  1. Miles is also clearly a talented lyricist.
  2. Standing Next To Me is the one I keep playing at the moment. Only took a couple of listens to get hooked on this one. It's just a great pop song IMO. And written by Miles. Alex must think writing for LSP is easy peasy compared to AM as he's got a songwriter (almost) as good as him to share the workload.
  3. Even the academic old fogies on Newsnight Review were gushing about the album! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/page/item/b00...on_pid=b00b0c0y 21.50 in.
  4. It sounds like more of a single than TAOTU to me. The lead line just gets into your head. Confirms Alex and Miles may be more a meeting of equals than at first thought....
  5. If they are only doing 4 dates I would imagine the tickets will be like golddust! Although 4 dates hints at enormadomes to me.
  6. Alex more or less confirmed their will be a follow-up album as well. Interesting..
  7. I've learned my lesson and never give opinions on albums on first listen because i embarrassed myself with FWN. On first listen I was very underwhelmed and posted so on another forum, then had to retract my view a week later. If I think an album is worth spending my time on I get a copy for the car and have it on continuous play whilst driving. If it hasn't improved after a week I generally give up. FWN took about 4 days to really sink in and I now genuinely think it's a better album than the debut. I've had TAOTU (the first 9 songs that leaked) in my car for a few days and absolutely LOVE this album (my pre-order from Domino has now replaced it). Some real stand outs and the only one I genuinely don't love is I Don't Like You Anymore, to me the voice effects on that are reminiscent of FWN and don't gel with the rest of this album IMO. My fave track has already changed from My Mistakes to Standing Next To Me...what a tune that is and I think it will make a great 2nd single.
  8. £7.97 in Asda, btw.
  9. Fair enough. Just so I get where you are coming from, would you rate Britney as a credible/good live act?
  10. Maybe they should just both post up accoustic LIVE versions of their singles on youtube and let us decide who exactly is the overrated one of the 2. Wait a minute, LSP already have. Any idea where I can find Britney's live accoustic?
  11. Crikey, only 3 in it now.
  12. Documentary: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_OXtNpcWmJc
  13. I can't believe LSP are even within striking distance of Britney on a forum like this. Needless to say, I voted LSP and to the Shayne Ward fan who accuses Alex Turner of being immensely overrated; excuse me while I just
  14. Wow! (sorry, I'm not clever enough to embed them) Ridiculously premature prediction time: Mercury Winner 2008!
  15. Up to 10 on itunes now. VERY encouraging as, like Rooney has said, for a band that initially broke due to the internet their singles have never garnered huge download sales, relying instead on large physical purchases. Plus this song will appeal to much more than Monkeys fans IMO. No idea what's out next week but this could chart very highly when it's out in the shops.
  16. I think it's an amazing song and the video is EPIC. Quite clearly the record company believe this project is going to be huge as they've obviously spent a shedload on the video. Best description I've read of the sound of the song is Muse playing a Bond theme in a country and western style! Incidentally, The Times agree with the Bond theme theory: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol...icle3498786.ece

Reverend and the Makers will be Top 5 - mark my words.
  18. LOL. You like Rihanna's STUDIO voice (which in itself with all the studio trickery involved is still pretty dire). I'm suspecting you've never seen her live. In fact, I'm suspecting you've never seen ANY band/artist live. Go away and go to some gigs and come back when your musical knowledge has improved 1000% at least and we'll talk again.
  19. I'll go with Jarvis' summing up of LMT - 'a pile of sh*t'. Do you know in a previous incarnation they supported Samantha Mumba and Gareth Gates and were a covers band? Chancers, frankly.
  20. And that coming from a Rihanna fan. LOL.
  21. I don't think the Muse love is necessarily reciprocated. It all goes back to Mr Bellamy (allegedly!) making a pass at Andy Nicholson's mum ages ago (while Andy was still in the band). I remember Andy's brother Rob not being too happy about it at the time.
  22. Agreed, and to be fair he was very complimentary about the band in the build up to the cover. PS www.arcticmonkeysuk.com is most definitely your friend at times like these. ;)
  23. Agreed, awful awful awful. The people who claim Turner can't sing should be forced to listen to this cover.
  24. First act ever to be nominated 2 years running! If I had the time, I would try and come up with the definitive list of ALL the records AM have broken. Here's another one: WPSIATWIN is the ONLY album to win Best album at the Brits and Mercury Prize. There's lodas more, of course!
  25. At least the album has overtaken the Kaisers to get to number 4 on the yearly list.
