  1. This is irrelevant to her getting a hit. She's had countless singles that didn't chart or charted low. All it took was the right song at the right time. When Melanie & Matt announced the release of Loving You nobody expected them to get a hit, but they did. Never say never.
  2. Let's be honest, if Kylie can get a Padam Padam moment at 55 years old, then so can Melanie at 49 years old.
  3. The reason (pun intended!) is simple, IMO. Melanie was marketed by Virgin as the British P!nk, as a cool rock chick. She came back with an edgy single in Here It Comes Again. You don't follow it up with a pure pop (and relatively cheesy) song. It sends a contradicting message. What's more, in 2003 pop was on its way out. The Greg Alexander sound had already become quite dated by the time On the Horizon came out. The second single should have been a rocky number - Yeh Yeh Yeh or Let's Love.
  4. When You're Gone is in a league of its own. We love an enduring classic. Thank you, Jay. As always, it's a pleasure to read your commentaries. Do you also happen to have the all-time total?

That is (almost) always the case when the track in question is licensed from another record label.

High Hopes is the best new track on this release. 1rj6ZlQfEZo
  9. Really? Her last album featured no less than 5(!) collaborations. Over the past twenty years, she has collaborated with everyone & anyone who is young and popular: Justin Timberlake, M.I.A., Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Maluma, Cardi B, Quavo, Swae Lee, Anitta, Chance the Rapper, Missy Elliott, Britney Spears, Lil Wayne, Nas, Dua Lipa, Beyonce, etc.
  10. Queen of auto-payola! :mansoncheer:
  11. I don't think we can compare. PP is a solo song, whereas P is just a feature. Let's be honest. The Weekend would get major playlist support even if he featured his dog on a song. :arrr:
  12. Emma and Melanie attended Beyonce's concert in London yesterday.

The version you didn't know you needed. ;) i5j_CT7nyow
  17. What?! Emma had just as many variants. Streaming-wise, Melanie's self-titled album has done much better. It also charted in more countries.

  19. Because she doesn't need to. She is just a feature on someone else's song. The Weeknd is HUGE on streaming. He doesn't need her endorsement. Vulgar is a different case. It's a joint single.
  20. It's still not the huge international hit I expected it to be. Looks like it's flopping in the biggest markets: USA, France & Germany.
  21. Could it be any more repetitive? :drama: Once you've heard the first 40 seconds, you've basically heard the entire song. :manson: 4qS9JUnTwww
  22. Just a correction - it's only certified Platinum. I don't understand why as it was supposed to have set a record for biggest selling album by an ex UK girl group member at the time of release with over 900k UK sales. It was brought up on Denden because everyone thought it was Melanie C with Northern Star. It was then broken by Cheryl Cole and 3 Words.
