  5. Thank you for this. Interesting that a few of her earlier singles had a real chance of being number 1 but just fell short.
  6. Simply Red - Fairground The only bad song here for me. I actually really like the Robson and Jerome songs especially I believe. Good memories attached to it.
  7. Yeah Apple always favour the original and I don’t even think Kylie is Top 200 68 - Eartha Kitt - Santa Baby (Remastered 2001) Good to see 2 entries on Spotify though - 37 - Kylie Minogue – Santa Baby 185,751 190 - Kylie Minogue, Frank Sinatra – Santa Claus Is Coming to Town (feat. 8. I haven’t done this for at least 5 years I think so I thought I would bring it back to see what is the best Kylie single release package. If you have been here for many years you may remember it’s where we vote on the song, video and single cover then add up the points. I know we have games ongoing at the moment so I’ll start it in the new year if that’s ok. Be interesting to see how everyone’s opinions have changed over the years.
  9. Very surprised to see Billionaire out so early. Been one of my favourites from her in a quite a while.
  10. Are you able to send me the 1989 link please
  11. I would have been very happy with a Breathe vs Dreams finals as they are my top 2 so any can’t go really.
  12. I sometimes question the taste level on some of these polls haha
  13. Dreams is easily in my top 2 with Breathe.
  14. People seriously think Dreams is the worst ? Wow, erm ok.
  15. Ah ok that is why haha. I you have the 1989 figures that would be appreciated
  16. I still can’t find them in the retro forum haha
  17. Thanks for that, I didn’t see the 80s information. Je ne sais pas pourqui was sooooo close, only 500 copies away from number 1.
  18. No sorry, all this information is found in the retro section on buzzjack
  19. Give me just a little more time - Week 1 Onto the highest new entry of the week and that belongs to Kylie Minogue with her 7th single to debut inside the top 5 but first in two years. “Give Me Just A Little More Time” is a cover of the 1970 No 3 hit by Chairman Of The Board and written by the legendary Holland-Dozier-Holland, it got an added boost when it was chosen to be used in the current Accurist watch advert which helps to explain the high new entry at No 5 (22,000). 1 - GOODNIGHT GIRL- Wet wet wet (41,000) 2- BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY/ THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES- Queen (39,000) 3- EVERYBODY IN THE PLACE E.P- The Prodigy (32,000) 4- GOD GAVE ROCK N ROLL TO YOU II- Kiss (24,000) 5- GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME- Kylie Minogue (22,000) 6- WE GOT A LOVE THANG- Ce Ce Peniston (21,000) 7- I CAN’T DANCE- Genesis (19,000) 8- TOO BLIND TO SEE IT- Kym Sims (17,000) 9- TWILIGHT ZONE- 2 Unlimited (16,000) 10- JUSTIFIED AND ANCIENT- The KLF/ Tammy Wynette (15,000) Give me just a little more time - Week 2 Two tracks make big leaps right behind the Wets, Kylie Minogue strikes 5-2 (34,000) and 2 Unlimited fly 9-3 (29,000) but in reality they are far too far away to pose a threat to the current chart topper with the only hope on the horizon the arrival of the wets album in a few weeks. For Minogue it gives her recent chart peaks of No 16, 4, and now 2- she seems back in favour. 1 - GOODNIGHT GIRL- Wet wet wet (63,000) 2 - GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME- Kylie Minogue (34,000) 3- TWILIGHT ZONE- 2 Unlimited (29,000) 4- BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY/ THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES- Queen (26,000) 5- EVERYBODY IN THE PLACE E.P- The Prodigy (24,000) 6- GOD GAVE ROCK N ROLL TO YOU II- Kiss (22,000) 7- I WONDER WHY- Curtis Stygers (21,000) 8- WELCOME TO THE CHEAP SEATS E..P- Wonder Stuff (21,000) 9- I CAN’T DANCE- Genesis (17,000) 10- STAY- Shakespears Sister (16,000) Give me just a little more time - Week 3 The single still has a substantive lead at the top of the charts though it is reduced from 29,000 to 17,000 over the new runner up 2 Unlimited with “Twilight Zone” which sold 33,000 last week. It marks the second No 2 single from 2 releases for the Dutch duo and bodes well for the release of their album in a few weeks, we’ll see if dance acts can sell albums. That single replaces Kylie Minogue’s “Give Me Just A Little More Time” as it falls 2-3 (30,000), it becomes Minogue’s 6th single to peak at that position and also the second time she’s had to play second fiddle to Wet Wet Wet whose “With A Little Help From My Friends” held “Got To Be Certain” off No 1 four years ago. 1 - GOODNIGHT GIRL- Wet, wet, wet (50,000) 2- TWILIGHT ZONE- 2 Unlimited (33,000) 3- GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME- Kylie Minogue (30,000) 4- I’M DOING FINE NOW- The Pasadenas (28,000) 5- I WONDER WHY- Curtis Stygers (25,000) 6- STAY- Shakespears Sister (24,000) 7- THE BOUNCER- Kicks Like A Mule (20,000) 8- I CAN’T DANCE- Genesis (15,000) 9- GOD GAVE ROCK N ROLL TO YOU II- Kiss (14,000) 10- BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY/ THESE ARE THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES- Queen (13,000) Give me just a little more time - Week 4 In other news the Wets have new challengers with Shakespears Sister moving 6-2 (35,000) and looking like next week’s chart topper unless something unforeseen happens, 2 Unlimited slip back 2-3 (32,000) and the Pasadena’s get stuck at No 4 (30,000). Curtis Stigers maintains No 5 (22,000) though he’s losing sales unlike The Pasadenas, Kylie drops 3-7 (20,000) and Kicks Like A Mule dissipate 7-8 (16,000). 1- GOODNIGHT GIRL- Wet wet wet (45,000) 2- STAY- Shakespears Sister (35,000) 3- TWILIGHT ZONE- 2 Unlimited (32,000) 4- I’M DOING FINE NOW- The Pasadenas (30,000) 5- I WONDER WHY- Curtis Stigers (22,000) 6- REMEMBER THE TIME- Michael Jackson (21,000) 7- GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME- Kylie Minogue (20,000) 8- THE BOUNCER- Kicks Like A Mule (16,000) 9- LEAVE THEM ALL BEHIND- Ride (13,000) 10- REVERENCE- Jesus & Mary Chain (12,000)
  20. If you were with me now - Week 1 When it debuted at No 19 last week “If You Were With Me Now” became the lowest debuting Kylie Minogue single since her introductory single “I Should Be So Lucky” in 1988. Coupled with the No 16 peak of her last single “Word Is Out” it all pointed to a career in trouble and ever diminishing chart returns, but her new single zooms 19-7 (23,000) to become a 14th top 10 single from 15 attempts, it’s actually a duet with US singer Keith Washington who has his first hit but clearly it’s Kylie selling this song, she doesn’t appear to be able to sell albums any longer with her fourth LP “Let’s Get To It” peaking at No 15 and slumping 18-27 this week. 1 - DIZZY- Vic Reeves/ Wonder Stuff (64,000) 2- THE FLY- U2 (45,000) 3- GET READY FOR THIS- 2 Unlimited (44,000) 4- (EVERYTHING I DO)- I DO IT FOR YOU- Bryan Adams (41,000) 5- WORLD IN UNION- Kiri Te Kanawa (35,000) 6- NO SON OF MINE- Genesis (26,000) 7- IF YOU WERE WITH ME NOW- Kylie Minogue & Keith Washington (23,000) 8- RHYTHM IS A MYSTERY- K Klass (22,000) 9- ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE- Monty Python (21,000) 10- WIND OF CHANGE- The Scorpions (20,000) If you were with me now - Week 2 Unlimited rebound 3-2 (40,000) though they lose ground on Reeves & The Wonder Stuff, Kylie & Keith float 7-4 (30,000) making it her biggest single of 1991. A couple of falling chart toppers up next, U2 drop 2-5 (28,000) and with the single now deleted it should hurtle south, and Bryan Adams is also descends 4-6 (27,000). Kiri Te Kanawa ebbs 5-7 (25,000) with Genesis bounding back 6-9 (20,000) as their album “We Can’t Dance” in the shops this week. Next week sees the return of Michael Jackson. 1 - DIZZY- Vic Reeves/ Wonder Stuff (61,000) 2- GET READY FOR THIS- 2 Unlimited (40,000) 3- RHYTHM IS A MYSTERY- K Klass (33,000) 4- IF YOU WERE HERE WITH ME- Kylie Minogue & Keith Washington (30,000) 5- THE FLY- U2 (28,000) 6- (EVERYTHING I DO) I DO IT FOR YOU- Bryan Adams (27,000) 7- WORLD IN UNION- Kiri Te Kanawa (25,000) 8- IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?- Bassheads (21,000) 9- NO SON OF MINE- Genesis (20,000) 10- IT’S GRIM UP NORTH- Justified Ancients Of Mumu (18,000) If you were with me now - Week 3 Bassheads progress 8-5 (31,000) as labelmates K-Klass fall back 3-6 (27,000) and Kylie & Keith falter 4-7 (24,000). 1 - BLACK OR WHITE- Michael Jackson (72,000) 2- DIZZY- Vic Reeves/ Wonder Stuff (49,000) 3- GET READY FOR THIS- 2 Unlimited (35,000) 4- ACTIV 8 (COME WITH ME)- Altern 8 (32,000) 5- IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE- Bassheads (31,000) 6- RHYTHM IS A MYSTERY- K Klass (27,000) 7- IF YOU WERE WITH ME NOW- Kylie Minogue & Keith Washington (24,000) 8- KILLER...EP- Seal (23,000) 9- PLAYING WITH KNIVES- Bizarre Inc (21,000) 10- WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN- Michael Bolton (19,000)
  21. Shocked - Week 1 Sisters Dannii & Kylie Minogue narrowly fail to become the first sisters to have simultaneous top 10 solo hits as “$uccess” holds at No 11 for Dannii whilst Kylie’s “Shocked” debuts straight in at No 10 (21,000). It’s a 13th single for Kylie and a 13th top 10 single the best start to any chart career ever! The single version has been remixed by DNA and marks the first time that a Kylie single has been issued which is not mixed by S/A/W in its main format, it’s also the first single to be available in picture disk by the star, neither fact is helping the album which is still missing from the top 75, it will be re-issued in a fortnight in a gold edition with additional mixes including this one. 1 - - THE SHOOP SHOOP SONG (IT’S IN HIS KISS)- Cher (48,000) 2- I WANNA SEX YOU UP- Color Me Badd (45,000) 3- GYPSY WOMAN (LA DA DEE)- Crystal Waters (41,000) 4- PROMISE ME- Beverley Craven (35,000) 5- BABY BABY- Amy Grant (33,000) 6- TAINTED LOVE- Soft Cell/ Marc Almond (29,000) 7- LAST TRAIN TO TRANCENTRAL- The KLF (26,000) 8- TOUCH ME (ALL NIGHT LONG)- Cathy Dennis (24,000) 9- SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE- REM (23,000) 10- SHOCKED- Kylie Minogue (21,000) Shocked - Week 2 The rest of the top 10 just rearranges itself, Amy Grant lifts 5-3 (36,000), Beverley Craven holds at No 4 (29,000), Kylie rockets 10-6 (28,000) and R.E.M inch 9-8 (24,000). All heading the wrong way are Crystal Waters 3-5 (29,000), Marc Almond/ Soft Cell 6-7 (26,000) and The KLF drive 7-9 (21,000). 1 - I WANNA SEX YOU UP- Color Me Badd (47,000) 2- THE SHOOP SHOOP SONG (IT’S IN HIS KISS)- Cher (42,000) 3- BABY BABY- Amy Grant (36,000) 4- PROMISE ME- Beverley Craven (29,000) 5- GYPSY WOMAN (LA DA DEE)- Crystal Walters (29,00) 6- SHOCKED- Kylie Minogue (28,000) 7- TAINTED LOVE- Marc Almond/ Soft Cell (26,000) 8- SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE- REM (24,000) 9- LAST TRAIN TO TRANCENTRAL- The KLF (21,000) 10- LIGHT MY FIRE- The Doors (19,000) Shocked - Week 3 R.E.M continue northward 8-6 (24,000) beating The Doors who rise 10-7 (22,000) whilst Crystal Waters tumbles 5-8 (19,000). A big week in the Minogue household, Kylie’s “Shocked” falls 6-9 (18,000) as her re-issued “Rhythm Of Love” re-enters at a lowly No 62, 54 places below her sister Dannii’s album “Love & Kisses”. 1- I WANNA SEX YOU UP- Color Me Badd (59,000) 2- BABY BABY- Amy Grant (47,000) 3- THE SHOOP SHOOP SONG (IT’S IN HIS KISS)- Cher (31,000) 4- PROMISE ME- Beverley Craven (26,000) 5- HOLIDAY- Madonna (25,000) 6- SHINY HAPPY PEOPLE- REM (24,000) 7- LIGHT MY FIRE- The Doors (22,000) 8- GYPSY WOMAN (LA DA DEE)- Crystal Waters (19,000) 9- SHOCKED- Kylie Minogue (18,000) 10- THINKING ABOUT YOUR LOVE- Kenny Thomas (16,000)
  22. What do I have to do - Week 1 Speaking of Kylie she’s back with her 12th single and a 12th Top 10 hit “What Do I Have To Do” and is another S/A/W written and produced composition, it pounces 11-7 (32,000) which must come as a relieve to the ailing producers who have lost their deft touch of previous times. It was originally intended as the second single from “Rhythm Of Love” until bypassed by “Step Back In Time” but is certainly evidence that S/A/W are trying to adapt their sound to the changing market. The video features her little sister Dannii, who is already a popstar herself down under and will be hitting our shores shortly though you can already see her in “Home And Away” nightly, and model Zane O’Donell who is popularly rumoured to be her new boyfriend! 1 - 3 AM ETERNAL- The KLF (56,000) 2- DO THE BARTMAN- The Simpsons (52,000) 3- WIGGLE IT- 2 In A Room (37,000) 4- (I WANNA GIVE YOU) DEVOTION- Nomad (35,000) 5- ONLY YOU- Praise (35,000) 6- I BELIEVE- E.M.F (34,000) 7- WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO- Kylie Minogue (32,000) 8- HIPPYCHICK- Soho (27,000) 9- CRY FOR HELP- Rick Astley (27,000) 10- PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC- Vanilla Ice (19,000) What do I have to do - Week 2 Nomad rise 4-3 (39,000) this week and carry Praise with them 5-4 (28,000) as both move above the falling 2 In A Room 3-5 (27,000). Kylie seems to be struggling with “What Do I Have To Do” inching 7-6 (26,000) but it loses sales and could be her first single to miss the top 5, meanwhile EMF retire 6-8 (20,000) and Soho lose ground 8-9 (20,000). 1 - DO THE BARTMAN- The Simpsons (60,000) 2- 3 AM ETERNAL- The KLF (45,000) 3- (I WANNA GIVE YOU) DEVOTION- Nomad (39,000) 4- ONLY YOU- Praise (28,000) 5- WIGGLE IT- 2 In A Room (27,000) 6- WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO- Kylie Minogue (26,000) 7- GET HERE- Oleta Adams (23,000) 8- I BELIEVE- EMF (20,000) 9- HIPPYCHICK- Soho (20,000) 10- G.L.A.D- Kim Appleby (17,000) What do I have to do - Week 3 The KLF drop 2-3 (43,000) just outstripping a climbing Oleta Adams 7-4 (35,000) with three fallers immediately beneath her, Praise (4-5, 28,000), 2 In A Room (5-6, 21,000) and Kylie Minogue (6-7, 21,000). Kim Appleby holds down anchor place at No 10 (19,000) but next week sees a new Madonna single which is an old one. 1- DO THE BARTMAN- The Simpsons (83,000) 2- (I WANNA GIVE YOU) DEVOTION- Nomad (46,000) 3- 3 AM ETERNAL- The KLF (43,000) 4- GET HERE- Oleta Adams (35,000) 5- ONLY YOU- Praise (28,000) 6- WIGGLE IT- 2 In A Room (21,000) 7- WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO- Kylie Minogue (21,000) 8- YOU GOT THE LOVE- The Source Ft Candi Staton (20,000) 9- IN YER FACE- 808 State (19,000) 10- G.L.A.D- Kim Appleby (19,000)
  23. Step back in time - Week 1 Debuting at No 9 this week is Kylie’s 11th release “Step Back In Time” and is the second single from Kylie’s third album “Rhythm Of Love” which hits the shops in 3 weeks’ time. All of Kylie’s singles have made the top ten but this is the 7th to arrive there immediately, as usual it comes from the pen of S/A/W whose other acts have mostly failed to maintain their pace or flopped from the off, Minogue for the time being at least, is bucking that trend after selling 23,000. 1 - UNCHAINED MELODY- Righteous Brothers (157,000) 2- A LITTLE TIME- Beautiful South (79,000) 3- TAKE MY BREATH AWAY- Berlin (48,000) 4- SHOW ME HEAVEN- Maria McKee (40,000) 5- I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT- Whitney Houston (39,000) 6- (WE WANT) THE SAME THING- Belinda Carlise (31,000) 7- KINKY AFRO- Happy Mondays (26,000) 8- THE ANNIVERSARY WALTZ PART ONE- Status Quo (24,000) 9- STEP BACK IN TIME- Kylie Minogue (23,000) 10- BLUE VELVET- Bobby Vinton (19,000) Step back in time - Week 2 In more detail Kylie Minogue climbs 9-4 (43,000), Belinda Carlisle holds steady at No 6 (33,000), Whitney drops 5-7 (28,000) and Maria Mckee hurtles 4-8 (24,000). 1 - UNCHAINED MELODY- Righteous Brothers (197,000) 2- A LITTLE TIME- Beautiful South (58,000) 3- TAKE MY BREATH AWAY- Berlin (44,000) 4- STEP BACK IN TIME- Kylie Minogue (43,000) 5- DON’T WORRY- Kim Appleby (36,000) 6- (WE WANT) THE SAME THING- Belinda Carlise (33,000) 7- I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT- Whitney Houston (28,000) 8- SHOW ME HEAVEN- Maria McKee (24,000) 9- FANTASY- Black Box (23,000) 10- I’LL BE YOUR BABY TONIGHT- UB40 & Robert Palmer (22,000) Step back in time - Week 3 They are the only new entries to the top 10 but lots of other action takes place, Kim Appleby improves 5-3 (47,000), Black Box power 9-5 (37,000) and Robert Palmer & UB40 bolt 10-6 (36,000). Heading down are Beautiful South 2-4 (44,000), Berlin 3-7 (36,000), Kylie drops 4-8 (34,000), Belinda Carlisle collapses 6-9 (24,000) and Whitney dips 7-10 (21,000) as her new album debuts surprisingly low at No 6! 1 - UNCHAINED MELODY- Righteous Brothers (123,000) 2- FOG ON THE TYNE (REVISITED)- Gazza & Lindisfarne (51,000) 3- DON’T WORRY- Kim Appleby (47,000) 4- A LITTLE TIME- Beautiful South (44,000) 5- FANTASY- Black Box (37,000) 6- I’LL BE YOUR BABY TONIGHT- UB40 & Robert Palmer (36,000) 7- TAKE MY BREATH AWAY- Berlin (36,000) 8- STEP BACK IN TIME- Kylie Minogue (34,000) 9- (WE WANT) THE SAME THING- Belinda Carlise (24,000) 10- I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT- Whitney Houston (21,000)
  24. Better the devil you know - Week 1 Below Madonna is the heir apparent (at present) to her title, Kylie Minogue. Her 10th single also becomes her 10th top 5 hit as it crashes into the charts at No 5 (32,000), it again comes from the pens of S/A/W who seem to be losing their touch with their other acts with Minogue back again as their biggest act with the recent downturn in the fate of Donovan. The track is allegedly written about her relationship with Michael Hutchence which has attracted considerable press attention over the course of this year and has garnered more than usual praise from the critics who are liking the more sophisticated angle to her music and comes with a racier than normal promo from the Neighbours star. 1 - KILLER- Adamski (62,000) 2- DIRTY CASH- Adventures Of Stevie V (49,000) 3- OPPOSITES ATTRACT- Paula Abdul Duet with Wild Pair (45,000) 4- VOGUE- Madonna (44,000) 5- BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW- Kylie Minogue (32,000) 6- A DREAM’S A DREAM- Soul II Soul (27,000) 7- BLACK VELVET- Alannah Myles (23,000) 8- COVER GIRL- New Kids On The Block (23,000) 9- KINGSTON TOWN- UB40 (21,000) 10- THE POWER- Snap! (21,000) Better the devil you know - Week 2 “Killer” finished off the competition easily this week extending its sales to an impressive 89,000 copies to now hold a commanding lead at the top of the charts, Kylie Minogue does zoom 5-2 but only managed to increase her sales by 41% to 45,000 with the possibility of a fifth chart topper in “Better The Devil You Know” a distant prospect. Indeed she only just managed to squeeze past Adventures of Stevie V (44,000) at the death so should consider herself lucky. 1- KILLER- Adamski (89,000) 2- BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW- Kylie Minogue (45,000) 3- DIRTY CASH- Adventures Of Stevie V (44,000) 4- COVER GIRL- New Kids On The Block (34,000) 5- OPPOSITES ATTRACT- Paula Abdul duet with the Wild Pair (26,000) 6- VOGUE- Madonna (24,000) 7- HOLD ON- En Vogue (23,000) 8- BLACK VELVET- Alannah Myles (18,000) 9- A DREAM’S A DREAM- Soul II Soul (17,000) 10- WON’T TALK ABOUT IT- Beats International Ft Lindy Layton (17,000) Better the devil you know - Week 3 “Killer” looks to be slowing but its commanding lead at the top last week means that even that can’t prevent it securing a third week at the top with a further 69,000 copies finding buyers, that brings its cumulative total to 316,000 easing itself into the top 10 YTD.
