Yeah fair enough there are a few flaws in that idea. I just think the current system is totally daft, if Greece and Cyprus are there you know where the 12 points are going. The points from Bosnia will go to Serbia or Croatia given that in Bosnia about 40% are Serb + 25% croat If Montenegro has joined the song contest this year that is another 12 point banker for Serbia. It is not even interesting to predict where the points are going to go anymore. Anyway I always wondered why they stuck with this crazy voting debacle. But as I am not a fan I will just leave it at that and let you enjoy whatever it is you enjoy about it.

Voting in Eurovision is a joke; also with 40 odd countries there are far too many votes to cast So why not change it. My idea would be to have 15 or so celebrity judges who will cast their votes including a extra vote from a telephone poll of the whole of Europe – this would be much more interesting I would even watch. The Celeb judges could also be asked their opinions throughout the show as well kind of like American Idol etc. The judges could be people from the Eurovision past, ABBA, Cliff Richard, or even American Idol judges / pop stars etc – basically they need to be famous but also know what they are on about. I think they could be trusted to be independent and judge it on the music only, telephone votes obviously can not do this and before long Eurovision will just sink without a trace. I am not a Eurovision fan, but used to watch it when I was a kid. Now it is just a joke because of the voting + I can’t see how people can see it as anything but that. I did find the Irish song amusing because it is taking the p*** out of what Eurovision has become, so was interested to see if it got through. Anyway I was wondering if real Eurovision fans felt there was a need to overhaul the voting system + if not Why?
