  2. The Kaiser Chiefs seem to be a fiver everywhere. That'll be top 20 I reckon. Rihanna could be rebound as could lots of rock bands who Aunties hadn't heard of and who nieces, nephews & grandkids will swap their new Westlife and Leona albums for. (PS I like Leona but I can imagine a lot of emo kids having to unwrap that album on christmas morning.)
  3. It's My Life 2 Encore Une Fois 3 Ecuador 6 Stay 8+ La Primavera 7 Mysterious Times 8 Move Mania 6 Colour The World 5 Adelante 5- Just Around The Hill 5 With My Own Eyes 7 Ganbareh 2 Run 1 I Believe 5

We're not in the chart forum so I don't have to be diplomatic. 1. He did not deserve to win. Hopeless, Same Difference, scary-eyes Rhydian and her with the dead dad were much better. 2. No one should cover a song by two of music's most successful and most accomplished voices 3. He cannot pull it off AT ALL 4. Mariah may end up at #2 again this christmas. But instead of losing out to a well-loved pop song, she'll lose out to a weeping gimp 5. If Ray couldn't make a career out of singing swing almost in tune, this boy can't.
  6. I think it will almost certainly be #1 but not with the 400-500k advantage over #2 that Shanye and Leona had. The christmas #1 race is still not going to be a competition but it'll be a bit closer at least.

I love the original too. And I agree with everything you've said - he'll release an album of swing covers in less than a year and sell a fraction of what Lewis and Buble have.

#1 easily. Eva & Katie will be on about 30k - the Sugababes have the better song but will pose NO threat at all. The sales for the instant christmas #1 have dropped quite sharply every year. Leona sold 100-200k less than Shayne with her coronation song. Leon may sell half of that yet - sales of about 250,000 which would make it the year's fastest seller (sadly)
  9. I agree with you two. I'd hate for Tesco to have the control over the music charts that they do over the book industry (where it's getting harder to get published, where most of the nation read the same 10 books etc.)
  10. So true. I heard bits of Spirit and then decided it wasn't worth buying. I heard Get Your Number on the radio and I literally couldn't get to sleep easy the night before Mimi came out because I was so excited. Shameful.

Josh! I had to go through all your old names to work out it was you. I'm so out of the loop. That's so sweet. Thank you.
  12. 1 Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend 2 KT Tunstall - Hold On 3 Manic Street Preachers – Your Love Alone Is Not Enough 4 Mutya Buena – Real Girl 5 Beyonce + Shakira – Beautiful Liar 6 Newton Faulkner – Dream Catch Me 7 Arctic Monkeys – Flourescent Adolescent 8 30 Seconds To Mars – The Kill 9 Spice Girls – Headlines [Friendship Never Ends] 10 Shayne Ward – No U Hang Up
  13. I think it's 'Hero'. It's the one that gets covered most and it's the one that everyone knows is a Mariah song. Plus which it's ace. 'Without You' will always be seen as a cover and 'All I Want...' everyone always thinks is a cover even though it's not.
  14. Hello everyone - I remember you, Matt and Graham too.
  15. Can't have been that year because Will was definitely the biggest single but the album was 20ish for the year.
  16. I prefer 'Bleeding Love'. Damn it. I'm such a bad fan. They're both 10/10 songs but 'Bleeding Love' is just tighter and spiffier. That said, more than a dozen Mariah singles (Hero, Without You, All I Want... etc) could have Leona in a fight.

Hello, When I had that big strop and left in January, I promised I'd post again in here when Mariah had another US #1. This is not likely to happen very soon as the woman cannot stop drinking and delaying the album's release. However, Mariah earned her twenty-fourth UK top ten hit this week. This is quite ace. So I've posted. I'm going to start popping my head in more now because I've missed talking to some of you a lot. With love, Tim
  18. Robson & Jerome did it in 1995. And Meatloaf two years before in 1993. What odd company she will be in if she does that double.
  19. 1 Amy Winehouse – You Know I’m No Good 2 Mason Vs Princess Superstar Perfect [Exceeder] 3 Girls Aloud – Call The Shots 4 James Blunt – 1973 5 Westlife – Home 6 Amerie – Take Control 7 Groove Armada Ft Mutya Buena – Song For Mutya 8 Garbage – Tell Me Where It Hurts 9 MIA - Jimmy 10 Bloc Party – The Prayer
  20. 1. The Fray – How To Save A Life 2. Christina Aguilera – Candyman 3. Eve - Tambourine 4. Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Catch You 5. Kylie Minogue – 2 Hearts 6. Hard-Fi – Surburban Knights 7. Stereophonics – It Means Nothing 8. T2 Ft Jodie - Heartbroken 9. Biffy Clyro – Living Is A Problem Because Everything Dies 10. Peter Bjorn + John – Young Folks (WORST)
  21. Now 68 Elvis Presley - Always On My Mind

This year is the first time there hasn't been a physical single by the Idol winner. It's download-only this year. That may partly explain the lower debut.

Thanks to all for your kind words either here or in the mods forum. Bring on the #1! xx

Hello Mariah forum users. I've created this thread to announce that I'm resigning as mod and I'm going to stop posting here. (I've just left a post in the mod forum but I know some of you can't access there - and I probably won't be able to do in a day or so.) I wanted to let everyone know that my leaving has nothing to do with anyone in this optional forum. This forum has been a lot of fun - not just the Inc. but as a place to talk about Mariah and do all the games and things and make fun of Mariah's weight problem. I'm leaving because the whole site's not as friendly as this forum. I hate arguments; I hate rudeness; so the forum's become more of an effort than a reward. Also I want to read more books, watch more films and bother to meet up with more people for a drink. This forum is so addictive that I've lost track of some of those things. I will miss loads of you. Everyone who uses the Mariah forum has something about them that has brightened a day in the past. You've all been lovely to me so I want to thank you for that. Take care everyone. As I told Kalen, when Mariah gets her next #1 I shall appear and see how everyone is....

Leona's bootcamp Hero was OK. But there's been no great ones really. Well until I'm discovered and make 'Melt Away' into a global hit....
