  1. Oh this is very exciting. I can't believe I'm a Melodifestivalen virgin!!
  2. Ok fair enough. Yeah, those vocals......
  3. Post of the week.
  4. I just died. Perrelli!! ABBA!!
  5. Seriously?? Good grief.
  6. Sigh. Literally any ABBA single could have won this ten times over.
  7. I just don't get this. It's vile. She can't sing to save her life. This is going to win by a mile isn't it?
  8. Wtf?? This is utterly bizarre.
  9. This is by far the best vocal/song combo. Seeing as Alcazar don't have a look in, I'd be happy if she won.
  10. I am so confused by what I'm looking at. He looks like an anime character.
  11. Why the hell was Des'ree's Life playing as Helena came out? How utterly random. But amazing. Can't say I'm fussed about Survivor. Which is disappointing.
  12. Good god this is awful. What the hell is this?
  13. Wow some really bad vocals tonight. Actually, some really shit songs. Not what I want from Sweden at all.
  14. Alcazar were outstanding. It'll obviously not win but my god that song is wonderful.
  15. Good grief this is utterly naff. It's like something out of Grease 2, but much less amazing than that. Jesus wept.
  16. Ooooh this is my first Melodifestivalen!! I'm so excited!! I actively rescheduled plans and explained (lied) to my pals that I couldn't visit them tonight. I've only listened to a handful of the songs so far. I appear to be in the minority but I actually ADORE Alcazar's song! I friggin hate Ace's song. This first one is bloody terrible too.
  17. I'm certainly intrigued. It seems like they're taking it seriously and genuinely want to send the best singer/song combination they could get.
  18. Completely agree. What a tit his PR rep is. "Career suicide"?? Is she having a laugh? He's hardly riding high on a wave of commercial success is he? Jesus christ, I'd wager that most of the more successful Eurovision entrants from most countries have outsold anything he's released in the UK. She's bloody delusional.
  19. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of all of his movies, but there is usually something in each of them that is so inspired and totally Tarantino, that you've got to respect him just a little. That said, Kill Bill 1 and 2 are utter masterpieces in my opinion. One thing that you can't deny is his enthusiasm. If you've ever seen an interview with him or heard any of his commentaries, it's immediately obvious how much he puts into his creations. He lives and breathes movies and has a vast knowledge of Japanese martial arts movies and culture amongst numerous other genres. He's completely unique and a marmite character if ever there was one, but I could never deny his total love for what he does. He is also incredibly loyal and respectful of the people he works with, from the actors to the musicians and the production crew. Hearing him talk about certain people, like Uma for example, is lovely. He knows that his actors and his crew are his right hand and he never takes away from what they add to what he does.

10.0 Toy Story - Wonderful movie. 07.0 A Bug's Life - It's very good just not one of my personal favourites. 08.0 Toy Story 2 - Not as good as the first one, which was almost an impossible task anyway. Still very very good. 09.5 Monster's Inc. - I love this. To me, it's so close to being as good as Toy Story. It only lacks the amount of amazing characters. 11.0 Finding Nemo - There's very little about this I dislike. Such a great movie. Charming, funny, sad, exhilarating, beautiful. Perfect. 09.0 The Incredibles - Right up near the top for me. I enjoyed this so much more than I remembered when I revisited it recently. 02.0 Cars - I just don't get it. So boring. I can't imagine why this could be anyone's favourite movie (no offence Juranamo). 07.0 Ratatouille - Perfectly enjoyable. Just not that memorable. 04.0 WALL-E - So overrated. I find it boring for the most part. It has a certain charm which is why it scores higher than Cars. 10.5 Up - Really fantastic. The opening sequence is so poignant and this is a beauty of a film. 09.5 Toy Story 3 - Way better than the 2nd one and almost as good as the first. Excellent movie. 01.0 Cars 2 - Wrong. No better than the 1st movie, which is bad news really. 04.5 Brave - Quite dull. Had one or two moments which earned a laugh, but this is not up to par for Pixar. Slightly better than WALL-E. 07.0 Monsters University - It was ok, but not a patch on the 1st one. Probably not one I'd watch again out of choice. Wow. That was much harder than I thought it would be. I went back and changed my scores so many times. I think I'm happy with this though.
  21. American Pie has sold around 400,000 since 2000 and obviously Lose Yourself is a glaring omission. It'd be number 2 so everything else can move down a spot.
  22. I watched The Truman Show again last night. God it's absolutely fantastic. What a great movie. I don't think I fully appreciated the messages it was trying to get across when I watched it for the first time years ago. The entire end sequence and the conversation between Truman and Christof is stunning. And the very last scene still speaks volumes about how we become so obsessed with reality tv stars until we decide to look for something else. Then, we just forget about them and move on. I know for a fact that I'll go back to this movie many times over the next few years. It's an absolute gem. So that's both films done. Both great. This thread's a bit quiet though, no?
  23. Just finished Red Road. Good choice. I loved the first half of the movie. Great set up and a very interesting way to introduce the story. I actually found myself more connected to the developing story because I had no idea where it was going or why she was watching him, and I caught myself really concentrating on the footage just so I didn't miss anything. There was a really gloomy, foreboding mood over the movie that made it almost uncomfortable to watch, but not to the point that I didn't enjoy it. Being from Scotland I didn't struggle with the accents as much as some others may have and I think they did an amazing job of depicting what life is like on those kinds of estates. So often filmmakers get it so wrong and it ends up being an overly cliched, almost charicatured version, but they did a fantastic job here. As for the performances, they were excellent. I tend to find that the acting is so much more natural in movies like this. It was filmed almost like a documentary, not like a movie at all. That kind of filmmaking lends itself to a different kind of performance from the actors, and they did a great job. There were definitely two distinct halves to this film, but I feel like they did a good enough job of trying to use a technique that almost mirrored the view we got from the CCTV cameras. It connected the scenes and, as another poster already said, it brought things full circle at the end. So, it's definitely not for everyone, and the scenes mentioned above (I really need to figure out how to do spoilers in my posts) were gritty and harrowing, and pretty graphic, but it's a well made movie with great, natural acting. It's easy to see why a film like this goes quietly under the radar, but it's definitely worth a watch.
  24. I absolutely adore her. She's funny, grounded and extremely talented. People play down her acting ability and say she's over-rated, but I completely disagree. Even watching her in a scene where she isn't saying anything shows just how good she is. I can't take my eyes off her. I think she deserves all of the success she's getting and long may it continue too.

I really wasn't up for watching this at all, but oh my, it was great. Touching, funny and beautifully animated. The whole Let It Go sequence was stunning and I've since watched it on Youtube about 20 times. Brilliant song, and I really hope it gets the Oscar.
