A very happy birthday, Tom!

Sometimes a radio station will avoid playlisting certain songs because their playlist is stylistically directed in a certain way. Whether or not this may later turn out to be a mistake is a question. Besides, the charts don't have any real effect on radio station's playlisting - they're decided by the buying habits of the pocket money of pre-adolescent girls. Radio groups spend millions of pounds testing songs on their audience. Looking back at number ones since Fresh Radio launched, however, there have been 32 of them. Fresh have playlisted 28 of them. The four they ignored were Calvin Harris, (Barry) Islands In The Stream, Basshunter and Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua. The Fresh Playlist is now aimed at indie/pop/electro primarily (with elements of rock, RnB, other dance).

Oops, sorry about that White Lies fans. Edited it now to include the "White" part! Yeah, Friendly Fires are good lads who make great music. Fresh have supported Noisettes all the way through this album since "Wild Young Hearts" was released on 7 inch, so great to see them doing so well now!

Has anyone heard this tune yet? Great new band. I heard the song just a couple of weeks ago and instantly sat up. Now the more I hear it, the better it becomes. No stations's really picked up on Untouchable as yet. It'll definitely find a spot on all of Radio 1, Fresh and Capital's playlist in due course.

Both Rochelle and Empire of the Sun's tracks are floorfillers. Rochelle is definitely electro-pop. They also have other dancey tracks on there like DJ Perempay, Doman and Gooding, Ercola, Frankmusik, Jack Peñate, La Roux, Noisettes and Tommy Sparks.

Detroit Social Club are ones to look out for.

The biggest flop ever for Take That?! I must say, I'm rather pleasantly surprised to have been one of only three people who correctly predicted this song as a flop. I didn't like it at all, though I don't see how it was any worse than 'Shine', which reached number one. Might this finally be the beginning of the end for the lads?

Thanks for that information. It's probably billed as "The p*ssy Cat Dolls" because that would probably appeal more to the average listener! I think it's certainly fair for Nicole to take said steps - it appears to be somewhat of a one woman band. That said, she couldn't cut it solo, could she?!

Personally I think Peñate is one of the most exciting talents around right now. Doman and Godding - James Doman and the song is a reworking of a classic 90s dance tune which has escaped my mind for the moment. I'll get back to you on that one!

I've predicted top 75 as a protest vote. Mark Owen cannot sing. That should be fairly obvious to anyone. The song is utterly hideous and I can only hope that the public will see sense and shun this disgusting track.

That sounds like wild speculation. I can't see how a band the size of U2 can fail to have success in the album charts, even if they don't do so well singles-wise.

I echo the sentiments of everyone else in this thread. I think Gabriella Cilmi has had a lot of success over her, now with a well established fan base and great recognition of "Sweet About Me". The Veronicas are a band that also have a definite fan base over here despite having never had a hit in the UK. However, you can see here that Fresh Radio have already playlisted "Untouched". I just hope that other radio stations will follow. It should definitely be right up the street of Capial etc.
