iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 13th July 2014
It's disappointing that Chery's record company haven't made the track available for streaming for the past couple of weeks. I wonder if they have this misguided idea that holding it back on streaming will mean they get this huge first week impact on that, but it's just not the way it works. Rude has such a huge advantage on streaming and will easily pick up thousands of extra sales next week because of the momentum they've built up. Personally, Rude does nothing for me at all. I don't see why it's such a massive hit in the making (already huge in the US) and I'd love Cheryl to get her 4th number 1, but it's not looking promising for her at the moment.

Didn't really want to admit it but I can't see Cheryl getting number 1. Rude is picking up the pace now and I can see that debuting above her on the first midweeks. I think they'll eventually outsell her by around 20k first week. It just seems as though the song is about to take off.

'Maleficent' | May 2014
I love Changeling. Jolie was absolutely superb in it. A raw, emotional performance.

'Maleficent' | May 2014
Good lord  She's quite possibly one of my favourite actresses, but I can't for the life of me imagine that this is the movie on which to judge her talent (although admittedly, I'm still to see it). You should check out Girl, Interrupted and Changeling for two of her best performances. Also, Salt, Mr and Mrs Smith and the first Tomb Raider are good shouts if you want to see how she handles the action movies. She's amazing.

Cher doesn't deserve to bomb so hard with Sirens. It's a fantastic song. That's a real pity.

Penny Dreadful
Just about to watch the finale. This has been a very good show. Eva is utterly superb. She just has the perfect look to play this kind of role and she's so watchable. Brilliant actress.

Spotify Chart Thread 2014, Part I
From the looks of that, streaming would have probably helped Ella bridge the gap this week and get a 3rd week at the top. It probably would have given her the few thousand she's likely to be behind by. Idina's doing quite well still too, so that should keep her around for a while yet. Amazing longevity. She should easily get to half a million sales.

Streaming to be included in the UK Official Chart: CONFIRMED
Not sure how I feel about the change really but don't think I'm really that fussed. I can't see it making a huge difference at the top end of the chart all that often. I use Spotify every day but never stream online. As soon as there's a song I want I add it to my offline playlists and I only ever use them. I haven't read through every page of the thread, but I'd imagine that means I won't be contributing to the streaming counts at all.

Yeah the video's fantastic. Maddie plays it just right. My 16 month old is obsessed with watching it. He's now waving his arms around trying to copy her! I'm glad he is showing such good taste! Sia's performance of it on Howard Stern's radio show the other day was absolute perfection.

I'd like Sia to be a bit higher but I'm pleased that she's holding on steadily in the top 200. Really want Chandelier to be a big hit for her. It's just epic.

PREDICT: Ed Sheeran - x
I'd say not a lot, considering he has 5 songs in the top 10 and 7 in the top 20 at the moment. This era's going to be huge for him on both sides of the Atlantic. I'd say an opening of 275k in the US (and I think he'll comfortably score the biggest album opening week this year in the UK too).

'G.U.Y.' • 1st 'electronic' Buzz Single
I absolutely love Bloody Mary. It's dark, haunting and totally hypnotic. It's not even in my top 5 from the album (such is the strength of those songs) but I do completely adore it. I also loved the way she performed it on tour. That was amazing to see live. It was very creepy.

'G.U.Y.' • 1st 'electronic' Buzz Single
Good lord. I'm all for differing opinions but I can't for the life of me understand how that song could be described as cheesy. I'm totally baffled.

Idina up to 11 and 76 so she's comfortably inside the top 10 when combined (I think) so hopefully she can climb a little more and stabilise for a few days.

I haven't seen BGT yet but I'm thrilled Idina's getting a boost. It's unbelievable how well this song has done and, although part of me quite likes the fact that it seemed destined to be a huge selling non-top 10, I really would like her to get there.

I understand what being number 2 right at this moment means  but it certainly doesn't mean that only one song has ever been bought more in the whole history of music, which is what he posted. That would make it the 2nd biggest selling song ever.

DISNEY RATE ---- THE RESULTS!
Great top 2, even if I'd have preferred Beauty to win, but I'm completely bemused at how low down some of them were (Hercules!!!!). Also, unless I'm seeing things, you haven't listed my rate for Dumbo. Will that change its position? Wasn't sure if my score was included but you'd just missed out my name when typing up the post. 08.0 Dumbo - It's heartbreaking in parts and very dark, but it's gorgeous, and because it's so short it holds up to repeat viewings easily.

Ah, Corona. Flawless. Baby Baby was a tune and a half. I wonder how much that sold.

DISNEY RATE ---- THE RESULTS!
Admittedly, I haven't seen this or the first one. I kind of regret not getting hold of them before putting my scores in. I might have loved them.

DISNEY RATE
I'm really intrigued to see the results. The voting has been pretty varied on this one. Definitely more so than the Pixar vote anyway.

Top 100 Best Selling Dance Singles of The 90s
Pray is a beast of a song. I remember the first time I saw her live (probably around 14 years ago now), she sang the opening and closing opera parts. It was outstanding. Sadly, her voice has deteriorated quite a bit and she couldn't do it nowadays.

Aladdin is superb. It's such good fun, with amazing songs. I'm not sure what there is to dislike. But then again I absolutely LOVE The Sword In The Stone too, and I appreciate that's not for everyone. What I genuinely don't understand are some of the low scores for Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. I thought they were pretty much universally adored.
