One off the record if I've done this right 31 fallers in each of (all w/e dates) 29/7/00 9/9/00 13/1/01 7/8/01 16/7/11 Looking at one of those at random, the w/e 9/9/00 there wasn't a single riser or non-mover in the Top 75 let alone the Top 40, everything was either NE/RE/faller.
  2. Sorry if this has been mentioned before, is the Pixie Lott song a cover of the IsleyJasperIsley "Caravan Of Love"?
  3. Better late than never, the H's are now complete. Whitney Houston is probably the stand out act in this batch, like Calvin Harris earlier in this thread, 16 weeks at number one puts her in a pretty exclusive group. Hot Chocolate were chart regulars in their time but only managed one number one, as did the Human League from an overlapping time span. Englebert Humperdinck managed two, and has one of the longest runners in singles chart history, and of course re-appeared a couple of years ago for a failed attempt at Eurovision. Of the rest - Tab Hunter only had two hits but 7 of his 30 weeks on chart were at number one, Brian Hyland's biggest hit was mangled by Timmy Mallet decades later and Chrissie Hynde is better known for her Pretenders material than her solo work. More 80s groups include the Housemartins, most of whose members went on to even bigger things, Hue & Cry, the Hothouse Flowers & House Of Love. Mr Hudson appeared to be almost everywhere for a few months in late 2009 but has disappeared since, the strangely popular on here Hurts got a number one (at least one of them did) courtesy of Calvin Harris (second mention for him this week) and we have three talent-show alumni of different generations - Danielle Hope, Mary Hopkin & Jennifer Hudson
  4. Ignore - posted on wrong forum!
  5. So am I. It's a horrible mess and a complete ruination of a once-decent song. Oh, that's not what you meant....
  6. Calvin Harris has had to pull out due to illness.

And the 6:00-7:00pm slot was one where both Radios 1 and 2 could play the chart (yes kids, the chart did used to be shared between Radios 1 and 2) in the era when Radio 1 was on 247m and couldn't be received across the whole country.
  8. It's not the OCC rule which has changed, it's the Apple reporting mechanism.
  9. Never listened to Marvin Humes so no vote from me on this one. I do wish Jameela would tighten up her act though, the chart show appears to be following general Radio 1 trend of trying to appeal to the 12-year old audience
  10. The three versions restriction hasn't been in place for a good few years now. See Alex Day's hits for confirmation
  11. Why is that a problem? I think that's great, that songs climb and then fall rather than enter at their peak position so much,
  12. That's what I get for doing this on a weekend of very little sleep (Counting Crows in Birmingham, very good indeed plus long drive and a long day at work on Monday). Thanks for pointing it out.
  13. Part 38 added, a day late but better late than never. The big names here are all oldies - the four most weeks on chart of this group are the Hollies, Herman's Hermits, Buddy Holly & Ronnie Hilton, with Vince Hill and Michael Holliday also in the Top 7. The only "modern" name to break into that group is Keri Hilson, most of whose weeks/hits are as a result of being a featured vocalist. The best position she achieved with one of her own records was Number 34. We have an interesting selection of Hills - Vince (see above), Benny, Faith, Lauryn & Becky among others, the Honeycombs whose number one has spawned a large number of cover versions, the legendary John Lee Hooker, but in all honesty not a whole lot else among this batch.
  14. And the email address indicates the very school I went to, a long, long time ago!

    The 40 songs in the Top 40 for w/e 8/11/14 have a total of 481 previous weeks in the Top 40, with Idina Menzel's "Let It Go"'s re-entry adding a whole chunk of weeks. With so many long runners (11 of them with 18 or more previous weeks in the Top 40) it is no surprise that this sets a new record, and by quite a distance 481 w/e 8/11/14 412 w/e 5/5/12 & 1/11/14 403 w/e 3/3/12 399 w/e 4/1/14 397 w/e 25/2/12 396 w/e 12/1/08 395 w/e 28/7/12 392 w/e 7/1/12, w/e 6/9/14 385 w/e 9/1/10 381 w/e 14/1/12 As a contrast, the same week 10 years ago (i.e. w/e 6/11/04) had a grand total of 73 (!) previous weeks, and the following week shares the record for the lowest total from when the chart has been at least a top 40 - 62 previous weeks, no one record contributing more than 7 such weeks.
  16. One record that has the potential to be an all-time classic against one with a pointless disco beat draped over some monotone vocals, no contest. Bastille to win by a landslide please.

If you select "None at all" you still have to select which individual days you would like them!
  18. Why are people keeping "Summertime Sadness" in? It's not even summer.
  19. Or that's why we don't love her. We only put up with her because she is still a million times better than her predecessor
  20. Hope we're going to get the way she says Zhu's website says "Music is faceless. Let my music tell my story" in a stupid "voiceover" type way.
  21. Last year, in a similar press release, they only gave sales rounded to 100. To be honest, detailing sales to an individual unit doesn't give us much more useful information than rounding it to 100, does it?
  22. Ed Sheeran?
  23. Probably because they're not getting played on the main Media outlets - check out the Radio 1 playlist and you'll see how few ballads appear on there or on the music channels
  24. Got to be "Summertime Sadness" now, surely?
  25. Oasis' 1996 total was mainly due to their back catalogue being re-released (or at least re-promoted) as 3 for £10 CD or 12" singles, and "Wonderwall" hanging over from 1995. They only released one new single in 1996.
