http://www.ioncinema.com/beta/images/upload/3716poster.jpg Claustrophobic and brightly colored, this tightly wound psychological thriller is constantly pulling the rug out from under the viewer, mostly due to the tense, explosive performances of its two main characters. The tale opens with a coffee shop rendezvous between 14-year-old Haley (the fantastic Ellen Page) and 32-year-old fashion photographer Jeff (Patrick Wilson), who have previously met only online in a chat room. Despite his questionable enthusiasm at meeting a girl half his age, Jeff comes off as slightly awkward and shy; rather, it’s Haley who is unnervingly forthright in her flirtation. She suggests that they go back to his place, he complies, and, once there, Haley seductively convinces him to take pictures of her. She exhibits a beguiling mixture of innocence and precocious sexuality, but before anything happens between them, Jeff passes out under the influence of the drugs she’s slipped him. When he wakes up, Haley drops her innocent demeanor and begins to undertake a meticulously planned game of retribution against her captive pedophile. She hacks into his computer and ransacks his house while he watches helplessly, and she ultimately raises the ante with a surgical procedure sure to make audiences squirm. The exact nature of Jeff’s guilt remains nebulous, however, creating an intriguing uncertainty surrounding Haley’s own mental state, and just how psychotic she might be. Expectations are continuously thwarted as the two characters--neither of whom is terribly sympathetic--enact a psychological and physical game of cat and mouse that is as fascinating to watch as a train wreck. 4. I thought the whole 9 yards was a dire attempt at a film and i would rather burn out my eyes and stick rusty forks in my ears then have to sit through the whole 10 yards

  15. From Yahoo: "Cars" races to first place at box office Sunday June 11 12:31 PM ET "Cars," the cinematic tale of a talking hot rod named Lightning McQueen, sped to first place at the North American box office, bringing in $62.8 million during its opening weekend, according to studio estimates on Sunday. The Friday-to-Sunday gross was the third-biggest take for the Walt Disney Co. and Pixar Animation Studios team. "Cars," featuring the voices of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman and Helen Hunt, is the seventh Disney-Pixar film and its first collaboration since Disney acquired Pixar in January for $7.4 billion. The film's opening finished behind "The Incredibles" at $70.5 million and "Finding Nemo" at $70.3 million. "Finding Nemo" is the highest-grossing Disney-Pixar film ever, having reeled in more than $865 million in worldwide box office sales. Just over my predictions
  16. It looks frickin' awesome
  17. im going for $55-60 million range based on the fact its made only $19.5 million in its first day, which is quite weak for a movie that was expected to be one of the biggest this year

  23. Scott Weinberg writes: "We already know all about the upcoming "Wolverine" and "Magneto" movies, and now USA Today brings word on the possibility of a "Young X-Men" experiment AND an "Emma Frost" movie! From USA Today: "The first spinoff will be Hugh Jackman's "Wolverine." His character has an as-yet-unrevealed back story in which researchers replaced his original bones with a metal skeleton. Jackman has signed on to star and co-produce, and "X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler Donner says it will likely head into production next year. "We've also talked about doing something on the kids in (Professor X's) school, focusing on their lives, and less of a global adventure for the team," says Hutch Parker, production president of 20th Century Fox. The studio is also exploring a movie with "Three Kings" director David O. Russell based on the character of Emma Frost, a sexy mutant telepath who can transform her skin into diamonds. She is an "X-Men" comics regular but was not featured in the movies. Another likely solo project: "Magneto," also in the script phase. The film will focus on his youthful pre-villain days, Shuler Donner says.""
  24. Scott Weinberg writes: "iFMagazine scored an interesting little scoop regarding Sony's "Spider-Man 3," and it feels like the second sequel is turning into a villain-stuffed affair: Sandman, Venom, Green Goblin, and ??????? From IFM: "There are four villains this time, Venom, Sandman, and Green Goblin and when is the fourth going to be revealed? (Avi) Arad: Right we have four villains. Pretty soon [we’ll reveal the fourth villain] I believe. Maybe around Comic Con we’ll reveal something and the madness will begin."
  25. Apparently it's a scene for scene remake too according to the reviews on rotten tomatoes.....another remake flop. It's coming out the same week in america as cars (pixars new flick) which looks likely to be the biggest movie of the year (although its a close battle with pirates of the carb 2 and superman returns)
