...on the subject of catholicism, anybody else see the irony yesterday ?..... the news covered the popes crimbo speech, followed by a report that 2 preists (or some catholic heirarchy) were resigning after revelations about peadophile preists in the catholic church?... the whole circus sickens me, all that 'holier then thou' .....

Ditto. But the thing that surprised me was that a lot of the Catholics in this country are extremely against the 'holier than thou' attitude... even my grandmother who is mega-catholic is against these bishops and is even cool about things like same-sex relationships etc. (obviously there will always be a large group of bible-beaters, but most are a lot more open-minded than they used to be). A lot of people here identify themselves as Catholic, but it's more of a way-of-life than anything else. I don't know many practicing Catholics here. And all of the people I know who are from Catholic families are against these bishops named in the abuse report and bishops who claim to know what's right and what's wrong. Thankfully they'll all be sent to prison, and rightly so. Scumbags. <_<

Don't even get me started on the Catholic church interfering with movie releases. It's ridiculous. -_-

"Global Warming" or "Climate Change", it matters not if these things actually exist... Pollution, overpopulation and over-consumption of the planet's resources due to the unfettered advance of Global Capitalism DOES exist, and has to be curbed, or we're screwed anyway when the oil, gas, etc, runs out and we can barely breathe the air due to smog and pollution......

I agree with you there, and I think something should be done, but global warming is inevitable. I just wish people would stop with the "STOP GLOBAL WARMING" thing because we can't stop it, but we can slow it down to its natural pace.

I'm not a denier, nor am I a global warming campaigner.

I would definitely promote green policies to keep the world clean, but I hate hearing people say "Man is causing global warming" when it isn't the case. The earth warms and cools naturally, but I think our actions are accelerating the warming, but in no way are we causing it.

I quite like Ashton's song, which is a first for me I think. :heehee:

I don't think it is an overreaction. I don't agree with the Irish government discussing it, but the public have every right to call for a rematch because it wasn't "fair play" (bear in mind that is one of FIFA's slogans :P).

It was a double handball and a double offside, so I fail to see how both the ref and the linesman (is that the correct word?) didn't see it as the entire stadium saw it regardless of where they were all sitting. :lol:

I rarely watch sports on TV, but this was hilariously obvious on FIFA's part. The thought of potentially having the World Cup without France made certain officials foam at the mouth. :P
