BAFTA's 2019: General Thread
The Favourite will (rightfully) clean up at the BAFTAs but I hope A Star is Born can at least grab a couple. Even if it's Bradley, that'd be good. Gaga will not be taking Best Actress over Olivia Colman.

A Star is Born • AWARDS ~
Agree with everything here, you're spot on. I'd have loved Gaga to win, but not at the expense of a legitimately better performance just because I love her. And I'd have loved Toni to have been in the mix too. She's so under-recognised for her talent, it's unreal. She's one of the only actors that evokes genuine emotion in me when she's crying on screen. She's just terrific in everything. I have absolutely no idea what happened with them choosing BoRhap, it's just a ridiculous decision. In no world was it even a very good movie, let alone a "best" movie.

Golden Globes 2018: General Thread
I've not seen The Wife, but my god did Olivia deserve that award. If she'd lost it would have been outrageous.

Golden Globes 2018: General Thread
I just struggle to see anything original or inventive in the movie. It tells a story most of us know in an insipid, uninspired and actually inaccurate way. There are numerous documentaries about Queen and Freddie that already show us a lot of the moments from the movie in real life, that are all much more rewarding than the movie. While I can see why some people may have enjoyed it, I would never, ever consider it award worthy. I just can't wrap my head around that.

Golden Globes 2018: General Thread
Bohemian Rhapsody is a disgraceful winner. What an absolute shambles. While I don't think Rami was bad in it, he certainly wasn't the best actor of the bunch, but my god that movie was absolutely terrible. I can't even wrap my head around why the voters went for it. Take out Rami's decent performance and it's people miming to someone else's performance. I wasn't sure if A Star is Born would win, but my god it deserved to take it over BoRhap. Original music from the best selling album in the world last year, incredible live performances and 2 stunning lead actors showing more emotional depth and range than BoRhap could dream of. I'm just absolutely baffled by that choice. There were some good winners though. At least Shallow won best song. And Olivia Coleman was the absolute right choice too.

Black Mirror • Bandersnatch
The rabbit hole is deep with this one. It's amazing. I probably spent a good 3 hours doing the episode and got at least 8 endings before my final final one. I'm sure I've seen them all. What I find most intriguing is the world it has built up. This connects to at least 7 other BM episodes, either through and lots of other little easter eggs. This isn't a standalone movie at all and is placed firmly in the same universe as a lot of the best episodes. They're so damn clever.

RuPaul's Drag Race // All Stars 4
I will be shocked if anyone but Trinity takes this whole thing. She's a god damn superstar. Valentina's lip sync was awesome. Great personality, lots of fun and the twirling was great. She deserved that win. I haven't disliked a queen as much as I dislike Gia for a while. Probably since Phi Phi. She's just conniving, twisted and nasty. There's nothing fun about her at all. Episode 3 was good, but I prefer the normal Snatch Game format.

Films you always watch at Christmas
Home Alone 1 and 2 - Absolute classics and I'm over the moon that my 5 year old sat down to watch the first one with me the other day, found it hilarious and is now asking to watch the 2nd one. The Muppets Christmas Carol - I love everything about it. The humour, the music and it just feels like Christmas. It's perfect. Love Actually - Watched it last night. It's so lovely. And Emma Thompson gets me in the feels every time. Rise of the Guardians - My little boy was watching it on Netflix and I got totally engrossed in it. It's so good!

The Apprentice (UK)
I can't at Camilla most likely winning this. She is undoubtedly one of the most inept candidates ever. She's totally unprofessional, makes absolutely ludicrous decisions and has shown not an ounce of business acumen in the entire series. Sian is the better businessperson but there's no way he's investing in a swimwear business. It's a crowded market that she's pretty much already priced herself out of. The only way she's winning is if Camilla makes an absolute dog's dinner of the final presentation (which is highly likely to be fair). I thought Daniel had it in the bag, until all the little lies started to unravel. Which was a shame, because Claude did highlight some really impressive stuff that his business is already doing. He was sacked purely on the personality/trustworthiness issues.

RuPaul's Drag Race // All Stars 4
I enjoyed the episode but it did feel a bit undercooked for an All Star opener. I expected a bit more. Trinity is everything. She's a great performer, looks incredible and can clap-back like a champion. I feel like Trinity is going to do an Alaska and absolutely dominate this season. Gia on the other hand...nope. She looks beautiful. She really is stunning, but there's not even a glimmer of humour in her attitude. She's just vicious and it looks like she'll just target the more sensitive queens, like Farrah. I can see Trinity being one of the only ones to properly lock horns with her. I'm here for that. Having said that, Gia's talent show performance was actually really great. So different and really quite beautiful. And some of those reads were so awful. You'd think they'd never done it before. Farrah in particular was dreadful.

Avengers: Endgame
The title is perfect. It's what I've been saying since the last movie.

Leona Lewis - One More Sleep
I'd imagine it'll be completely separate from the original, but it'll be interesting if the exposure gives Leona's solo track a boost. What I do find odd is that they're making an overtly Christmas song the winner's single for Scarlett, yet the other 2 are not Christmas songs so will work any time of the year. This really limits the appeal for Scarlett's single massively. Unless......and it's a big unless......the new duet version of One More Sleep is not about Christmas at all. They've maybe rewritten it as a ballad about it being one more sleep until a lover comes home or something along those lines.

Strictly Come Dancing • Series 16
I don't watch Strictly, but I've been following Faye's progress. She's so great and her dance last night was absolutely fantastic! So different, so well done and so deserving of the top score.

The Lion King
Wow. This looks absolutely stunning. This is going straight into the top 10 of all time isn't it? It's going to be absolutely huge.

Dumbo ● Live-action remake
This looks absolutely gorgeous. And if your heart didn't cry at his little yelp when his mum is getting taken away, you're dead inside.

iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 23rd November 2018
I'm surprised Kylie's track is gaining traction like that. I love her but it does nothing for me at all. It's so dull, I feel like I'm missing something.

The X Factor • Series 15
No matter who goes tonight, at least one terrible act will make it to the final. A+A and Anthony should have been gone weeks ago. I'm really amazed by Dalton's vocal ability. He's astonishing and could well be the best singer X Factor has ever seen. He's winning this by the biggest margin ever surely.

The Apprentice (UK)
Sabrina's business plan must be absolutely amazing, because I can't see one single redeeming quality about her or anything she has done recently. There's this very off-putting nature about her too, when she's laughing when being criticised. I thought it was nervous laughter to begin with, but actually it just comes across as arrogance sometimes. Camilla too, good lord, she is absolutely useless. Doesn't have one ounce of common sense about her and has made some absolutely horrendous decisions. She comes across as pretty devious too.

OCC: Spice Girls Best Selling Singles
A bit of research would have saved you time here. That's a no to them all. Westlife's single sales were very low. Outside of Baby One More Time, Britney didn't sell much either. Most of her singles are well under 500k.
-
OCC: Spice Girls Best Selling Singles
Really?? They've got 4th singles from albums that have sold around 800k. Stop was a blip. They were massive sellers, with huge first week sales. But you have to consider that the albums sold insanely huge amounts too, which would always impact single sales. Between their first 2 albums, they sold 4.6 million in the UK alone.

Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - Shallow
It's a done deal. Ariana's number are absolutely massive.

OCC: Spice Girls Best Selling Singles
Say You'll Be There was so close to being a million seller the last time I saw sales for it. It'll surely get there eventually. EDIT: I hadn't refreshed the page after being on it for a while so missed the reply above! That's great news.

A Star is Born
Yeah, Sam was fantastic. The scene in the car where Bradley tells him it wasn't his dad he idolised, it was him, and Sam's reaction, absolutely broke me.

OCC: Robyn's Best Selling Singles
It's a disgrace that Callum Scott's version of Dancing On My Own is a million seller but the infinitely superior original has only sold just over 300k. What an injustice.

Lady Gaga - US Chart Runs & Sales
Not really. Perfect Illusion and G.U.Y were nowhere near as successful.
