  1. Probably because you don't really have an answer, do you? It's always a sign when someone gets personally abusive that they know they have lost the argument. Would you like me to post some live youtube vids of your favourites? Or would you rather I didn't?
  2. Some obscure artist called Adele has just shot past J Lo on US iTunes?? Anyone know anything about her?
  3. RITD up to #2 on US iTunes. :w00t:
  4. Whilst I am by no means a big fan of Jessie J, I do find it ironic you describing her that way whilst having a large pic of a truly talentless 'singer' as your sig and an even more talentless 'singer' as your avatar. In fact, it''s a delicious irony. I'm assuming you're not into live singing?

I know. Join the club, but leave the zimmer frame next to mine in the corner.
  6. Have you thought about buying it? That's basically how artists make their money - they produce a product and people buy it. Would you consider going to Asda and nicking it off the shelf? Just because there's less chance of getting caught stealing it by downloading it doesn't make it any more respectable.

I was shocked last night when I saw how relatively poorly Jessie J is selling in the pre-order charts and on amazon. Unless she gets a massive shop-bought bounce I'm no longer sure she will be a huge album seller. Still may sell enough first week to take it, though. Elbow could definitely do it, though.
  9. Jessie J will divide the nation much more than Adele, for instance. I still think it's great that we have 2 22 year old UK female artists who aren't in any way alike but have the potential to conquer the world (obviously it's not potential with Adele now, she IS conquering the World but Jessie J could follow her, TBH). Exciting times indeed. PS If I was her management I would be slightly worried about her album only being 12 on Amazon's bestsellers list. This is normally a pretty reliable projection of where an album is going to end up on the chart, although maybe Jessie J has a predominantly much younger audience than Adele who will be much more into downloading it instead of buying the actual CD (haven't checked iTunes)... PPS Done a bit more digging and she's only 16 on iTunes and 4 on the play.com pre-order chart (and these were selling the signed copy as i got one myself - would have thought she would have been number 1 on there). But she's behind Beady Eye, Elbow and Clare Maqguire! I always thought this would be a shoo in for number 1 but nowhere near as sure now.

Liam on Radio 2?? What is the world coming to? Nice to see SLY on the A list 9it's also on the Radio 1 b list).

Here's a question (hypothetical at the moment i grant you): I'm of the opinion that at some stage in the next few weeks Adele could conceivably have the number 1 & 2 album in both the US and UK album charts. OK, not happened yet but seriously would YOU bet your own money against it happening? So, assuming it does, I'm assuming the only chance of that ever happening before would be by The Fab Four? Anyone cast any light on it?

I still can't get my head around the concept that the vocal for Turning Tables was wrapped up in just one take and Rumour Has it in just 2 takes! I mean, that's just unbelievable, isn't it?
  13. SLY on Jimmy Kimmel. Check out 0.15 in, lol (turn your speakers up!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqP177tcdlM...player_embedded

And SLY must be increasing its lead as it's now 2 (live) & 3 (album version) on iTunes! It will be interesting how this era will be viewed in years to come because at the moment is feels quite incredible how she is totally dominating the charts. And even more amazing is her success in the US appears to be directly mirroring her success here. Would anyone seriously bet against her having the number 1 & 2 albums in the US in the next few weeks for instance?

Only when she gets as big as Darius and not before.... :w00t:

Reportedly 1 in every 166 Dutch people bought '21' in its first week on sale. Proportionately that's way bigger success than '21' experienced in its first week of release in the UK. it's actually almost TWICE as successful if you do the sums.
  17. I don't think so as she left this backstage message for Ellen after the show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_zKYCrOxNU

Agreed on all counts - Jessie J is 'different' I guess but she has nowhere near the vocal talent of Adele - hence her record company cleverly taking her down an altogether different route.

I think the salient words in my post would be just about everyone. And even then it wasn't in any way meant to be statistically serious.

This theory can't explain her runaway success virtually all over the globe, though.

US iTunes 3. Rolling in the Deep isn't it about time US radio got their fingers out of their derrières and started playing this now? What a seemingly open to corruption system they have over there.

HeHe...just wait until the US sale figures come out next week - I have a feeling they are going to be even more spectacular than what Daily Hits have been hinting at!

Let's face it, at the moment just about everybody is an Adele fan. Factoid.

Depending on how keen XL are to promote it to mainstream, SLY could do it but I'm not convinced they will promote it to the max.
