  1. Pros • It's a bop • It's more than 3 mins Cons • It's not as catchy as Woman's World • It feels very Diet Becky Hill... I'll keep it. It's fun. But I suspect I'll be listening WW more in the future!
  2. Four weeks in and I'm still loving this! So summery! Shame it's tanked. 😔 I had a brief lapse where I was listening to basically only JADE and Charli, but this has firmly wriggled its way back into the fold for me!
  3. I really want the cassette, but 9 quid plus postage takes the piss... Hopefully they reduce it in time! I've just ordered the vinyl for now, as I don't want to miss out on that (not interested in the CD)
  4. Absolutely not in a million Sundays. 🙊 It could have just been an extra song... I've recently been to Foo Fighters (who did a 3 hour set) and I'm seeing Taylor Swift next month (for another 3+ hour set). The support was a DJ set, they definitely could have fit in an extra 5 mins for this: if they liked the song, and wanted to include it, they'd have fit it in somewhere!
  5. I'm sure her label and team probably would not have gone ahead with this (and seemingly INVESTED in a big budget video) if they didn't think it was a stroke of genius. I feel like people don't want her to do well because she's worked with Dr Luke, but again, alot of these people are people that are perfectly content listening to Doja Cat, Kim Petras etc. Kesha seems to have been the only artist (that I can see) that's made any vague comment about this release and it's link to Dr Luke. I think it's more a combination of negativity surrounding that (which I still can't rack my brains about - again, I'm not condoning sexual violence etc, there just isn't the evidence, and Kesha is the only artist that's come forward regarding that in particular, that I'm aware of) and it being unable to gain traction due to being seen as a weaker retread of her previous material (which again, I don't see, but that part is wholly subjective).
  6. Hello 212! Tbc on this one... This snippet isn't the one for me, but will wait for the whole thing!
  7. I've said it before, and it's probably too late to implement now, but... We have a daily streaming cap of 10 plays per day. Why not make this a lifetime streaming cap, each stream amounting to 0.1 sales (maybe even just 5 plays for 0.2 sales...) This would bring units in line with a sales based model. Whilst the song is being promoted, it will have a spike in sales... Hits that are no longer being discovered are booted out... Labels wanting to pay for playlist space get their manipulated short-lived hits, songs that are still successful in a year's time will probably still get new listeners. No need for ACR or SCR as songs people just play repeated will already have had their sales... Christmas songs will rely on being relevant with newer generations discovering them... New generations can also create surges in popularity for older hits! It just feels like it achieves everything the chart wants to achieve whilst giving every song an even playing field. 3 track rule could then be binned too. People can add sales if they want to buy a download or physicals... YouTube views could rely on a separate, similar method (maybe a lower ration, maybe the same?) I don't know how much people listen to each song, but songs that people like have surely got to easily acquire more than 10 (or 5) plays per person (and songs that people don't like, theoretically will get very few streams per person). I'd be interested an a discoveries chart being launched to test the water though...
  8. Perrie was #35 on Apple at about 15:00 Leigh-Anne was #88 at about 16:00 Jesy was #17 at about 16:00 All had great support immediately
  9. ACR and the three track rule are different things all together. I suspect ACR was a response to the chart becoming stagnant with the introduction of streaming (to help fresh songs breakthrough). The three track rule has pretty much been confirmed as being a response to Ed's takeover, to prevent one artist occupying so much space in the chart (where such a phenomenon would already be covered by the album's chart sales). ACR would usually have very little impact on an album's release, as most songs will be released that week, so will not be impacted by it until the hype has settled already anyway!
  10. I can see the Xenomania comparisons... Personally, I'm getting some Charli xcx from this (I feel like it's odd structure and bonkers attitude have taken a leaf out or both of their books)
  11. #1 in Apple Music top songs... Weirdly only #2 on New Music Daily (though it can sometimes be slow to update fully), some Jelly Roll thing fro Twisters is #1... Either way, they're pulling out ALL THE STOPS. Loving the song on first listen. It's bonkers!
  12. I'm surprised On the Metro wasn't Xenomania! I always had it in my head BCYLM was the only non-Xenomania production from Ten!
  13. Do you think having a second CD would generate any more sales than the cassette is managing? I'd imagine 2 CD formats would be counted as separate formats, and when there's only 3 eligible formats allowed and there's a vinyl to come, I can't see anyone going for the second CD that hasn't bought the cassette (and then you'd miss out on cassette sales from those not interested in collecting a CD - ME!) Saying that, I don't think it'll go Top 40 based on just a vinyl release. Maybe that could just have been a 4th (inelligible) format later on, with 2 CDs and a cassette this week instead (just like Tension)?
  14. Just voted. But voted for what I'd have thought re-release... Week 1: Top 20 Peak: Top 5 I just honestly don't know where this went wrong, and I'm not really hearing what other people are hearing (as I said in the main thread)... To me it sounds like a hit, the video is brilliant, it sounds like the sort of thing that would really resonate with people looking for some nostalgic pop, it seemed to have the hype building (a dreadful clip followed by an "ok, I judged it too quickly" clip), Teenage Dream was charging again... It just felt like the stars were aligning. But... Apparently not! So now: Week 1: #41 Peak: #41 (unless Spotify miraculously add it to HH or Apple add it to their Hot Songs, high up)
  15. Juranamo posted a post in a topic in Dua Lipa's Dua Lipa
According to setlist.fm, Madge has only done one date at Wembley since the current stadium was opened (original Wembley had a lower capacity, it was still huge but not completely like for like!) Prior to that, the Who's That Girl (1987), Blond Ambition (1990) and The Girlie Show (1993) tours all had multiple Wembley dates - no idea if they were completely sold out though. Either way, a great achievement for all these superstars!
  16. I'm not even saying that I know every minute detail (I didn't actually know about P!nk and Kelly's comments until now - and that required me to be specific with my googling). From what I can see, their comments were along the lines of "meh, I don't feel bad for him, he's not a good person" and "that's karma for being an arse to work with". I can't see anything where they alluded to anything beyond that. I can't find anything from the other hundreds(?) of people he's worked with saying these sorts of things. They also worked with him in the 2000's (Kelly worked with him in 2009 and apparently told him where to go...) It is very possible that he learnt his lesson there. Some people are difficult to work with/clash/whatever. As far as I can see, this doesn't really have anything to do with gender. A sample of three people isn't really enough for me to say he's a risk to work with (just like I refused to judge Lizzo based on three people complaining about her). I stand by my views. I've never met Dr Luke, Katy, Kesha, Pink or Kelly. I don't know what they're like to work with, I can only see what image is portrayed from what they choose to share or what the press paints... Plenty of people haven't gelled with colleagues I've worked really well with, I don't expect everyone to work well with Dr Luke. I'm not trying to defend a predator. I'm not even like a Katy Perry stan or anything (I have zero intention to go to any of her shoes): I just don't find it comfortable reading an onslaught of negative comments for choosing to work with someone, where none of us can see what has happened behind closed doors. I can just about understand why people might hold different views (given the MeToo context), but until we have more evidence, or other come out with the same kinds of allegations, I have zero reason to be disappointed in Katy deciding to collaborate with a person she has collaborated with many times before. I'm also not oblivious to the fact that convictions are not always correct, I'm literally just saying that we don't have the evidence, and all it takes is for ANY of us to be falsely accused of something by a few people (and one of them to be a serious allegation) for a majority to then judge us - that is what I do not agree with. I hope noone saying these comments gets accused of something they haven't done, because I'm 100% sure it will not be pleasant to go through.
  17. I'd say Whatcha Doing could be benefiting from a combo of being earlier in the album, and also being a lyric that's featured pretty prominently in Illusion. What's that Dua Lipa song "oooh, whatcha doing?". Maybe? And yeah, Happy For You has had some prior promo, and End of an Era is track 1. So Falling Forever is easily on the backfoot there... I'm not surprised the song people were least familiar with (and therefore didn't resonate with) didn't have the biggest impact following Glasto!
  18. I said I wouldn't mention it again, but the song's now out and I'm seeing the same influx of negativity about Katy working with Dr Luke. I'm not enjoying reading about people effectively saying that Dr Luke should be blacklisted from working on any project that the people he's working with deem appropriate for him to work on. I genuinely have no idea why someone who hasn't been convicted of anything can't have a hand in the writing or production of this, and I find it frustrating that it keeps getting brought up. Katy Perry is a woman. She is singing the song. She obviously feels happy with men collaborating with her, that really should be the end of that discussion until further evidence materialises. This isn't targeted at any particular person: I just genuinely feel that if Katy or Dr Luke (or anyone who has been maybe wrongly accused of something before) were reading these sorts of comments, they might feel a bit confused and/or upset. It seems there are only a few people that agree with what I'm seeing, but it's all a bit tough for me to read when I'm loving the song and curious about people's opinions on the song (and not the writing team).
  19. I feel like I'm listening to a different song to almost everyone else. To me this is insanely catchy (I really wish I could have been listening to it on repeat) and is just an almost perfect pop song. The video is fantastic too... My only criticism (which is the same for a lot of songs at the moment) is that it's too short. Basically, I don't want it to end without a middle 8. I guess my tastes are that far away from the general listener these days (maybe I'm in my dated nostalgia era? Because this sounds FRESH to me)
  20. SO SO SO GOOD
  21. I didn't want to risk missing out on the vinyl. I ordered the bundle, then wished I'd have ordered them separately when I noticed the bundle was the same price as getting each format separately (that would have made life easier when the inevitably reduced the price of the the CD and cassette, but they never ended up doing that to my surprise!)
  22. The extended version of Anything For Love confirms what we already knew: it should have been much longer! It would be ideal if we had some other verses (rather than the same part pretty much on loop), but it's still better than what was given to us on the regular album...
  23. The point is those are not the only takes she can have... I agree they would be shitty takes if we actually knew Dr did anything wrong. She also has the option to believe her *own* experiences if she hasn't has the same experiences and is unaware of anyone else having the same experience one person claims they had (all I'm saying there is that *none of us* know what actually happened, because there has - to this date - been no conviction, evidence, or further accusations that have made any noise). This does not make her a bad person in the slightest (unless she *knows* something went on... Which again, we have zero way of knowing). Anyway, this is circular... I won't say anything else on it. It shouldn't matter to me what other people think about people I also know little about, I'm HYPED to hear this, regardless!
  24. I'm just OBSESSED with the new clip. Completely stuck in my head. I haven't seen the lyrics on that dress, but I wouldn't actually be surprised if the awful clip we first got was actually part of the song: it does sound like it would fit in... And if it's say, the opening lines of a verse, it means it's building into a relatively explosive chorus. Goes to show a clip will never show the full picture! (Maybe they selected that clip from the song because they knew people would jump on "it's so bad", getting people talking about it/making tiktoks etc...? If that's that case, faur play, it's DEFINITELY working!) I struggle to see any reason why she would mention anything, whether advised to keep quiet or not. Her team have probably assumed that it might come up in interviews: I doubt she's gonna say "yeah, I worked with him... f*** that liar Kesha!!!1!!1"... I imagine it'll be more along the lines of "they're the only ones that know what happened there, I haven't heard of any other rumblings, I feel bad about how Kesha feels, but *I've* never had any issues when working with him". I'm not an abuse defender, but I can't jump on someone that hasn't been convicted without smoke from a more than a few people - Kesha knows to stay clear, and I would hope if other have experienced the same, they come forward! I'll continue to listen to Kesha, Katy, Dr Luke, anyone, as long as the music's good in the meantime!
  25. Well this one sounds promising!
