'Delta' Debuts At #1! Delta Goodrem's third studio album 'Delta' has debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart following its Australian release on October 20th. Certified platinum (70,000 units) upon its release, 'Delta' featuring the energetic and ridiculously catchy #1 hit single 'In This Life'. Swiftly embraced by media and fans, yesterday's announcement at the 2007 ARIA Awards of the #1 album debut delivered Goodrem her third #1 album debut and a total of thirteen #1 chart positions (including 8 #1 singles, three #1 albums and two #1 DVD releases). As Delta's 8th #1 single 'In This Life' moves her up to equal third position as the 'Female with the Most No.1's in Australia' following none other than Madonna and Kylie. However, one thing that Delta has done faster than Kylie and Madonna is to accumulate her No.1's in a shorter time-period. Madonna took 21 years to have 10 chart-toppers, Kylie took 16 years and Delta has taken under 5 years. SONY BMG seem happy because its a boost to their low sales. october is a quiet month. i think its good the sales are low, makes for a longer chart life, plus only one single is out and two public performances

Rob, i agree. im judt as worried. even more so after reading the following article Delta Goodrem Grabs Number One On Low Sales by Paul Cashmere - October 29 2007 photo by Ros O'Gorman Delta Goodrem's third album has debuted at number one in Australia, but with figures much lower than expected. 'Delta' sold 23,072 units across Australia, around 12,000 units less than Gold. The figure was well below the fastest seller for the year, Powerfinger's 'Dream Days At The Hotel Existence', which debuted with sales of 40,847. Michael Buble's 'Call Me Irresponsible' is the second fastest seller of the year on 37,005 units in the first week. Silverchair are third with 'Young Modern' clocking in 35,627 units in the first week. Missy Higgins 'On A Clear Day' did 34,529 units and Foo Fighters are in fifth place with 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' selling 31,445 units. The Australian Top 5 albums this week are: 1. Delta Goodrem : Delta 2. Matchbox Twenty : Exile On Mainstream 3. James Blunt : All The Lost Souls 4. Foo Fighters : Echoes, Slience, Patience & Grace 5. Rogue Traders : Better In The Dark but on analysing this i think is a positive. MI was released right on the Xmas rush, sold will in the first two weeks then fell from the chart. Delta was released way off xmas buying time. i believe that Delta will be a long charting album and will be more like IE. gradual sales unlike MI that was instant. xmas is coming up so the album will motor
  5. Delta circus keeps Vanessa on hold VANESSA Amorosi will have to wait a few months before she gets to shine again. There is industry speculation that her new album has been postponed for fear it would be overshadowed by Delta Goodrem's latest effort. The forgotten pop star had been due to release her comeback album, Somewhere in the Real World, this month, but it has been postponed until February. The official word from record company Universal was that Amorosi had decided to do some more work on it, but industry sources attributed the delay to the media and marketing blitz surrounding the release of Goodrem's Delta. "There's no rush. We're just going to work it," Amorosi's manager Ralph Carr said. Sony/BMG has put back the release dates for several albums, including rising star Amy Pearson's debut. BAHA they are all to scared to release their albums while Delta is out. MWHAHAHAHAH. brit and kylie should do the same thing :P

  10. i wouldnt call rihanna a comeback loved j-lo because she has been gone for ages and i love her song
  11. good read but your insane!! bare hands is a real grower, best lyrically out of the whole album. i adore it now! i believe this is deltas best work to date. it has moved her up to world standard. IE had fantastic singles but the other songs were not that great, very under produced. MI is very hard to relate to and is not delta at all. the lyrics are very truthful and such but she was a very different/weird person during this period. this new album has much better quality songs and a lot are of single quality. in saying that, one day is the rotten egg of the album. its ok but is very annoying. i would have only had it on the japanese album. i think it should be replaced for right here in my heart..maybe take me home for the uk and us album.
  12. thanks!! hope its true. one episode would even be great

  14. Delta Goodrem’s big return into the spot light at the ARIAs tomorrow night will be overshadowed by the public announcement that her mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Sunday Telegraph editor Neil Breen, spoke with 2GB today saying Lea Goodrem has known about it for eight weeks, and has already undergone surgery but wanted to keep things quiet while Delta was releasing her new album. Delta has had her own struggles with cancer, fighting Hutchinson's Lymphoma four years ago. this is so sad. she was looking so healthy and happy at the album launch. she will get through this. such a lovely lady

Delta's self-titled album will be released stateside later this year. Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem is not well known in the U.S. Her single "Lost Without You" didn't perform well on this side of the world, whereas all her songs shot to No. 1 in Australia. The underperformance was a combination of her contemporary styling and current mainstream standard that put her U.S. album debut at a halt as it peaked at No. 18 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart but never entered the Hot 100 ("Lost Without You" was reworked as an alternate version for the U.S. and can be purchased on iTunes). The release of her previous records in the U.S. was put on hold. Delta returned to the studio once more for her third recording, a self-titled effort consisting of catchy pop tunes covered in maturity. She gathered a powerful team of writers and producers who's careers have fallen into the hands of some of the world's greatest including U2, Madonna, Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera. John Shanks (K. Clarkson, C. Aguilera, Celine Dion, Ashlee Simpson) lent his helping hand as part of the team who recorded the new sound for Delta. The record opens with her second single from the record "Believe Again." It's almost majestic as she sings about everything she's given up on until the one moment she finds happiness. It doesn't signify a strong opening to the album, but leaves the mind wondering what is to follow. The second track is the first single released in Australia from the record called "In This Life." Delta is well aware of her surroundings and what she has overcome. At a tender age of 18 she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and has since then been clean of the cancer. She has been through a few relationships that didn't work out and even attempted a world-wide career that has only built in a few countries outside of her native Australia. She sings about knowing how far she has come and where she is going. Filled with pop songs tainted with her piano playing, "Possessionless" and "You Will Only Break My Heart" can remind us of the bubble gum era that faded out to hip-hop. It's in "Woman" she finds herself all grown up from the child piano singer-songwriter she was in 2003 with her debut album. She sings "I'm not some girl who don't know what she wants/ I'm a woman and I need to be touched/ And I need to be loved/ Cuz being just your woman is not enough." Behind the makeup and beauty, she's a person who wants respect and love. A big departure from her previous songs recorded, this marks Delta's maturity as a 20 something year old discovering what she wants out of life. There's no denying her strength vocally near the end of the song either. "I Can't Break It To My Heart" is a lie to herself. When relationships go bad, sometimes people tend to pretend everything is ok because it hurts too bad to admit the truth. Here she expresses she isn't able to let herself know he's gone and she wants to believe he loves her so she can survive. Not a ballad, but not an uptempo song, it perfectly captures the emotion through the lyrics and the pop rockish edge she has aquired. "One day I'll learn to like myself/ One day I'll get it right/ I'll try till time catches up with me/ One day I'll be too old to care," she smoothly says about everything being ok one day. She seems to have goals like learning Japanese and learning guitar. Delta is closed with "Angels in the Room." Hauntingly, she finds peace on the winding road of change. "Eyes On Me" was discarded from the final setlist and recorded by Celine Dion for her upcoming record Taking Chances, boosting Delta's chance of success in the U.S. Delta was released only in Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand this past Saturday and can be found on Amazon and Sony music stores. Compared to her previous Innocent Eyes and Mistaken Identity, Delta is strong and shows promise for when the official date to be released in the U.S. and globally is announced sometime this winter. ok not released in NZ or Ireland yet is it?
  24. true. but i doubt this album will flop. she just left MI after two singles, it was never going to do well with just two (poor) singles. then there was the bad media with brian and thats why she left the album to sink. in saying that this album will be huge and promoted heaps and there will be a tour. now there are only a few 'die hard' uk fans that are hearing the new material so i guess for the rest of the population she will return with a BANG! it will be their first listen and hence will not be sick of it. im really excited oh and it appears UK has been pushed back  she said she is going to Japan and east asia in January
  25. would you have someone else drive you? i would if i had all that money, plus she isnt the best of drivers. she needs to give it up..
