See but these figures don't seem right either. I've read different sales (not shipment) figures from VERY reliable sources like Billboard and MTV. Which had Coldplay at 1 and Mariah at 2 (or in the US alone, Mariah at 1 and 50 Cent at 2). Every site is saying a different thing so I tend to use all the charts as loose guides and not believe one over all others.
  6. The ChartsPlus website used to have downloadable PDFs of the year-end charts
  7. But there are still £ signs when you want $ signs. Casino Royale has not made £70 million. It's made $70 million or £37 million.
  8. I didn't buy this album because I was really disappointed by the tracklisting. Where is 'Mary Jane'? 'Love Is All We Need'? Or what is arguably her biggest ever UK single 'Everything'? I instead downloaded (legally of course) the few songs I wanted from it.

As has been said, I'm shocked by Louis' lack of musical knowledge. Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, PJ Harvey and even newcomers like Amy Winehouse obviously slipped his mind. I never thought I'd say this but I'm glad Ray made the final. He is annoying and it's a bit odd seeing a teenager dressed in a grey suit singing songs by dead men but he was alright. He was in tune - he just doesn't go for the big notes the way other two do. It was a strong, polished performance and I really don't like him but I can say that. Ben however is not a brilliant singer. He can do the power notes but they always sound the same and he does them two or three times per performance. And (as I said in another forum) if he's a credible rockstar why is he doing Bryan Adams covers and dedicating records to his Mum? At least Ray (or Simon or whoever) knows that Ray is not anything better than a kid doing Sinatra. We're led to believe that Ray is different and can be the next British rockstar but I don't think that's even remotely likely.

  12. Optimism. I like it. I hope for all our sakes she does one new song. Good knows I need great new material from my favourite artist.

PS And Dionne too. Terrific singer - if just a little shouty.

No mention of Mariah this week. Leona got through singing Whitney and Judy. And Ray was actually quite good this week and Ben annoyed the hell out of me. (If he's as rawk as everyone says he is, why did he cover Bryan Adams and dedicate a song to his mum?). I'm pleased with our finalists out of the 3. Though I think Ashley and Eton Road left too soon.

Well said. Mariah is the best vocalist of the bunch so she "should" win that one. She won't though because Mary J. is all ghetto and real. Bollocks.

I'd like to see her working with Kanye (again), Whitney (again) and Justin (because their 'Yours' never saw light of day).

This must have been about your fifth post and you took the time to fill out the survey. Thanks very much Kieran. And a big welcome to the forum. Glad to know there's another big Mariah about - you've chosen songs that weren't released in this country and from across all the albums. Good to see someone with Mariah knowledge. And I shall add you to the pinned thread now. Please check out that thread (I think it's called 'Meet the forum member's or similar) and see what other songs people like. PS 'Fergalicious' is really growing on me. Well done Fergie, I say.

Don't vote off the Eminem diss record PLEASE! It's the funniest thing on this album. And one of two songs on this record where Mariah has a good old swear. I voted for the 'My All' photocopy.

Oh and 'Mimi' was the second biggest album of the 2005 worldwide, second only to 'X&Y'. Both records had sold over 8 million worldwide in that calendar year alone.

This whole thread has really annoyed me. All it was the news that the Guiness Book of Records states that Mariah is the now the all-time biggest selling female artist. It's not a 'we all hate Madonna thread'. The two mods of this forum are both big Madonna fans. Neither of us said 'woo! I'm glad the baby-stealing b**ch is now #2' or anything like that. No other Mariah fans said that either or anything really negative either. I don't understand why everything has to be a competition. It was news about Mariah posted in the Mariah forum. She has broken a record set by an artist who has been making music longer. It doesn't matter that it's Madonna - it could have been Celine, Whitney or Britney - the Mariah fans are just happy that Mariah is breaking records, no matter who used to hold them. I don't understand why that leads to arguments.
  25. Brilliant. I knew it was going to be a hit (again)but it's such a thrill to see a Mariah song doing quite so well on the UK charts.
