Finally got round to playing the Billy Connolly vinyls that my dad gave to me. They've been stored in the loft for years so wasn't sure how they'd play but so far so good. This one was released in 1976 and cost £1.60!

I don't really follow new music and charts, so I have no idea what is a good, average or poor sales figure, but from what I've been reading online H2BH seems to be doing very well, which is incredible as she has done very little promo and is still in the middle of a tour for the last album :cheer:
  12. Thanks to everyone who took part :cheer:
  13. The Top 3 03 Hot n Cold 264 points Released: 9th September 2008 Peak UK chart position: 4 20 members voted for this song Hot n Cold is a song by Katy Perry. The song was written by Perry, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin and produced by Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco for her second studio album, One of the Boys (2008). The track was released as the album's second single on September 9, 2008. The lyrics address an unstable romantic relationship caused by a partner's mood swings. The song reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Perry's second consecutive top three single, following "I Kissed a Girl". It also became Perry's second top five single in the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand, and topped the charts in Finland, Germany, Canada, Norway, Spain, and Denmark, among others. To date, "Hot n Cold" has sold over 5.7 million copies in the US, making it one of Perry's highest-selling singles in the nation. kTHNpusq654 02 E.T. (feat. Kanye West) 277 points Released: 16th February 2011 Peak UK chart position: 3 20 members voted for this song E.T. is a song by Katy Perry from her third studio album, Teenage Dream (2010). She co-wrote the song with its producers Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Ammo. "E.T." was serviced to radio stations as the album's fourth single on February 16, 2011. One version of the song features verses from American rapper Kanye West. Musically, it is an electronic and hip hop ballad which draws heavily from dubstep and techno, along with smaller amounts of drum and bass. According to Perry, the song lyrically speaks of "falling in love with a foreigner".[1] The song became Perry's fifth non-consecutive number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and also topped charts in Canada, New Zealand and Poland. To date, "E.T." has sold over six million digital downloads worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles worldwide and Perry's third highest selling song in the U.S. It was the fourth biggest song of 2011, according to Billboard. t5Sd5c4o9UM 01 Teenage Dream 298 points Released: 23rd July 2010 Peak UK chart position: 2 21 members voted for this song Teenage Dream is a song by Katy Perry. It was released as the second single from her third studio album of the same name on July 23, 2010. Perry and Bonnie McKee wrote many songs with youthful themes in mind, but they were rejected by producers Benny Blanco and Dr. Luke. Blanco showed them The Teenagers' single "Homecoming", and McKee imagined "Teenage Dream" as a throwback song to the euphoric feelings of being in love as a teenager. They met with Max Martin in Perry's hometown of Santa Barbara, California and started writing the track at Playback Recording Studio, which Perry later described as a pure moment for her. After Perry recorded her vocals, McKee presented her idea and the chorus was rewritten. Perry also described the song as reminiscent of her youth while contemplating her future marriage to Russell Brand. Musically, "Teenage Dream" is a mid-tempo pop song with a retro sound. It is styled in the genres of power pop and electropop, while taking influence from other genres such as disco and pop rock. Perry starts the song in a high-pitched voice while her vocals grow stronger as the song progresses. Lyrically, "Teenage Dream" discusses being with a lover who makes one feel young again. The song has topped the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Perry's third number-one single on that chart, and her second consecutive number-one single after "California Gurls". "Teenage Dream" has been certified seven times platinum in the United States, as well as receiving platinum and multi-platinum certifications in other countries. 98WtmW-lfeE

  18. 05 Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J) 224 points (one 20/zero 19) Released: 17th December 2013 Peak UK chart position: 4 20 members voted for this song Dark Horse is a song recorded by Katy Perry featuring rapper Juicy J. It was originally released on September 17, 2013, by Capitol Records as the first promotional single from Perry's fourth studio album, Prism (2013). Three months later, it was released as the third official single on December 17. Both artists co-wrote the song with its producers, Max Martin, Cirkut, and Dr. Luke, alongside Sarah Hudson. It was conceived by Perry and Hudson during a writing session in Perry's hometown of Santa Barbara, California, and Juicy J was later commissioned for a verse on the song. "Dark Horse" combines the genres of trap and hip hop, replicating what has been described as a "Southern rap-techno mashup". The track features a minimal production, with a "seductive" and "mature" tone to Perry's vocals, while Juicy J is featured on the song's intro and rapped bridge. Perry, in interviews, said she wanted the song to have a "witchy, spell-y kind of black magic-y idea", so she wrote it from the perspective of a witch warning a man not to fall in love with her because if he does, she will be his last. The song was part of a competition sponsored by Pepsi in which fans could vote via Twitter on whether they would prefer either "Dark Horse" or "Walking on Air" to be released as the first promotional single from Prism. 04 Chained to the rhythm (feat. 21. 51 4 points Released: 10th March 2017 Peak UK Chart position: 47 1 member voted for this song The song was written by Stargate, alongside Diplo, Sia and Jr. Blender. It was reportedly Sia's idea to recruit P!nk for the song. The song was originally conducted by Sia, in partnership with Diplo and Jr Blender, and was intended to give the song to Cashmere Cat for his debut album 9, with Sia credited as a featured artist. However, the track was rejected as the original tracklist for the album was leaked and Cashmere Cat scrapped most of the project, delaying the release date of the album. Sia, however, was determined to search for a worthy artist for the song and gave it to Stargate instead, recruiting P!nk along the way.
