john v's Top 75 9th February charts
Hi, John! Is that ELO record a new one? Great stuff! I think i will borrow it for my this week's chart :D Nice to see Percy Faith on the runner's up position. There are two reasons why I should listen to Elizaveta: 1) she has Russian roots; 2) she has the same name as my daughter :)

ANDREJ'S TOP40 ALTERNATIVE CHART
ANDREJ'S TOP40 ALTERNATIVE CHART WEEKENDING FEBRUARY 9TH, 2014 http://www.wow247.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/amazing-snakeheads-promo.jpg This week my chart is exploding with the sound of infused guitar riffs and orchestrated disarray. What is this? A new drug? Flatlining, the second single from the Glaswegian three-piece, The Amazing Snakeheads topped the Chart. Quite unexpected, but well deserved. These guys are making a sort of garage blues. The darkest Number One since last April when Black Sabbath headed the chart with their “God Is Dead?” 8-minutes opus. The Amazing Snakeheads are gearing up to the release of their debut album on the prestigious Domino label, home also to Animal Collective and The Arctic Monkeys. The album is coming out in April. Oh Lord, give them force to keep it going! Talking of Lord, New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde debuted at 31 this week with “Team”. It’s her follow up to “Royals” which made No.1 last year. “Team” is a bouncy, infectious tune that follows in the same vein as its popular predecessor. With its rattling drums and glimmering synths, it won’t take very long for this one to get stuck in your head. The highest new entry came from American indie pop band, Foster the People. "Coming of Age" was the last to be written and recorded during the recording sessions for their second studio album Supermodel. The band’s frontman Mark Foster described it as a song that "came out of nowhere", saying, "It's kind of funny, it's the last song we wrote and recorded and it is the first song everybody is going to hear". The second highest new entry was delivered from an indie dream pop band from Jönköping, Sweden, called The Mary Onettes. I’ve been to Jönköping last November. It’s a lovely town. So does the latest song from The Mary Onettes. Very new romantic stuff. 1. Merry Christmas, John! Great number One! This Greg Lake's classic Xmas song really deserve more recognition. In fact, it's a bit strange, that people don't remember it, cause it can be found on almost every Christmas compilation album now. Nice to see The Pretenders debuting very high with another forgotten Christmas classic. I heard this song just yesterday while i was listening to a new 3CD edition of "Now That's What i Call Chtistmas" in the office.

So You Thought They Were Hits..
ABBA - Thank You For The Music I was shocked to learn it reached only 33 in December 1983.

So You Thought They Were Hits..
Suprisingly 'They Don't Know' reached #2 on the Music Week airplay chart in that time. So Kirsty was perhaps the biggest victim of that strike.

Hi, John! Great Chart! Should check Dave Edmunds and Kim Wilde's new tracks. John, this Madness "I chase the Devil" cover has far more old roots: This original is one of my reggae faves of all-time :) haven't heard madness version yet...

Interestingly i also thought of Lou Reed entering my Chart. Sad reason though... I am a big fond of Reed's "Transformer" album. Bet you chosen "Perfect Day".

Thank you, John for very warm words. I'm very pleased that you remember "Safe and Sound" has been No.1 in my Chart on a day my daughter was born. I wonder what was the case why Badfinger re-entered the national Chart? Did they reissue their catalogue or what? You're absolutely right on voices changes with the age. Unfortunately it happens with everyone at some certain point (after 50). Perhaps one day we will hear of a brand new voice-decoder that makes artist voice sounds younger. Someone would say it's against the nature, but i like the idea. As well as the idea that people must live much longer.- john v's Top 75 5th October 2013 charts
Hi, John! I'm very pleased to see Capital Cities are at No.1! And you know why. They spent 5 weeks at No.1 in my Chart. Looks like it was a grower for you. 13 weeks in the Chart before finally getting to No.1 THURSDAY is another amazing track in your Chart. I love Badfinger. I've got 2 of their albums on CD: No Dice and Straight Up. Very Beatles-like band and very talented music writers. It's a pity they didn't receive the fame they deserved. I heard that Boy George new song. Truth to tell i was a bit disappointed. Something wrong with his voice now. He sounds different from what he used to be and not the sort of what i liked about him. Looks like his best days are over. - john v's Top 75 5th October 2013 charts
