Mashup singles that were legit chart hits in the UK?
"Still Dirrty" - Dr Dre v Christina Aguilera. Ok, so I did it a few years ago when I was messing around with music software, but it was good fun to do, if nothing else! It's on YouTube somewhere! :)

Coldplay Violet Hill - Chart Eligible?
Thanks for the info Dave! So I guess the system can't distinguish between the downloads made from pre-ordering the album and those made from buying the individual track, so they've simply excluded all of them, which is a shame. When a song is getting airplay and is selling in reasonably high numbers, but doesn't appear on the official chart, I think it does damage the charts reputation a bit. I should say though, I think it's great what the Official Charts Company have done over the last few years regarding modifying the chart to include all digital sales as I think it's renewed interest in the chart and it's become more reflective of what people are really listening to. However, I hope they look to rectify this issue now they are aware that it can occur. After all, the chart is supposed to be a representation of what people are buying and clearly this is a situation where the current system doesn't work perfectly... Anyway, at least I know whats happening now and can sleep at night again! :)

Coldplay Violet Hill - Chart Eligible?
Does anybody know why Viva La Vida (the song) is not appearing on the Official UK Singles Chart? I heard that the Official Charts Company disqualified it because the track could be downloaded after pre-ordering the album. However, it is also possible to download the individual song just like any other for 79p (as I did a few weeks ago), so I can't understand why it would not be chart eligible. Surely they can distinguish between the downloads made from pre-ordering of the album and those made from purchasing the individual song? As far as I can tell, the album and track are being promoted in the same way in the United States and the track has gone Top 10 in the Billboard Hot 100 so it seems a shame that its success is being registered in America, but not here. I'm a big fan of the UK Singles Chart, but it turns into a bit of a farce if the #2 track on iTunes has been disqualified from it for no good reason... or have I missed something!?! I'm not a Coldplay super-fan or anything (although I do like the track), but it has started to niggle me a bit that I don't know what's going on! So if anyone has any answers I would be most grateful! Cheers! :)
