Mariah & The X Factor
She's not ugly. But she's not as good-looking as Shayne - and she's the wrong gender for her target audience - so she's behind him in two counts

Mariah & The X Factor
I like how the Mariah impersonator (as she is so often called on this board) went on to win the contest. That's not what I was expecting when I started this thread so many months ago...

What is P!nk releasing next?
I know but I don't want to buy a £9 album for a few songs I want. iTunes and Tesco won't let you download all the songs individually :(

Tell a lie, it's the eighth best-selling album of the year

Girls Aloud & Sugababes - Walk This Way
I was looking forward to this until I heard what song they were doing. As a rule I don't like these novelty covers where a pop act does a rock song or vice versa... but the idea of the Girls or the Babes rapping makes me feel a bit ill.

At least it made the top ten. There are far worse songs left in Like A Prayer 23 Into The Groove 12 La Isla Bonita 23 Frozen 20 Oh Father 19+ Beautiful Stranger 11 Hung Up 20 Sorry 17 Die Another Day 3-

How many will Leona sell this week?
It's possible, I guess. I have doubts because Shayne couldn't do that. He sold 700,000 when the X Factor single being pressed as the winner was announced was still a novelty. Plus more of the target audience fancied him.

'I'm Not Dead' is the ninth best-selling album of the year in the UK. (Or at least it was the last time I looked at a YTD chart.) I think a fifth single might be overkill but in a way I want one to come out and for 'Tell Me Something Good' to be a B-side because I want that song.

Mcfly
I don't like them at all. It's the weird West Country / West Coast accents that annoy me the most. But I really liked 'Star Girl'

Britney Booed At LA Lakers Game
I hate rudeness like this. She was only watching a match. Boo yourselves!

One is them definitely is a re-recording; one probably is. The cheering at the end of both are sound effects. They sound well fake. I have mp3s of the live versions and they are subtly different. 'Summertime' is definitely a re-recording as the intonation is very different - and the lyrics are changed slightly (she misses odd words out of the live version - but remembers them on the b-side). 'Sorry' sounds a lot like the live version though so I'm not certain whether that's a re-recording. There are a few duff notes on the b-side which don't appear to be on the live version.

Mariah to release Christmas album in 2007
I want a proper, unremixed Christmas album. I want one more than I want an evergreen studio album. None of this remix nonsense - and not a live album either as we're getting the DVD.

I like the Leona single a lot - two of my most-played songs this year made the B-side which is great. She's trying to recreate the live versions which is why she seems to be shouting and overdoing it a bit. On the X Factor you have to keep reminding people you can sing or else you get voted off like Dionne did, no matter how good you are. But she's a bit flat and a bit out on some notes. Considering a million people are going to own it, they could have done a second take on the B-sides.

re: Advent Calendar These I think are Mariah's best-known songs in the UK and also mark the key stages of her career: Vision Of Love (First single) Make It Happen (because it was on Live8) Hero (same) Without You (the good #1) All I Want For Christmas Is You (current UK Download #2) One Sweet Day (Longest-running US #1 ever, I think) Honey (because being a slutty divorcee looks like such fun) Against All Odds (the not good #1) We Belong Together (the comeback) Don't Forget About Us (her last hit)

'Difficult' market weighs on HMV
But they've reduced most of the back catalogue and non-chart albums in my HMV to £13. Even imports cost about that now. Still dear for a CD but cheaper than they were. HMV used to charge £14 for chart CDs and £17-19 for the others.

Hands Up: Who has actually bought the X Factor single
I bought it. First time I've got swept up and bought the single since Hear'say
