Phil Campbell
ouY55Vy8pbU Phil Campbell - who's album I have been enjoying - is releasing a re-worked version of 'No Love Song' and it's bloody brilliant! The video makes me wish that summer could really be like that instead of p***ing it down! (Also look out for the cute lady on about 2 minutes. Using the power of google I've found out who she is... can you? ^_^ )

I'll do a few searches myself. Emmy The Great did do backing on the original release of this song - Five Years Time - last September: http://www.contactmusic.com/new/home.nsf/w...ewhalex12x09x07 I do remember the song being mentioned in a blog some time ago, which is why I was surprised that it had only just been released, but it would seem this is the second time around for the song.

I heard this song AGES ago and really liked it then and was sure it would make a great summer tune so I am was very happy when they said it would be released now. Anybody seen them live? They did the Camden Crawl but I missed them

Just wanted to add a quick note as I managed to see Phil Campbell live last week. I was very impressed, the performance was great - he was solo - full of emotion and the delivery of the songs was first class. BTW did anybody see him TV to do with this Independents Day http://www.independentsday08.com, apparently he was playing with Feeder and the Infadels, I would have like to have seen that.

Sara Bareilles - Love Song
ha ha... I was wondering whether to use Blunt... but you know what I mean. ^_^

Sara Bareilles - Love Song
She is like a female James Blunt but with the Spektor indie about her. I think it's great stuff.

OK. Now that I have had the album for a while I thought I would write a small review for you. Overall I really like this album ^_^. For people who like acoustic guitars, well structured songs, thought out lyrics and a slightly 'edgey voice' you should give this album a listen. The first 2 ('No Love Songs', 'Cold Engines') tracks are both strong tracks, then it slows right down for 3 (Sweet Sister) then the pace is nicely restored with 'Maps'. (ok I will stop with the links it'll take too long - lol!). The middle of the album sees 2 slow songs, which I am not so in to. 'Should Have Stayed at Home' is the track I would be most likely to skip, too middle of the road!! 'Same Old' funks it's up just a little bit, followed by my two favourite tracks, 'Joy' and 'Hey Mama', the later being a great one to 'acoustic ROCK' to! The final track is a piano and strings number that you sense has some meaning to it, a nice way to finish the album. I really like the blends of country, folk and rock that this album has. Phil Campbell's voice is great, not too quickly clean to be a wet blanket and not too husky to sound like Rod Stewart (not that there is anything wrong with him!). Overall I would say a solid 7.5 / 10. I would love to see more tracks like Hey Mama on the next album :yahoo: Anybody else got it?

Cool! The single is pretty up beat and seems way more vocal than a lot of their other stuff. Really like it though, and very kindly they are letting you download it for free on their website! Agree about the art work though.

LOL!! Bland people can still have talent? ;) Interesting reading the review, clearly a big fan! I just read a BBC review saying he is "like James Blunt with some grit", which ties in with the bland comment! However I would say his album (that I have been giving a listen) is a good mixture of acoustic, country, folk and even riff based tracks. A good one for lazy summer days :-) http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/release/zc25/
