Your Glastonbury setlist
I thought IRM and ITTY were received pretty well during TROTSG tour. However, IF any solo songs are going to be sung at Glastonbury (if they do it) I can only see Melanie C, Emma and maybe Geri doing any solo material, preferably I Turn To You, What Took You So Long and It's Raining Men.

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
I don’t doubt that at all, it’s just if 50k was sold in South Africa I wondered which other countries made up the rest. I’m just not aware of how many countries in Africa sold as many copies its very impressive 👏 Also I’m wondering if any countries in Africa have official music organisations similar to BPI for example as I wonder how they count the sales?

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
Spice was certified 6x Platinum in Denmark back in 2018 which is now 300,000 As for Germany that’s been on 750k for 20 years and France is 1.1m. Most of those territories including Finland are basically double what they were in 1997 👏

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
Even though it said other territories over the map of Africa did they mean the continent itself or did they mean 3.5m for the rest of the world? 🤔

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
Veli posted a scan on spice circle and it was an article from one of the Official Spice magazines (August 1997) and it said that Spice had sold 1 million in Japan. It was released in September 1996 By April 1997 it had gone 4x Platinum (800k) 1 million sold by August 1997 (increase of 200k) Imagine the total now seeing as the 1 million figure was Aug 1997, we had the rest of the year, 1998, digital downloads and now the streaming era 🤯

Spice Girls - Chart Runs & Sales Thread: Worldwide
Similar to Adele's Glastonbury set, it needs to be their 'Make You Feel My Love/Someone Like You' moment. Every tour I've been to VF has been such a highlight and when the chorus kicks in the fans wave from side to side and sing the song out loud. It needs much more attention.

Emma Bunton - 'Free Me'
Another thing that bugs me about the gap between the early-2000s and the digital/streaming era was when a single had been in the shops for a few months to a year, depending on what shop you went to, making it difficult to get hold of again. Unless that particular song that you were looking for was on an album, there was never any possibility of being able to purchase it again. If iTunes had been around in the early to mid-2000s and fans had heard a spice girls or solo song on TV or on the radio, they could go and download it and keep adding to their sales total. And as I’ve said before in a different discussion many years ago, the girls, both as a group and as solo artists, technically lost years and years of trickle single sales until the digital revolution came along. You could buy the album but there was such a big gap between the physical era and the download era. It would have been so interesting to see their sales totals now had that gap never existed.

Geri Halliwell • General Discussion
I don’t get this obsession with what celebrities wear or who they support and what they align themselves with. We live in a democracy not a dictatorship. Whenever Geri has spoken about something politically it’s always been cherry picked she’s never said ‘I agree with everything Thatcher has ever done”. Geri does put her foot in things but I think a lot of what she says gets misconstrued sometimes. Victoria and David were pro EU and they’re no different to Geri really, they fly abroad during the middle of a pandemic and are multi-millionaires with multiple homes with no worries of what the real world is like and what people go through, but I love Geri and Victoria because they are spice girls (faults and all) And as for the Geri bashing, which is very often on Spice circle, it’s rather off putting as a fan.

Emma Bunton - 'Free Me'
Yes and even before Covid some artists would only do a few TV appearances/performances to promote their song/album because a massive proportion of advertising/marketing music is through social media now. In the early to mid-2000s, music artists, like Jay said, had to convince many fans and listeners to leave the house, go to a shop and buy the single for £2-3.99. Now it's instant with digital downloading (which is 24/7) not like Woolworths where you could only buy the music during opening hours and now with streaming you can listen to ANY song at any time for free.

They seem to do around 1k subscribes every other day. I hope they upload more content this year (more Wembley and Istanbul performances, old clips, interviews, unreleased footage etc

Considering it was originally part of a double A side that’s sold over 845,000 that’s pretty good going if and when it gets to Silver 👏
