  1. Why is everyone feeding it? Just ignore it, it wants a reaction.

Also if your old album came out 2 years ago, for most pop artists, not only is it a case of making sure the next album doesn't sound the same i.e. 2 years old and therefore dated , but making sure that if you are aiming for the current sound that you don't alienate the fans that bought your last record 2 years ago, again this is why album no.2 is so tricky.

Fair point. And that's something else that hasn't been mentioned a lot of successful artists who have stood the test of time have had peaks and valleys i.e. have had a huge album, followed it with a not so successful one(e.g. rated r), and then came back another more successful record(loud). So if we take Leona Lewis as an example, just because Echo did poorly in comparison to Spirit... how do we know that she won't comeback with a huge selling album? I guess what im trying to say that every artist has a slump, it doesn't always negate the end of their career(a lot of the time it does of course). Most artists go through slumps its natural career progression, some ideas work some don't.

I think its been touched on inadvertently....but the internet is a major factor. Artists get found out about much more quickly, and people from all over the world latch on but as a result people tire of said artist a lot more quickly too, again over exposure. If you look at a lot of artists that made their career debuts in the 80's/90's, before the interenet took off... and i know im using all American examples here but anyway..madonna, mariah carey, prince, micheal jackson, janett jackson - NONE of their first albums were their biggest because their weren't over exposed, so when it came to the next album expectations weren't so high. This is what's worked in Rihannas favour. No disrespect, i love her but when she debuted people didn't expect her to last more than 6 months, and her debut album release was quite low key, so when it came to album no.2 - it was much easier for her to build on that. Whereas if she had started with the success of GGGB.....expectations would have been much higher and harder to follow..see what im saying?

oh erm..I can assure you I would be absolutely gobsmacked if it missed the top 20. fanbase alone will assure it top 10 the song is good nothing groundbreaking but catchy and good for radio-and the video is colourful. comfortable top 3/5. maybe an eyelash chance of no.1 if its performed on xfactor beforehand(although I hate how they rely on that show still, and im talking about other former contestants as well) anyway good luck leona! is the album being re-released?

  10. What i meant is it hasn't debuted on the chart yet. i know its been released, but what i meant is how can it be said it hasn't got good legs (All you have too do is look at the UK chart and see very much the opposite)when we don't know that because its only its first week of release. We will find that out when the weeks roll by. Sorry i should have made my post more clear :)
  11. I dont mean to offend you but I think your being very conservative with your estimates, how can you very much doubt it will be near 200K, when HHD( an incredibly reliable source) have said it will be at least 190K. Too say the album hasn't got legs is rediculous, what basis have you for that when it hasn't even been released  Mariah's downloads fell off by 41% percent this week, and leona moved back up to 2, I wouldn't say thats exactly falling away  . Im sorry, I know your post was fine, but it just came across as very, I dunno looking at the bleakest scenario possible, almost like you really don't like her. Obviously I don't know that and its cool if you don't but thats how it came across.
