as the original is only a 10track, and the other 4 songs are clearly good enough for inclusion so i actually feel the opposite to you. If these songs were ready and deemed good enough for inclusion why do i have to pay more than the cost of a normal album to get the whole thing? (or only get 70% of it for a normal album price). It's different if they were recorded and released later to re-promote the album but if they're ready why not give them to everyone? They're not even on a separate disc ffs! And in what sense is the cover "better" btw? Is it because its closer up to Brandon in that shot? :naughty:

Ellie stretching ahead quite nicely, shame it won't be enough. The Time has eased off now, i guess with so much competition and it has yet to pick up good airplay and promotion in the run up to release

Album #8 Discussion Thread || It's time for Jade to shine
not at all, i loved the Sugababes i'm just sad that band is over, but the brand continues. and regarding getting back to AWDF level? well i'd rather be a realist accused of being a hater than delusional

More albums are being released with only 10 tracks
I hate hate hate this! Either I have to buy the album from itunes/apple or I don't get the whole thing. I wouldn't mind giving them the 99p for the extra track but they inevitably make it "album only" on the big tracks. Its not like when there was special editions of albums where at least I could choose the shop I bought it in. I wish more artists would refuse or make the songs available more places. Funny I was thinking of her too. Her albums are great quality but they can seem a little bloated and inaccessible when they're all 20 tracks. Perhaps if she released some singles again like a proper campaign and had a few b-sides instead...

thanks for the clarification Zeus. Although i really hate these re-writes, always seem fishy to me tbf, 235k is still absolutely exceptional and is probably the 2nd largest ever, even if some way behind. Even TT don't have the Ubiquity Oasis had at that one point, and Oasis were still riding the crest of their last album then really, The Circus has kind of been and gone. I think Oasis also have the potential to appeal to more people. Not that TT music isn't broad, its just they're not as credible- its always ok and cool to like a rock band but loads of ppl may not buy TT even if they like the sound as they wouldn't want to buy a "BoyBand" album

iTunes announcement due today
dear gawd, look at that US list. Will all download sites have the Beatles and not just iTunes now?

Take That Progress sales
love the specificness. And also your sig: "This site is a means to communication for me - I find information, other people's opinions, I express my own opinion and have a laugh. It is not some sort of shop window where I want to post pictures of myself, constantly parade my Top 5 singles of the week to which no one really cares and show pictures of my favourite artists - who I don't like because of their appearance anyway. But each to their own."

iTunes announcement due today
So the day of ultimate liberty has finally come - without any warning or real build up! (Dramatic enough? lol) I don't think we're having an all Beatles top10 or anything unless there's some huge stupid media campaign fronted by Syco/for charity/heavy promo/etc. I would guess many Beatles fans or those interested would be more likely to be traditional buyers who would prefer not only albums, but physicals. As their digitally remastered physical albums only at best managed fleeting top10 re-entries i honestly don't see the (higher sales) singles chart being too overwhelmed. Especially at this supercompetitive and high sales period of the year - they'll struggle for top10 imho. Sure the albums will take a small boost again. What will be interesting in the next few years will be to see how this affects the all time sellers list, as the beatles have basically been unable to add to their singles tally until now. I could see trickle selling of cherrypicks taking a few higher into the list and maybe even some crossing the million? I think they potentially will be good catalogue sellers over time. Incidentally, anyone know their next closest to 1mil (i know they have a couple over already)? Also could again rival Cliff and Elvis in total single sales terms

Up-Dated UK Million Sellers - On BBC Radio 2
I'm not zeus (maybe I can be apollo instead :lol ) but see my previous post above. I think the same would apply here. Although ineligible to chart, I believe all of its sales will be collated, and included in the total

Individual Song Polls; Move away from UK Chart Forum?
Limiting sounds difficult to police and a bit unfair if you're just the last to get in there. I agree they should stay but grouping them together sounds sensible. Putting them in genres when its predicting chart positions just seems wrong and people will miss them. Rather than a pinned index how about a subforum like me have for chart commentaries called predicta or something? It would then sit at the top of chart chat, but not clog up the main thread but not be missed by those not wishing to visit artist or genre pages?

Album #8 Discussion Thread || It's time for Jade to shine
yeah and Siobhan had a kidney infection! Next she'll be wanting a career in fashion. I note its Jade and not amelle doing all the talking these days which is sad as she's not really a sugababe but they're trying to make her look important i suppose in the hopes she eventually will be. Not surprised the record company are giving them time- they don't want them to have any excuses to use this time so they can't argue when they drop them after this one. I also read not using big producers as couldn't afford big producers since im sure the budget is severely diminished now. I love the SBs harmonies but voices and an acoustic guitar sounds so MoR i could puke. And it doesn't sound new and fresh AT ALL. Worse idea than Sweet 7 :puke2:

also if the sales post could be pinned to the front as it took me ages to find it buried in the thread thanks!

The Saturdays feat. Flo Rida - Higher
thats a nice idea. them not doing it on a stunt, but maybe a lead or 2nd single a couple of years down the line. A bit like All Saints and Never Ever, that went to no1 a while after everyone thought they had lost their shot with it and ended up selling buckets (although they had a few no1s in their time)
-
The Saturdays feat. Flo Rida - Higher
i agree. its done really well for weeks before full release and the florida thing is a bit of a laff for the fans who'll understand his significance to the band. I think it has been marketed right in terms of good overall sales even if not its absolute best peak. I wasn't trying to single anyone out personally which is why i quoted so many, just funny almost everyone go so caught up in thinking it would peak so high when on reflection the odds were more against it
-
The Saturdays feat. Flo Rida - Higher
Oh dear oh dear. I perfect set of examples of positive bias- since sats fans are the only ones (except the 10% who irrationally hate everything i suppose) caring enough to post in the thread they all wildly overestimate their appeal clouded by where they think it "deserves". I could've quoted 16000 more but i didn't have the heart to keep going. Glad they made top10 by the skin of their teeth in the end. :arrr: Err, sadly THIS :arrr:

Black Eyed Peas - The Time (Dirty Bit)
both good points! It may do a "Love You Way You Lie" and become a giant no2 (that sounded bad but i'm sure some of you agree for different reasons!) instead. Despite the uphill struggle against XF acts who been destined for no1 and had their airplay raped for weeks etc. and think the BEPs may surprise them all and outsell the lot of them. Despite no vid, not officially released and still limited play (though not for long now i'll bet). they're a real force now. Amazing on your 6th album era and rather rare!
-
Black Eyed Peas - The Time (Dirty Bit)
You may all say hideous (though other than the sample I can't see what's different to their last era), but I see lots of peeps are switching on to it now. Like I said before it appeared on itunes (was it added early due to all the furore? Id heard we weren't getting it this year then nov 29th?) Its gonna be no1 and has hit written all over it. Its awful in the way california gurls is, but addictive like sugar/crack cocaine!

iTunes Chart: November 2010 (II)
Never mind jls next week, the way things are going BEPs could have it! Rapid climb through even the higher postions in the last few hours alone! :o It'd be nice for shane to hold on for the week, KP stilling selling well, rihanna defying expectations, and a small chance of a big TT boost next week. Don't you love this time of year?!

Up-Dated UK Million Sellers - On BBC Radio 2
I think for crazy although it wasn't eligible to chart, its sales still count and will be included in the 995k total. Its a bit like when albums go budget and are ineligible to chart, but their sales still count and add to their total. Congrats to BL, I wonder who else is close?
