Buzzjack Film Club • 1. CINEMA
I'll watch Red Road on Saturday and report back, but it does sound interesting. The Truman Show is a really really fantastic movie and I think I'll watch that again on Saturday too. Good choices.

US Billboard Hot 100 - 01/11/2014
Have we had any digital sales info for Do What U Want recently? I'm quite interested to know how much it's on now, but haven't seen any for a while.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
No you're right. I'd read some incorrect information about them finishing filming it several months ago, but they didn't actually start until September. Still, a year between is excessive, as the film will be finished by the time Part 1 comes out. A 6 month gap would have been sufficient. I'm really looking forward to watching this again. The first film has become more enjoyable every time I've seen it, and I'm on my 6th viewing now, so I hope Catching Fire holds up just as well. I'm so glad I've not read the books. I think I'm getting much more enjoyment out of the films without knowing what is coming next. Also, it means I genuinely don't know which characters may die, which adds even more tension for me. I watched the 2 hour documentary on the blu ray of the first movie last night. Wow. They put a lot of love into making that happen, and it was really nice to hear these experienced, well respected actors talking about Jennifer the way they do. They genuinely respect her talent.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
I haven't read the books so I'm fresh to the story with each new film. I absolutely loved Catching Fire. What a stunning movie. Jennifer Lawrence is absolutely perfect. Even though I haven't read the books, I can't imagine anyone else playing this part as well as she does. Her nuances and the strength of character she brings are beautiful. She's also very funny. The facial expressions in the lift scene were amazing. Also, I'm finding myself strangely attracted to Peeta now. There were several scenes in this movie that he looked rather handsome indeed, and his character has this warmth and hope towards Katniss that is making me really like him. Gale's hot, but I can't be bothered with him. And although I couldn't decide if I loved/hated her in the first film, Effie had some magic moments in this. Liz Banks is so fantastic in this role. Her last scene in this movie is so touching. Absolutely gutted we have to wait a total of nearly 2 years for the conclusion. To be honest, I think the year wait in between part 1 and 2 of Mockingjay is taking the piss, given that it's probably already finished.

Nikita
Oh do it, do it, do it  You won't regret it. You'll be hooked on Alias in no time at all.

Just listened to Timber for the first time. The fact that it has both Pitbull and Ke$ha on it is like a total nightmare for me, but I thought it might surprise me. It didn't. Oh my word.

Nikita
Yeah I enjoyed it too. It did everything I needed it to and had a nice little twist near the end. Shame it ended but it was a good series. It was never quite as good as Alias because, let's be honest, the first 2 seasons of Alias had some of the finest TV episodes I've ever seen, but it was consistently good. At least it didn't outstay its welcome, which is something Alias was very guilty of near the end.

I'm pleasantly surprised that Leona's still clinging on at number 15 for now. No doubt she'll be out of the top 20 at some point later today but she should have sold enough to keep her there officially on Sunday. That's not as bad as I was expecting at all.

Top Of The Pops 25/12/13
I thought it was a bit odd that Sam Bailey wans't on to actually sing the Christmas number 1. Other X Factor winners have done that in the past. In fact, has she actually performed the song anywhere at all yet, since winning? Bit strange that she's not had any promo at all.

Oh well, it was a successful campaign really. Surely it could well end up top 5 today. I know sales aren't great, but still, that's way better than I imagined it would do.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 22nd December 2013
I wondered that too. The top version dropped 12% in one update. I thought maybe it's just because the Xmas number 1 week is over now so the campaign will die off, but even so, that's a massive drop. All other versions have tumbled too. It hasn't been deleted though, I just checked on my iTunes. Looks like Leona will snag number 2 on iTunes in the next couple of hours. Sam just fell sharply and Leona's in dark green.

Nice too see Leona getting a nice update and moving back to 3. When the Pharrell song drops in the next update, she will be at 2 for a little whole until his single version climbs. Great staying power. I'm so pleased that it hasn't just peaked high and disappeared (that can wait until next week).

Considering sales are so low, that's nowhere near as big a lead as the other winners have managed to get at this time. Like others have said though, I'm sure she'll do well on physical sales. I'm still hopeful for 250k at the very very least, but even that would be extremely disappointing.
-
iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th December 2013
Unless she starts making huge jumps on iTunes, Sam's looking at somewhere between 150-200k surely, judging by how far ahead she is of Pharrell, who must be on for around 50k this week. 200k would be giving her a considerable amount of physical sales in there too. I expected it to do around 350-400k so it's a bit disappointing. Hopefully I've got it all wrong and she'll pull in amazing physical sales this week.

No, my point was that even after we had heard the song it was still showing as a preorder for a while. So just because he'd preordered it doesn't mean he had done so without hearing it. He could well have done it just after the show.
-
iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th December 2013
It was still a preorder after the show had finished. The single didn't update on iTunes for about 30 minutes to an hour I think. They had it listed as a release date of the 16th.
-
iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th December 2013
I'm pretty sure the single hit iTunes much faster than usual this year. Maybe it's the case that she had less of a preorder boost straight away if that makes sense. I guess we'll be able to judge in 24 hours when we see what kind of a lead she builds up.

Leona Lewis - Christmas, With Love
Unless she picked up a huge number of physical sales yesterday, I can't see her getting into the top 10 now. Like you, I think she'll end up at 12 or maybe 13. Which is a shame really, I'd have really liked it to go top 10. Still, at least she's guaranteed a top 3 place on the singles chart.

You should look her up. Particularly If I Were A Boy, Power of Love and Enough is Enough. She's the best vocalist to come out of X Factor since Leona in my opinion. Her technique, and the quality, range and power of her chest voice is unbelievable. She is able to hit notes that other singers can only dream of, without even thinking of using a falsetto, she's absolutely brilliant. She will sound amazing on Skyscraper (even if it is a lazy choice by the producers). Also, I'm totally shocked at how quickly Pharrell has suddenly opened a massive lead after hovering around the same level for the past few days. Has there been any particular promo for the song that I'm not aware of. He's really flying off.

Oh mine has just updated. That's quite a random jump for Pharrell though, no?

Kworb is showing as having reverted for me so the numbers aren't right. Still iTunes hasn't changed for me so Leona's still top on mine.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 15th December 2013
My iTunes still shows Leona at 1 and Pharrell at 2.
