Capital FM Playlist 2008
Try the radio forums on Digital Spy! I'm not sure if there are any articles. Certainly this is a good siter though: http://emr.squarespace.com/ Peter Ruppert there works for PopScore, one of the biggest music research companies in the UK. Also - the online tests are only an extremely small proportion of the testing overall. They have focus groups and cold calling etc. etc. Capital don't use online surveys at all any more actually. I would expect Capital to playlist Alesha Dixon in the next couple of weeks.

Capital FM Playlist 2008
They only reason Capital doesn't playlist Gareth Gates is because he is an artist who rates very poorly amongst listeners. Radio stations spend millions of pounds each year on music research and Mr. Gates returns an extremely poor "love" return. Quite a commendable "hate" return though. Capital will just playlist what they think is the best new music (mainly pop); they don't have "favourites". What is most questionable about the current playlist is the bizarre exclusion of the Kaiser Chiefs.

Fresh Radio Playlist 16/10/08
Well basically the point of the playlist for Fresh (and indeed Radio 1) is as an indicator of all the new music that they will play. For Fresh Radio when a song is removed it just means that it won't be played on the "up-front/new music based" shows. The songs like Pink and Kings of Leon (already removed) will still remain on the daytime playlist for a while yet. They have to keep adding and removing songs on a similar scale on a regular basis otherwise you'd have about 100 songs on there!

Boyzone are playing at the Jingle Bell Ball, remember?

Capital FM Playlist 2008
I could be cheeky and say because it's an appalling rehash of a gimmicky song and, furthermore, possibly the Sugababes' worst single ever.

Capital FM Playlist 2008
It's never a good time for Craig David to release a scomeback single in my opinion. Can he not just accept that he's past it now? Only reason he's doing it is because he's one of the minor acts on Capital's "Jingle Bell Ball" so he knows they'll have to play his song across the whole Global Radio Network now...

Fresh Radio Playlist 16/10/08
The songs that have been removed from the playlist that week. Basically the playlist comprises of all the songs they play across the station but when a song is removed it only means it won't be played as new music on the "up-front" shows; they'll hang around being played on the daytime shows for a while longer. Fresh Radio's most played songs of the week, if anyone's interested: 1. VV Brown - Crying Blood 2. Britney Spears - Womanizer = Girls Aloud - The Promise = The Killers - Human = Snow Patrol - Take Back The City = Red Light Company - Scheme Eugene = Kaiser Chiefs - Never Miss A Beat = Gabriella Cilmi - Sanctuary = Duffy - Stepping Stone = Sash! - Raindrops (Encore Une Fois) 11. Adele - Make You Feel My Love

Capital FM Playlist 2008
I don't think so. It's just incidental that Eric Prydz and Basshunter both came off in the same week. R.I.O's release has been put off; that's why that was removed.

Radio 1 Playlist (08/10/08)
I wouldn't be surprised if Alesha never made it on Radio 1's playlist at all.

Fresh Radio Playlist
It's the "Fresh" playlist. Online/underground radio I think. I decided to post it because I always like the look of this playlist when they're all posted through to me.

I believe so. Personally I would have preferred a "Fantastic 6" re-release but 'de nada'.

Capital FM Playlist 2008
This tune is exclusive to Capital at the moment. Duffy is re-issuing her album with this song added to it. It was exclusively played on breakfast with Johnny & Lisa either yesterday or Monday between 8 and 8.30 so you could always "listen again" on the website if you really want to hear it. The music on Capital has been a massive issue for years now since the station started to shed listeners. It's been the constant tinkering that has actually made things much worse than they should be. Personally I'm all for a balanced CHR format - so a bit of the best of everything. Right now we're aiming at more of a pop/RnB sound. Who knows how long that will last for though...there should be another mini re-launch soon back to 95.8 Capital FM with Richard Park back in charge now.

Capital FM Playlist 2008
Ahh..that'd be me - sorry! I wasn't aware that there was usually a separate thread for the Capital playlist and felt people should be made aware! At Capital there has always been a lot of pride taken in being a benchmark for the best new pop music and we have consistently playlisted a lot of the best pop acts before anyone else. Certainly with the new sound of the last 9 months or so the playlisting system has changed substantially to include much less indie/rock which, personally, is a shame. The old programmer Sheena Mason left a few months ago too so it's been all change - but I still like to think that we do it best!

New Release Schedule (Physical): Monday 11 August
I did think so - but was confused seeing it scheduled under "Coming soon..."! I assumed that perhaps they'd pulled the song from release. What about Captain? I think I might be more on the ball saying that one WAS pulled from release? Such a shame that they've received such little support for what is another great album.
-
New Release Schedule (Physical): Monday 11 August
Odd decision to release on download alone. I do feel her songs lack the same quality that Adele and Duffy possessed with "Chasing Pavements", "Warwick Avenue" etc. but she is a great talent. Keane would be best off releasing "Spiralling" as a free taster track and then going all out with the next single, otherwise they're fragmenting potential buyers. I'm pretty sure "Disturbia" is going to be the next single. It's trumpeted as such within the radio industry and Capital have just added it to their daytime playlist. Incidentally, anyone know what's happening with Jack McManus - You Think I Don't Care and Captain - Echoes of Fashion?

The Fratellis - Look Out Sunshine!
Do see post #14 please!
-
Predict : Colbie Caillat - Bubbly
Well I can speak for the radio group I work for and we've latched on to it big time. It's on our Network 1 playlist which is basically Capital 95.8, BRMB, Trent etc. AND on our Network 2 playlist too (which is for our more melodic stations). So that's reaching an audience of 11 or 12 million each week. Unfortunately, the BBC have totally ignored this track. I thought it would be right up Radio 2's street, but they haven't touched it yet. As for Radio 1 - some of their plalisting is totally diabolical. Unless it's a dance tune reccomended by Pete Tong or indie picked up by Zane Lowe, we usually land on most of the big tunes first.

The Fratellis - Look Out Sunshine!
Maybe my judgement is clouded by past love of the Fratellis - but I think "Here We Stand" is a very good album. Nothing will live up to the amazing Costello album but this seemed to be a decent effort to me. As for "Look Out Sunshine!" being a flop - I reckon it should do better than "Mistress Mable". It already seems to have gained more commercial support. The likes of Capital have playlisted it, who totally ignored "Mistress Mable".

Dave Spoon, Paul Harris & Sam Obernik - Baditude
Doesn't remind me of Potbelleez at all to be honest. I really like this tune. All commercial dance has to be considered in terms of its likeability not quality.
