  1. Can Padam Padam go all the way to #1 before it enters ACR?
  2. Some questionable & disastrous additions / omissions to the playlist. Is a human being responsible for it or an AI software? :drama: Why do we need Viva Forever three times? Spice Up Your Life twice (almost) in a row? Seriously?! Voodoo, Stop (Awful Live Version), Spice Invaders and Spice Chat at the expense of classic & popular tracks such as Move Over, If You Can't Dance and Do It?
  3. Perhaps it was in one of her stories, but here is a clip someone in the audience has posted. @1668939660360572928
  4. All of them are over 40.
  5. Actually, all the male artists mentioned in your post, except for Steven Tyler, were under 40 in 1998.
  6. Do P!nk, Sia, Beyonce & Nicki Minaj not fall under the category of "old women"?
  7. Both of those singles were released *after* Believe's massive success astonished the music industry. There was an influx of "old" singers that tried to emulate Cher's success. They tried to replicate her new sound. Tina's and Diana's record labels even recruited Believe's producers. Even Kylie used them for her comeback album. Everyone wanted to make a comeback like Cher. I doubt Kylie would have gotten her Parlophone deal if it wasn't for Cher's success.
  8. I think Melanie's Goin' Down video suffered the same problem. Wasn't it banned / restricted to late hours by some music television stations due to its "violent content" and "offensive language"?
  9. No. It certainly wasn't easier. You are still discrediting & downplaying Cher's colossal achievement. By the way, where are the examples of female artists over 50 that were playlisted by Radio 1 (and MTV) in the 90's? Have you not found them?
  10. Not to mention the fact that Virgin spent a fortune producing TWO expensive music videos for Word Up. She clearly had the required budget to succeed. They believed in her potential.
  11. Hmmm... No. Except Madonna none of them was "pushing 40". :manson: In 1998 Mariah Carey was 29. Shania Twain was 33. Whitney Houston was 35. Celine Dion was 30. Compare that with Cher being 52 years old.
  12. A single that spent one or two weeks in the Top 10 isn't on the same level of a bonafide smash like Believe.
  13. No, it really "wasn't easier for older artists in the 90's". Cher was the exception. Radio 1 and MTV didn't touch old female artists. They weren't seen as "cool" Which old female artists were playlisted by MTV & Radio 1? Can you provide examples? I'm afraid your personal bias is talking here. You are basically claiming that Kylie's feat is more impressive than Cher's. :drama:
  14. Exactly. Her compilation is basically utilizing a loophole in the chart rules. It's ridiculous. :coffee:
  15. Buying a CD single was more expensive than streaming or downloading a song, and that's before even taking inflation into account. Secondly, back then you couldn't influence the chart from the comfort of your sofa.
  16. Why was it a "simpler" time? :???:
  17. It doesn't count, since it isn't a solo Elton single.
  18. Believe was a smash hit right out of the gate, spending 7 weeks at #1 and becoming the best selling single by a female EVER. What's more, its success wasn't limited to the UK only. It was a worldwide mega hit pretty much in every corner of the world. It even managed to cross over to the USA - the toughest market in the world. Shazam Shazam still has a long way to go to even reach a 1/10 of Believe's success.
  19. Two? Who's the other one?
  20. What does The Fifth Chapter mean? Does it have any meaning?
  21. Melanie is in the studio with Rose Gray. :music: @1668982178732990466
  22. Here is a selection of pictures & videos from Melanie's two DJ sets at Mambo Ibiza and Pacha last Thursday: @1667562623272108032 @1667571352965107712 @1667090912944566273 But that's not all, folks. ;) Melanie will be back behind the decks at Pacha (for the third time!) on August 17th:
  23. Her best chance would be to duet with the new Queen of Pop, Kylie Minogue. Having said that, I'm not so sure Kylie would be keen. :drink:
  24. :w00t: @1668587660355727360
  25. What is happening? :o
