Batman: The Dark Knight Rises
Seeing this at 9am tomorrow morning, and I'm nearly peeing myself with excitement :w00t: I'm shocked, but so pleased, that Anne is getting such good reviews. I fully expected every review to single her out as being weak or miscast. She seems to be proving a lot of people wrong. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH, I wish the next 12 hours would just vanish! EDIT: Ok, so I'm just back. It's EPIC!! It lived up to the hype for me I have to admit. It's long, brooding and really quite miserable for the most part. There's a real sense of foreboding throughout the whole movie. But it's just brilliant. Anne Hathaway was a revelation, and Hardy did a great job too. I want to see it again now!! It's the perfect closer to the trilogy in my opinion. And without spoiling anything, it's very emotional. There were a couple of parts that really got me.

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not, but that certainly isn't the reason for a drop of 2 places. I hope Misha can get top 5. Number 1 isn't happening, but top 5 would be a great achievement.

I thought Bubbling Under referred to the songs that were just outside the top 100, so just missing out?

I don't think we can rule out a second week for Payphone yet. They still have a considerable lead, taking their second version into account, and there will no doubt be an album version from tomorrow too. They'll have started the week off with a good sales lead I think, so Chris or Will would need to really build up a massive lead to take it.

More than that, it's the number 1 free app on the Apple app store. It's huge. And very very addictive. I love it. At the end of every round there's an iTunes link to the song's that you've guessed, so it's easy to see why certain songs might get a good boost from it. No searching involved, it's a very good idea.

Looks like Cheryl has gained a bit, as she's up to 55% again. With the second version she's about level pegging with Flo at number 2. I hope she can hold at number 2 overall, a 1-3 fall doesn't look great. I'd like her sales to hold up a bit better than that (at least to make up for the disappointing album sales).

Flo back down to 80% of Chez now  How did Emeli manage that massive jump? I'm confused.

Yep, Bruno Mars only sold 73k that week so it makes this an even bigger achievement because Whistle is almost certainly heading for higher sales than that, unless it's dropping off at a massive rate (which it doesn't appear to be). If she can keep this up, she's surely heading towards 200k (assuming she doesn't start dropping tomorrow).

Wow, I'm shocked she did it so quickly. She's heading for a monster sales week.

Leona & Adele to duet at Olympics
This obviously has the potential to be very good, but it all depends on what they're going to sing. I'm not convinced their voices will marry that well, but it will be very interesting to see nonetheless.

So, Promise This was number 1 by 2.45pm and that was catching up to Bruno Mars' Just The Way You Are, which had a lead not dissimilar to Flo Rida's at the moment (and probably sales to match). It's only a guide but it gives an idea of how the song might be performing. At this rate, I think she'll be number 2 by lunchtime, it's bridging that massive gap that will take a while.

Snow White & the Huntsman
To my complete horror, this wasn't completely diabolical. Kristen was rubbish of course (does she only have 1 facial expression?) but Charlize was amaaaaaaazing. Talk about a scene stealer. There just wasn't enough of her for me. I absolutely loved the way they handled her character, and some of the effects they used on her looked brilliant. There's a massive section in the middle of the film where it gets a bit dull. It could definitely have used more Charlize. I actually think this would be a good starting point to base Maleficent on (in terms of how they use the special effects). It's pretty much what I was hoping for. Visually this film's really nice, but the script, some of the acting and the middle hour really let it down.

It's always amusing to look at the lower regions of the top 1000. There are some very random songs being bought sometimes. Poor Engelbert though, he's down to 777 already!!

Did someone say Bad Romance was on the 59p list? Oooh I hope it gets a nice little boost. It has to be fairly close to a million surely. I had it around 960,000 before January so it's bound to have sold a couple of thousand since then. It'll get there someday.

Revenge
Of course she's not. She's the single best character in the show. There is absolutely no way on this earth they've killed her off. I think she'll be missing for the first half of the new season but will come back for some revenge of her own.

Why are there so many songs underperforming lately?
I'd say that you answered your own question in your first paragraph. The majority of the songs you mentioned are just "pretty good songs". None of them are amazing though. In fact, some of them are dreadful, but I'm aware that comes down to personal opinion. Some of the songs that have been huge recently have been fairly different to everything else that's around at the moment. That's certainly true with Gotye, and Carly's song is just a very catchy song that benefited from some good word of mouth. I think the problem is that so many acts are just throwing out any old mediocre crap, and expecting it to sell based on their name. Very few artists appear to be putting in a lot of effort nowadays, it's all so bloody lazy. Underperforming singles are just what a lot of them deserve to be honest.

So, she's not flying up the charts but Leanne's doing a hell of a lot better than I thought she would. The song is completely flying under the radar, and a lot of folk don't even know it's out. She at least looks like she might bag a top 20 out of it.

Desperate Housewives ıı Season 8
Kathryn Joosten (Mrs M) sadly died yesterday, aged 72. Lung cancer unfortunately got the better of her. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-18313427 It's so commendable that she asked Marc to write her illness into the show to raise awareness. It just makes her final scenes all the more unbearable though. So sad. R.I.P

Oh dear that's really appalling. It's setting up the album campaign to be a complete disaster. However, I personally think the song is only average. It's nothing special at all, and Elephant was just disgraceful.

Christ, I've just seen Bo Bruce has an EP at number 26. What is that? Is it original material? If so, where did it come from, I don't understand.

Les Misérables
No. All the characters are traditionally French (although you never find out anything about Fantine's upbringing).

I wonder what kind of a boost Moves Like Jagger will get from that little mini-performance. It has already sold a ridiculous amount. I didn't know Leanne was releasing Run To You tonight, was that announced on the show? If so, it's a pity because I can't see it doing anything at all. Anybody know when Payphone is out?

Oh this is good news. I wonder what she'll be doing? It's a pity that the song may well be in freefall by the time any promo effect kicks in though.
