It actually got fairly good reviews in the US, about 50% positive, which for this type of film is quite good. The breakup got awful reviews but still managed to gross over $100 million in the US alone. I think its business has a lot to do with the trailer and how awful it was

Bree is way too popular to be killed, i for one will stop watching the show as it will indeed jump the shark even more. Plus Andrew isn't coming back til 1/2 way through this season, giving the storyline a rest
