Watched the first show. The only one I really liked was Janet Devlin. The rest were either alright or rubbish. I didn't think that first guy that got through was that good, just above average...nothing more.
  2. Dalisska has sent in it's confirmation. The song was very instant for me, but I'm not sure how BJSC will respond to it....I think it's mega catchy anyway.

I don't think it works like that in True Blood. VD has it that if you die with vampire blood in your system you come back as a vampire......but I think for True Blood the blood of the victim needs to be completely drained and completely replaced with the vampires blood. It's a more complicated process....not really something that could happen by accident.

I don't think so...well in the promo for the next episode he seems to be free. He's with Sookie & Alcide....

What's up with Crystal and the werepanthers? It seems like that story arc has gone completely awol. :/
  6. When I found a song last night I thought it would be clear cut....but now all of a sudden I've found a second song that I'm really starting to love too. I might make the two songs public if I continue having trouble deciding, and maybe a couple of people might make some kind of nod towards one or the other. :P

I'm in the middle of watching True Blood. Jessica just smashed Hoyt's head open.... O M G Edit: Thank goodness it was just a dream, It really felt awful. :( Even though she's my favourite character, Jessica lost major brownie points with me tonight. I hope she doesn't get back with Hoyt (even though I loved that romance it's been truly murdered at this point) but I also hope she doesn't get together with Jason. She should end up alone. I'd like to see her not involved in a romance actually....give her more room to the naughty vampire things. :P
  8. I have one idea for an entry....but I think I could still do better. At least Dalisska has plenty of time to go song searching. Edit: Just discovered a really promising band.... Think Caro Emerald (maybe not AS swanky) + Elizabeth & The Catapult That's all I'm giving. :P I'm looking through their songs at the minute, but I have a few favourites already. Not 100% certain I'll send them yet....but they definitely have that something something.

Just wanted to say.... GO ESTHER! :cheer: She kicked that creeps ass, sure it doesn't bring Vera back and she didn't actually kill him properly but.....GO ESTHER!
  10. Yeah, I don't think I could be happy with myself if I sent something I didn't like just with the aim of doing well. Then if it flopped it would feel even worse because you'd wonder what the hell was that all about? It can be pretty easy though when looking through blogs.....to start thinking you like a song just because it's been so long before you found anything good. (like you're getting desperate) So it's nice when a really great song does pop up and you get reminded what a good song actually sounds like. :P I actually found a song I'm really getting into...but it might have worn off me by the time confirmation comes around. :drama:

I really hope Jessica will be alright. :( Jessica & Hoyt's relationship has always been my favourite. Honestly they're the only couple I actually believed. (Although I like Sookie, for some reason any of her relationships bore me to tears.) So it's sad to see it's now in jeopardy. Jessica & Jason is an odd one.....although I can see that ending in tears too once Crystal gets factored in.
  12. Been a while since I posted here.... Well Dalisska DNQed in BJSC 36, and honestly I don't feel that surprised. My head wasn't really in the game this edition. :P Still thinking about our BJSC 37 entry, I keep hearing songs that I go "wow I think that would be really popular at BJSC......but then I think "WAIT.....do I actually like this?" The answer to that is usually a vague "sorta" or in worse scenario an actual "woah no!" Still, I'm looking through music blogs at the minute trying to find something fresh but either I'm looking in the wrong places or my standards have gone through the roof because most of what I'm hearing is so bleh. I might end up pulling a song out of my back catalogue at this rate. I'll admit I'm a bit impatient when searching through music blogs....usually if the song doesn't hook me in the first 15-20 seconds or so I leave. That's so bad I know but sometimes even from the start of a song it just doesn't feel right. Still, we have plenty of time before the next contest even opens confirmations....so I'm sure something will pop up. I wish I could have a national final, but they don't work over at BJSC. :drama:
  13. If I only I hadn't liked Ring Meg. :kink:
  14. Woo congrats Isconia and Video Games!!! Wow my 12 won, that doesn't happen too often. Congrats to Espen on 2nd place, another brilliant song.
  15. Oooh suspense. I'm happy with the three countries that can win now, although I'd rather it's Isconia or Espen.
  16. I'll be over the moon with either an Isconia or Espen win. Actually, I almost gave Espen my 12...but changed it around with Isconia at the last minute. They were very very close.
  17. Isconia or Espen better take this home now.... Go go go!
  18. That's good. Keep saying you won't win and you will win. The second you say you're going to win you'll lose. Remember that. ^_^
  19. That's the thing about odds and predictas though sometimes. They get your hopes up only for the reality to fall on you mercilessly like a ton of bricks. :(
  20. Managed to catch up. Love the top three  I'm surprised, my favourites don't usually do so well and for so long. :P Go Isconia & Espen!!
  21. No, I don't take part in VESC any more. I think my friend Mattias (Deandria) still takes part in it though. Partly because I lost interest in the contest itself but also because it was a bit of a strain worrying about three contests at once. Especially since VESC is probably bigger now than it was when I first took part. I'm able to manage two contests alright....but any more than that is a bit dodgy. Sisse Marie - Dirty Hands was in NSC 71 actually. It failed to qualify (it came 14th out of 25) It was around 10 points away from qualifying though.
  22. Only when somebody on the current member list has missed 3 contests in a row, they get removed and WL country takes their place. The problem is none of the 60 current members miss 3 contests in a row very often. So it's a bit of a slog.....it wasn't always like this though. I remember I sent in my application during NSC 23 and I was put on the waiting list but was able to participate in the next contest NSC 24. There's also a system in place to make sure the actively participating waiting listers are at the top of the list for entry into the main contest. It's required for nations on the WL to vote in a Waiting List jury for the final. (all their votes are grouped together into one set of eurovision style votes.) If a WL nation fails to vote they move down the waiting list by 2 places. (and so people that are taking part move up, even if they submitted their application a while after a WL country that failed to vote) WL nations also have a mini contest they can take part in each month called WLSC.
  23. Not everyone has the same scope of what they see the contest as though. Some just want to enter songs they love, plain and simple...even if that song is a mega hit. :P From my experience of NSC (45 editions, I'm OLD :drama:) I would definitely argue there is a lot of opportunity for new discoveries in NSC. Whether those discoveries are to your tastes is another thing altogether. I think NSC suits my tastes slightly better than BJSC does really (although it alternates, sometimes I'll be more interested in an edition of BJSC than NSC and vice versa)...but it's not so much of a gap that I don't make great discoveries here either. I guess I'm lucky to be somewhere between BJSC & NSC taste wise. I usually think a good rule of thumb is if it DNQs in NSC, send it to BJSC. Even if you wanted to enter, the waiting list at the moment is awfully long (23 people are waiting to get in) so you could be waiting a while to be a full member....
  24. Actually Fervorosia participated in NSC long before they participated in BJSC. So it's the other way around.
  25. The size of semi's vary based on participants (same as here) Although in the current NSC 71 there was 25 nations in each semi. In NSC, the top six countries pre-qualify (PQ) or auto qualify in the next contest. 10 countries qualify from each semi based on the votes from countries/people in that semi. There is also a rest jury which allows you to vote in the semi that you're not in. Allowing you to have some influence even if you're not participating in that semi. This rest jury scoreboard for each semi works simply that the highest scoring country that hasn't already qualified through normal means qualifies as the 11th country from that semi. (So a total of 22 songs qualify from each semi + 6 PQ nations results in a 28 song final.) As for how many BJSC countries take part in NSC. There's Dalisska, Greenfroze, Zechonia and Bokia. (even though they don't take part here anymore) Zechonia has won NSC once with Katie Melua - The Flood Greenfroze has won NSC twice Dalisska is still awaiting a win. :P For all it's "cheap" songs, I don't think it's fair to just rubbish NSC based on that. It's much more unpredictable....but the diverse range of music styles makes it very rewarding too. I've found songs there I love that never in a million years would I have discovered otherwise. Usually good (unknown) does prevail over evil (cheap) :P at least in terms of winners. I think in a way, because NSC tastes are so diverse....a song from Lady Gaga might not really be that cheap. Judas failed to qualify a few contests back.
