  1. Just seen that it used to be on the Radio 2 "B" list (but has just been dropped) so that would have helped
  2. There might just be a thread somewhere around here in the new year, if it isn't breaking copyright too much...

No, I thought he came on here and conducted himself pretty well actually. He answered most of the questions put to him in a pretty straight forward manner
  4. There was a slight kerfuffle about her performance at the Country Music Awards (a week or so ago) being censored (the TV company silenced the word "joint") but I would have thought that would have been completely confined to the US and I can't see any particular UK promo

Yes. Who remembers the Eddie Stobart Truckers, Minecraft Christmas, Alex Day's "Stoopid" song etc. I was going to add Stacey Solomon's version of "Driving Home For Christmas" but that was 2011.
  6. I don't delete them from my Winamp library so I don't need to re-add them. I've probably got about 100 Christmas-themed songs and if they come up on Random when it isn't Christmas time, well so be it. I've got them linked as a playlist for when I need it over Christmas though.
  7. Presumably they'd have to delete it first?

    One Pound Fish Man

Well at least it's better than the one you were "supporting" last Christmas!

Better than a random dance/pop song being in the Top 20 I suppose.

Latest odds 6-4 X Factor Winner 9-4 AC/DC 9-2 Susan Boyle & Elvis Presley 8-1 Lily Allen 10-1 The Big Reunion 25-1 Jack Topping, One Direction 33-1 Adele, Bruno Mars, Emeli Sandé, Jonathan & Charlotte, Leona Lewis, Rihanna, Westlife 40-1 JLS, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Richard & Adam, Calvin Harris 50-1 bar (including that Retrobot thing) Corals are now offering only 1-2 that it is "Not X Factor Winner"
  12. I think "The Monster" may well overtake "Animals" tomorrow...
  13. Agreed Bré. Neither of them appears in my lists of Christmas songs. (Standby for a whole list of Christmas themed hits nearer December 25!)
  14. 1 to 6 is the biggest drop this year, in fact it's the biggest drop since 2010 when the X-Factor Finalists' version of Heroes dropped from 1 to 7 (and only 1 of the songs ahead of it was a new entry)
  15. Yep, I can do the 1984 chart as the "random retro" on the relevant week (If I remember)
  16. It's not all instrumental. There's a couple of lines of mumbled vocals in there.
  17. "Happy New Year" is *not* a Christmas song. Keep it to new year and the days immediately before Jan 1 Madonna's version of "Santa Baby" is the definitive one for me. You can keep Kylie's.

If we're assuming Lily Allen has the top two places next week, this could be number 3
  19. I thought it got to about number 170?
  20. So Mariah will overtake Erasure's peak from a week or two to become the highest placed Christmas song sometime tomorrow...
  21. "Work Bitch" down to number 30 (and "Eat Sleep Rave Repeat" to 23). Some big falls coming on Sunday.

Joe McElderry and Little Mix weren't even the best number ones of their month, let alone year.
  23. Yes, released 2 weeks before the album.
  24. Can't make such a sweeping statement on all Christmas songs. Some are good (Pogues featuring Kirsty, Slade, Band Aid, etc.) some are OK (Wizzard, Greg Lake, etc) and some I wouldn't miss if they disappeared into a black hole (Mariah Carey, Shakin' Stevens, Wham, etc.) I virtually always have my Winamp set to random and it does feel a little odd when something like "Santa Baby" comes on in the middle of the summer but as is isn't on the radio all the time then it's quite a pleasant surprise when that happens
  25. I don't really get this phrase "trying too hard" in relation to this track. "Trying too hard" to do what, or to be what?
