  3. If you have a minute Dave, or Trev..On Capital Radio 1991 - 93, they used to run a chart show on Wednesday nights 7.30 - 10pm with Clive Warren (before he went to Radio One, and back again to local radio), sometime it was hosted by Neil Fox (he also did the Capital Countdown, on Saturdays when he took over from Peter Young, Alan Freeman, and Pat Sharp). On both Wednesdays, and Saturdays, they played a top 40 in full. The show disappeard when the Pepsi Chart, took over from the Network top 40. How did these Weds/Sat charts work, they apparently had airplay, but sometimes were closer to the Radio One top 40??
  4. Thanks Dave, it will be interesting to compare this to both Sunday`s top 40, and I will also tune in to Chart Show TV on Sky tomorrow afternoon. When does your chart break off Dave?
  5. I will look forward to see it tomorrow Dave. How in reality, will it be close to the Radio one chart? I mean will it come close, or will there be a remarkable difference, like the Next Week Chart thread?
  6. Would the disqalification discussion be The Script? Offered free on a certain download site>As you plan to do a new Saturday chart this week, to replace mrib etc, will you include it anyway Dave?

  8. No Radio 1`s is compiled by MILWARD BROWN. MRIB are another market research company, who used to compile for Capital Radio etc.
  9. brianhankin posted a post in a topic in UK Charts
On behalf of Dave, I will explain to the youngsters, that did not know....MRIB produced charts for Independant Radio, i.e. Capital in London etc between 78 - 93. The chart still continued until this week. (They haven`t done a radio chart, since the Smash Hits Chart in 2006). Hit40uk is compiled by MUSIC CONTROL/MILWARD BROWN, with added airplay of 50%. The "Official" Chart, is so called because it`s used by radio 1. The Radio 1 chart is a compilation/research company called MILWARD BROWN (who compile it`s chart, for the OFFICIAL CHART COMPANY. There are other companies that produce charts. At one time there were about 6 research companies producing them, for other companies i.e. ITV, music press etc. iF MILWARD BROWN lost the contract, for the Official Chart Company, another Market Reserach Team, would be brought in to compile it. Where as MRIB compiled a record chart, and sold the rights to other companies, like Capital Radio/Smash Hits/MSN. It now means that, only MILWARD BROWN and Chartshow tv will research record charts. It`s a shame, because on a Saturday MRIB, had the most up to date researched chart, even ahead of Fridays MILWARD BROWN mids. It also has to be said that MRIB do a great deal of work/data with Vodafone, msn, and many other well known brands. As dave said earlier mrib`s founder Barry Lazzell, passed away a few years ago.
  10. That`s a shame Dave. Did you know that before? They were the first to do Indie charts, too.
  11. I reckon its INFERNAL - FAIRYTALE and it has that type of drum beat.
  12. Try GAMMA RAY. Then maybe Tori Amos. Theydid songs with Fairytale in the title
  13. Sure its not Vanessa Carlton?
  14. That`s interesting. I thought it strange, when Dale announced a Long John Baldry song, and then played a different one! :) Were Alan`s shows on Radio 2, done the same?
  15. Totally agree Dave. I noticed that Phillip Swern (the producer of POTP) has recently taken over producing, Brian Matthew`s SOTS programme, that too is not a patch, on what it used to be. They no longer use the BBC charts, on POTP for the 60s, and it makes listening to the original shows, from the 60s a total farce. He tried telling us, the other week that Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich were number one in 1968. If you listen to POTP in 1968, you find it got stuck behind Cinderella Rockefella, for a few weeks, and it didn`t go to the number one, at all.
